Jailed Portland-area citizen journalist Michael Strickland reportedly has been banned from Portland State University and Portland Community College — places where he frequently found material to highlight on his YouTube channel.

The Oregonian” reported:

“The two schools confirmed Wednesday that Strickland will not be allowed to set foot on campus if and when he is released from custody.”

The newspaper reports that PSU has issued a two year ban on Strickland while PCC’s ban in forever — unless he can convince them otherwise:

“Portland State is banning Strickland for two years. PCC’s ban is indefinite, but Strickland could appeal the decision. Both schools informed Strickland of the ban last week.”

Strickland, who’s in jail on $250,000.00 bail for unholstering his pistol and pointing it toward a mob circling him at a Black Lives Matter protest, wasn’t home to receive the missives. Strickland has been charged with a crime but is fighting the charges.

“Confirmed.” What an odd choice of words. ‘Confirmed’ in journalism-ese means that someone called and asked, ‘Hey, are you going to ban that guy now?’ got them to consider it and then circled back to ‘confirm’ it.

School public safety officials are within their rights to determine who should be banned on campus and, indeed, have a duty to keep their students safe. However, one PCC official told “The Oregonian” they’d never had a problem with Strickland at any of their events while on campus:

“The college didn’t have any significant issues with Strickland at those events, Chester said, but he was routinely “pushing buttons” and made his presence known at certain speeches and published heavily edited* videos from the events that raised eyebrows on campus.

When asked why Strickland was banned from Portland State University the chief of public safety said:

“PSU Public Safety Chief Phil Zerzan said Strickland is not allowed on campus “based on his behavior — pointing a gun at people during a public demonstration.”

It should be pointed out that Strickland has been convicted of nothing. He sits in jail because the Multnomah County DA’s office increased the bail and charges against him in what many see is a political prosecution.

Self defense against a mob — exercising your constitutional rights — can get you banned from campuses. Campuses where, it should be noted, that Strickland found plenty of fodder for his website and his professional reporting work.

Of course PSU and PCC have their own non discrimination policies in which they forswear discriminating against anyone based on all sorts of things. But policies about discrimination and behavior appears to be a moving target for the people making decisions in the ivory towers in the South Park Blocks.

For instance, Portland State University didn’t shy away from embracing  the leaders of its International Socialist Organization, which crashed a Tea Party event a few years ago and proceeded to gay-and-race-bait the gay and black people present at the legal gathering. Indeed, when that was brought to PSU’s attention, they shrugged it off. In fact, they continued to give  the group office space and money.

The university was set to hire pro-terrorist (yes, really) professor Joel Beinin to the faculty — that is — until a local talk show host and David Horowitz of the Horowitz Freedom Center started asking questions. The school is a well known hotbed of anti-semitism.

Then there was in 2014 when Strickland attended the institution of higher learning’s anarchist conference:

In April of this year, Strickland and another Portland based citizen journalist “Daylight Disinfectant” reported on the paid speakers lined up to address the anarchists conference.

Some of the speakers at the “Law and Disorder Conference” included:

Leslie James Pickering, domestic terrorist – $1,000:  Pickering is one of the founders of ELF, and was classified as the top “domestic terror” threat in the United States by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in March 2001.

Anthony Rayson, Communist, Anti-Semitic, Supporter of Hamas – $1,000.00: In this article Rayson supports terror groups identified by the U.S. Department of Justice, and expounds on his Marxist-Leninist ideology.

More recently, the PCC campus beckoned students to “Imagine a World Without Whiteness” which won it infamy in the national news. Who broke that story? Mike Strickland. It’s not surprising, then, that they would use the excuse of him being charged with but not convicted of a crime to get him out of their hair forever.

And the school was watched and did nothing as leftist students crashed and took over a Trump rally:

There are too many examples of the duplicity and hypocrisy of these people to list here, but just head over to Strickland’s channel “Laughing at Liberals” and see the examples for yourself. Then you might gain an appreciation for how incredibly convenient it was for these same institutions to ban a guy who routinely makes them look so bad simply by holding up a mirror.

No it means they heard through a third party that he had been banned and are reporting that they *confirmed* that that report was true.

Yeah weird how pulling a gun and threatening people tends to make you unwelcome in polite society.

    1. So, if you exercise your second amendment rights you should be kept out of polite society? Should we apply that to the First Amendment too? And, what is he guilty of? He hasn’t been convicted of anything.

  2. Point of contention, the BDS movement is neither anti-Jewish nor anti-isreal. It is anti-occupation, kinda like how back in the day you could be pro-South Africa and be anti-apartheid.

      1. Funny, I know Jews who are involved in the BDS movement because they believe in a peaceful resolution and Palestinian statehood. I mean, is anyone who is anti-nazi also anti-German?
