New & Updated! Strickland’s ‘Victim’, Benjamin Kerensa: Hacker, Anarchist, Fabulist, Dangerous Man

DONATE TO MICHAEL STRICKLAND’S DEFENSE

One of the supposedly key witnesses in the trial of Michael Strickland was Benjamin Kerensa.

San Francisco Police

The multiple federal and state felon  was caught in several lies on the stand in his testimony as a ‘victim’ of Strickland’s.

Strickland defended himself against the same kind of the violent “anti-fascist” “protesters” who shouted down and threatened violence against Ann Coulter and Milo Yiannopolous at Berkleley.

In Strickland’s case, however,  the Black Bloc kindred in Portland succeeded in assaulting him once and were coming back to do it again at a Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX march and rally in Portland, Oregon on July 7, 2016.

Strickland is a videographer who records Portland events under the YouTube moniker “Laughing at Liberals.” As I’ve explained previously, anarchists, protesters and the rest of them didn’t like Strickland because he made them look stupid. Strickland’s stories have made national news.

Laughing at Liberals

On that day last July, Strickland drew his weapon to stop a phalanx of black bloc outfitted protesters. He drew his weapon once. His finger was never on the trigger. His actions may have saved his life or, at the very least, great bodily injury. (Please see an explanation by police officers who have claimed that what Strickland did was legal and prudent.)

Police cited him on two misdemeanors and let him go after processing. But when the judge –whose daughter is a frequent protester (more on that in another post)– arraigned him a few days later, suddenly the assaulters became ‘victims’ and Strickland was charged with ten felonies and eleven misdemeanors. Strickland spent ten days in jail while friends struggled to come up with bond that would cover a now ridiculous $250,000.00 bail.

But back to our fluffy fabulist.

Kerensa testified to a conspiracy in court to throw Strickland out of the protest and I independently confirmed this. It might have been the only truthful thing he said on the stand.

Here are the whoppers Kerensa told on the stand:

He testified that he was not an anarchist, a provable lie.
He testified that he saw the videographer unholster his gun up to five times, a provable lie.
He testified he wanted Strickland thrown out of the event to protect ‘the children,’ a laughable lie.
He testified Strickland was a racist, a trope to, in his mind, justify violence against him, but is without evidence.
He testified he never harmed Strickland, a provable lie on Strickland’s own video recording and first hand account.
He testified that Strickland looked “unstable” to justify his assaults.

One of the interesting things about the nearly 400 pound Kerensa is that he has an odd way of simply showing up and becoming part of stories.

After the incident last July, he gleefully bounded up to a friend and fellow anarchist who was recording the event to tell him that he made Strickland draw his weapon.

As I’ve recounted before, according to news accounts and court records, Kerensa did time in FEDERAL PRISON for making bomb threats to a former employer and to the tech confab known as Oracle World in the Bay Area. Thousands of people were forced to evacuate the event from Moscone Center.

Police say his former employer was a movie theater which had to be evacuated.

And Kerensa made the bomb threat phone calls from the offices of  man running for mayor of San Francisco where Kerensa ‘volunteered.’ Volunteers recalled in a news account that the rotund young man sat around, eating the free food and trolling the internet.  Sometimes he spent the night in the office.

Police called Kerensa an “anti establishment”  hacker. Authorities probably characterized him this way because of his attempted take over of a company called Nationhost and engaged in alleged fraud and other activities. From SF Gate:

“He has a background as a computer hacker and apparently was upset with the establishment as a whole,” said police Inspector Rich Moses. “He was taking it out on the establishment with these false threats.”

Kerensa was charged Tuesday under a federal law against “maliciously conveying false information” through telephonic bomb threats.

Less than five years after that Oracle World federal prison stint,  Kerensa was out and slithered up to Oregon. He was caught in several counties in Oregon doing illegal activities over a period of time, but he then he settled in on making fraudulent phone calls again — sound familiar?

According to federal sentencing documents, Kerensa pretended to be “Special (FBI) Agent in Charge Richard Ellis.” He called for a SWAT team to surround a Salem hospital and other illegal mischief that could have gotten someone killed. He particularly loved to make fake 911 calls.

He moved to Portland where at some point he got into the protest scene.

He got himself a nice camera and called himself a photographer.

Here’s a recent photo of him at (what else) a protest in Portland in January 2018.

BUT WAIT, WAIT, WAIT.

CUE EDITOR’S NOTE:

EDITOR’S NOTE 3/24/18: THIS PHOTO TAKEN BY BEN KERENSA AND GIVEN TO THE OREGONIAN OF POLICE INVESTIGATING THE PIPE BOMB ODDLY WITNESSED BY PREVIOUS BOMB HOAXER BEN KERENSA HAS BEEN REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH THE SCREEN SHOT OF THE OREGONIAN STORY OF THE SAME INFORMATION. THIS HAS BEEN DONE AT THE BEHEST OF BEN KERENSA TO THE HOST OF THIS WEBSITE.

HERE’S THE REQUEST:

Ben Kerensa complaint to host of this website.

KERENSA CLAIMED THAT BY SHARING HIS PHOTO IN THE OREGONIAN AND ON HIS FLICKR PAGE THAT HE (ERRONEOUSLY) HELD THE RIGHTS.

The photo Ben Kerensa took when he was a witness at the discovery of a pipe bomb in 2013. But we can’t show you the photo he took because he thinks he owns the rights after putting it on his Flickr page and giving it to the media.

Here’s the Oregonian’s explanation of the photo:

Members of the Metro bomb squad detonated a small improvised explosive device outside the Montavilla United Methodist Church, located at 232 Southeast 80th Avenue, Tuesday morning. The ATF and FBI, along with arson investigators with the Portland Fire Bureau, are investigating. Photos by Benjamin Kerensa

The man who went to prison for bomb threats and pretending to Special Agent in Charge Richard Ellis, suddenly became a witness at the discovery of a pipe bomb at a Portland church in 2013. The Oregonian reported:

A witness, Benjamin Kerensa, said an officer told him the device was a pipe bomb.
Kerensa said he saw agents with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI take away at least 10 bags of evidence from the scene.

Kerensa tried to remake himself as an open source hero and techie. He joined a “collective” of supposed open source acolytes and now fancies himself a tech blogger. He writes frequent comments on tech blogs in an attempt to assert his ‘credentials.’

And it’s in this capacity that a Portland newspaper quoted Kerensa — now identified as a “web developer” — as finding a problem in the state of Oregon’s website. The Portland Tribune reported:

“For approximately a month, the state has been assessing the impact that an update would have on people with old web browsers. Benjamin Kerensa, a web developer in Portland, contacted the Department of Administrative Services Feb. 6 and told staff he had noticed encryption protocols were outdated. Richards said Kerensa’s calls and emails caused the Department of Administrative Services to look into the issue, but it was also his understanding employees at the state data center were already aware of the outdated encryption on some websites and were working on a solution.”

Imagine that, the hacker found a problem in 2015. I wonder if the State of Oregon hired him to fix it?

Kerensa’s wild stories and fabulist psychological issues could put a man in prison.

Michael Strickland will be sentenced tomorrow for defending himself against this very, very dangerous man.

Should Portland, Berkeley Call Out National Guard to Protect Conservatives?

It’s a question based on the silencing of Portlander Michael Strickland, Multnomah County Republicans, speakers Ann Coulter, Charles Murray, Heather MacDonald under threat of violence.

As one of the self described anti-fascist (Antifa) protesters put it when his threats resulted in the cancellation of Portland’s 82nd Street Avenue of the Roses Parade:

You have seen how much power we have downtown and that the police cannot stop us from shutting down roads so please consider your decision wisely. Let us know your decision by tuesday by emailing back. We will also wheatpaste fliers across the march route naming sponsors and holding them accountable for backing an event with this type of rhetoric which may endanger future parades ability to get sponsors. We will also begin emailing groups who are participating in the march to inform them you are allowing a group of bigots to march in the parade.

Of course, I’ve been saying for years that they believe the police “cannot stop” them from “shutting down roads.”

This lady tried with the only weapon she had, some Tide detergent to get the thugs out of her way:

The only ones the police and institutional Portland silence is one guy who was being threatened, assaulted and mobbed by these same thugs. And now he faces prison.

The rioters veto has won.

Release the Strickland Tape

As Michael Strickland’s May 3rd sentencing draws near, it’s important that the full story of his defense be brought out into the open. That’s why Judge Thomas Ryan should release Michael Strickland’s own video which has been hidden from public view since the videographer’s arrest.

Strickland is the freelance journalist who drew his legal, licensed concealed hand gun to fend off a violent mob of anarchists while covering a Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX march and rally July 7, 2016.

Here’s the key point:

After covering the event for awhile, Strickland was assaulted by a group of protesters who admitted in court they conspired to throw him out. They assaulted him once and then came back after him. Strickland was forced to draw his weapon after efforts to back them off with verbal commands and defensively using his monopod failed to back them off.

The mob came from three sides in order to attack and stop him from covering the rally.

Rightly believing he was in danger, Strickland swept the black bloc attired mob, without his finger on the trigger, to stop the threat coming at him. It worked. He was able to back up the street to safety — until the Multnomah County DA’s office victimized him again.

He was convicted on 21 charges, ten of which were felonies, by a Multnomah County judge in February after two minutes consideration.

The view we’ve seen so far should have been defense enough:

Multnomah County surveillance video, which included the entire scene, may help see the first attack, but Michael Strickland’s own video clearly tells the tale.

It was shown in court, but the judge made attempts to keep onlookers from seeing it. Why? Because it clearly shows that Strickland was roughed up, assaulted, beaten about by a gang of thugs. And then they came to do it again. And even though Strickland knew their intent, he tried to talk them out of it, gave verbal commands, used his monopod as defense and then, as a last resort, pulled his gun. His finger was never on the trigger,
but the mere presence of that gun backed off the

oncoming thugs giving Strickland the ability to back away.

That’s just another reason why this case is such a travesty.

Free the tape. Free Michael Strickland.

A group of Oregonians ventured into enemy territory on Saturday to call for the freeing of Michael Strickland from an unfair and unjust prosecution in Portland.

Leo Stratton, a citizen journalist, organized the event which saw people gather to put into clear focus what the stakes are for first and second amendment lovers as a result of this prosecution.

Strickland, a freelance journalist, drew his legal, licensed concealed hand gun to fend off a violent mob of anarchists while covering a Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX march and rally July 7, 2016.

On a sunny Saturday,  the “Release Mike Strickland” rally positioned itself in front of Portland’s City Hall. Coincidentally, across the street, the same protester crowd that had victimized Mike was present for an anti-Donald Trump rally. The Strickland rally was heckled a bit but, as far as I know, nothing violent occurred.

Radio talk show host Jayne Carroll was one of the featured speakers. She told the crowd in part:

“I’m not close to Mike Strickland, but he is one of my heroes. He’s been on my show a lot. He’s a young man driven by the truth.

He is a pioneer. He is a patriot. He is doing a job that the mainstream propagandists refuse to do. We need people like Mike Strickland. They want to stop people like Mike Strickland.

[ … ]

That could be you next.”

Fellow journalist and friend of Strickland, Dan Sandini put things in perspective about why the far left and anti-gun rights  Multnomah County DA’s office is going after him:

“Mike didn’t do a damn thing except stand up for the first amendment. There is no first amendment without the second amendment. Could that have not been more perfectly illustrated?

You had a mob of people coming after Mike. Why? Why are they coming at him? To stifle his freedom of speech. To stifle his freedom of the press and to stifle his freedom of expression.

And they have finally believed that they have found a way to shut Mike Strickland up but I am going to tell you here right now: one way or another, this will not stand.

Andrew Breitbart who was my mentor, James O’Keefe who is my friend – and they would be here saying the same things that I am saying right now.

And I send this message out to the district attorney, the corrupt, unjust district attorney who threw 21 felonies [correction: ten felonies, eleven misdemeanors] at a guy for just defending his life just so they wouldn’t break his arm again! That’s all Mike was doing!

I invite the district attorney to do the right thing. I invite the judge at the hearing for his sentencing to do the right thing. I invited the judges on appeal to overthrow this thing and to do the right thing. It is your last chance to do the right thing.”

Write and radio host Tammy Jackson gave a primer on the second amendment and then hit the perfect note asking, “What in the world is going on  in Portland, Oregon?”

“Control. It’s all about control. Progressives are getting more and more strident because patriots are waking up.

[ … ]

But the left is still at war with us. What in the world has happened with our friend Michael Strickland when rushed by a violent crowd who would not back up when he asked them – he unholstered his pistol for about four seconds without his finger on the trigger because they were not complying with his request to back up.

[ … ]

I’d want to know what in the world is going on in Portland, Oregon and in our nation when anarchists have the right to riot and endanger peaceful citizens, but a peaceful citizen who is legally carrying is charged with fending off a most certain assault.

We need to speak up for Mike Strickland.”

A surprise speaker at the rally was a witness in the Strickland case and a man who had taken video of the shocking second wave attack on Strickland. Please see the nearby post for his illuminating and important speech and supporting documents.

‘Release Mike Strickland’ Rally Tomorrow Noon-3pm

A “Release Mike Strickland Rally” will be held at Portland City Hall, 1220 S.W. 5th Ave. Parking should be plentiful on the street, but, if not, a Smart Park is nearby on 4th Avenue.

The rally for Strickland will be held from noon-3pm. A program of speakers will include radio host Jayne Carroll who has been closely following the Strickland case and spent some time in the court room during his trial. Barbwire editor, Tamera Jackson Cochran is also going to be speaking and giving her take on the outrageous Strickland prosecution. Other speakers will be announced later today.

As you probably know, Strickland, a freelance journalist, drew his legal, licensed concealed hand gun while covering a Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX march and rally July 7, 2016.

After covering the event for awhile, Strickland was assaulted by a group of protesters who admitted in court they conspired to throw him out. They assaulted him once and then came back after him. Rightly believing he was in danger, Strickland swept the black bloc attired mob, without his finger on the trigger, to stop the threat coming at him.

Come and show your support tomorrow and make you’re there for critical mass of people at high noon for maximum effect.

Organizer Leo Stratton promises a family friendly event, but he has control over only the good people who will come to support Strickland and not the trouble makers who have shown up before.

Please don’t engage the leftist protesters who have shown themselves to be violent. They’ll try to ruin the event if they show up. Stand strong without engaging. That’s my advice, anyway.

Fund Raiser for Strickland Canceled After Portland Professional Protesters Swing Into Action

A popular McMinnville church has canceled a May 1st fundraiser for Michael Strickland because of the outcry of a Portland protester.

A member of the Church on the Hill in McMinnville organized a concealed carry handgun class fundraiser at the church. Funds raised would go to Strickland’s defense fund  at the Oregon Firearms Federation. (Please go and donate here.)

Strickland, a freelance journalist, drew his legal, licensed concealed hand gun while covering a Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX march and rally July 7, 2016.

After covering the event for awhile, Strickland was assaulted by a group of protesters who admitted in court they conspired to throw him out. They assaulted him once and then came back after him. Strickland was forced to draw his weapon  to stop the protesters who converged on him. The mob came from three sides in order to attack and stop him from covering the rally.

Rightly believing he was in danger, Strickland swept the black bloc attired mob, without his finger on the trigger, to stop the threat coming at him from the left. He then protected his right flank, sweeping the people converging on him from the front.

His self defense move worked long enough for him to back away from the mob. When he got to relative safety,  he surrendered to police–who had just arrived about a block away.

Initially Strickland faced only a couple of misdemeanors. Then, outrageously, the Multnomah County DA’s office overcharged Strickland with ten felonies and eleven misdemeanors for defending himself. More outrageously, the DA’s office used the self same attackers as “victims” in Strickland’s act of self defense.

The real victim here, of course,  is Strickland who in February was convicted of all 21 charges after a week long trial. He’ll be sentenced in May. There will be an appeal.

According to executive pastor Jeff Cox, the Church on the Hill has allowed several groups to hold CHL classes in the past,  but this one was different.

Pastor Cox told me that they canceled the event because Portland protesters got a whiff of the event.

Correction, make that one protester got a whiff of the event and wrote an email of complaint:

The emailer wrote:

“Why would you allow a fundraiser for a convicted felon who stalked african americans [sic] and women and pulled a gun on a crowd to be held at your church?”

Aside from the fact that the emailer lied about “stalking African Americans” “women” and that Strickland pulled a gun on what he hoped to convey was an ‘innocent crowd,’ the only thing true about this email is that Strickland was convicted in a hyper partisan Portland courtroom.

It was enough to spook the the church that has had its share of bad publicity lately.

Pastor Cox told me that he thought the fundraiser was for a “cancer patient or  something” and didn’t realize there was anything political about the event. Of course, there really wasn’t — except in the minds of the leftists who have tried to ruin Strickland’s life by charging him in a bogus criminal proceeding and saw the effort to help him as an affront to their political views.

Cox said he wanted to clarify that there were no massive amounts of protesters threatening the church. Maybe that was a way to salve the concerns of his parishioners who were afraid of the out-of-control protester culture would invade their bucolic town.

Interesting,  the event he canceled, perhaps for the safety of his flock, represented the very reason why there needed to be a fundraiser to help the victim of the same protesters.

You don’t need to look far to find the outrageous and violent antics by Portland’s protester crowd to understand his reticence:

However, it’s understandable if church leaders were concerned about inviting the violent behavior of Portland protesters.

Recently, frequent protester Jessie Sponberg was with the usual band of scarf covered thugs and admitted to cold cocking a counter protester reading Bible verses at the Portland airport, knocking him out and sending him to the hospital.

People have had it up to here with the thugs overrunning the streets, blocking the freeways and stopping them from catching their airplanes because the snowflakes are butthurt over  whatever the cause du jour is.

One  photographer captured an angry woman confronting a black bloc attired protester in downtown Portland who was blocking the street. She used the only weapon she had to go after him – a bottle of Tide:

In the last few days in Portland, the story about a man being attacked by a protester, during which the protester ripped the man’s glasses off his face, resulted in these comments by people disgusted with the unchecked violence by these thugs.

A commenter called “OregonJelly” observed the obvious problem with the leftist protesters:

OregonJelly 11 hours ago

… Personally, I think the larger danger is the violence and intimidation this crowd tends to exhibit towards anyone who disagrees with them. They defend the right to protest, while denying the same rights to anyone who doesn’t share their beliefs. The hypocrisy of activist leaders nullifies any good intentions they may have had.

And this one from “ThoseArePeopleWhoDied” said someone should stop the rampant street violence:

ThoseArePeopleWhoDied 16 hours ago
Once a protestor or anyone for that matter, lays hands on someone, drop the hammer on them. That’s a huge step up from blocking streets, disrupting public meetings, or vandalizing cars. That’s a line that’s gotta be drawn.

And later that commenter cited the Strickland case:

ThoseArePeopleWhoDied 21 hours ago
@0zymandias Lay a hand on someone and take their property (something as personal as eyeglasses to boot) and pay the price…which is felony robbery. DA didn’t have any trouble laying 13 [sic] felony counts of unlawful use of a gun on Michael Strickland for pointing a gun at these kind of super-peaceful protestors when they tried to give him a group hug. Even-handed I’d say.

And then there are the myriad property crimes that have gone unchecked by the Portland leadership:

I’ve asked the church emailer if he would like to write up a 500-800 word essay outlining his problem with Strickland, but either that’s a phony email address or he is confining his writing, bad as it is, to complaint emails and attempted to send disgusting comments to this website.

Meantime, this latest lone wolf protester needs to be answered by making as large a donation to Strickland’s defense fund as possible. Strickland’s sentence and his appeals process is just around the corner. This couldn’t be more important.

A new fundraiser for Strickland will be announced soon.

And let’s not forget: if you capitulate to one keyboard warrior, you’re a bigger loser than he is. We’ve got to be made of tougher stuff to help right this travesty of justice.

Perjury: Counting All the Times Ben Kerensa Lied on the Stand in Strickland Gun Case, Part 1

One of the reasons why Michael Strickland was found guilty of 21 charges against him for drawing his weapon when thugs assaulted him at a Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX event is the testimony of one of the very thugs who attacked him.

The people who converged on Strickland, were then sprinkled with  jurisprudential pixie dust and magically transformed into victims.

Ben Kerensa, the rotund fabulist who is an accused hacker, confirmed liar and multiple convicted felon, spent most of his hour and a half testifying against Michael Strickland telling whoppers in front of a judge, God and everybody.

I’m highlighting only one of them in this post.

Let’s first, however, seat ourselves in the way-back machine of last July 7th and remember that it was Kerensa who uttered these words:

“I Was There! I’m the reason why he pulled the gun.”

Kerensa was so pleased with himself as he boasted of his participation in the incident off camera to Mike Bluehair in his video of the incident and its aftermath.

And here he was just moments before — going after Strickland. This still shot from Mike Bivins’s Periscope video shows that by the time he came after Strickland one more time (they’d already assaulted him before), he had covered his face:

And here was Kerensa at a Trump gathering at PSU in June of 2016:

And here was one line of questioning at Strickland’s trial:

Kerensa: I was approached by, um, some individuals, that I guess could be described as  black bloc anarchist type who pointed him out from the position we were standing at when they approached me and pointed out that he [Strickland] was in the crowd.

DDA: Are you affiliated with black bloc?

Kerensa: No.

DDA: And what does that term, what does that mean?

Kerensa: Um,  I’m not an expert at this, but my understanding of it is black bloc…

DDA: Let me ask you a different question. In terms of the way they dress is more I’m asking…

Kerensa: [readily] They wear black clothing, uh, generally  and black masks to conceal their identity

DDA: Head to toe all black?

Kerensa: Yeah, everybody similar clothing to make them indistinguishable as individuals.

Kerensa testified he wasn’t part of the anarchist contingent who wear black attire, cover their faces and terrorize people.

He lied.

We’ve since seen the 300-400 pound man at other events. Recently, he’s taken to going without a mask, such as when he blocked cars at the Portland airport because …. Donald Trump! … and in Salem this past weekend because … Donald Trump!

Kerensa hanging out with his black bloc buddies in Salem where they attacked a cop and other rally goers.

Maybe he heard me on the live streamed presentation about Strickland saying something like ‘Dude, you’re like 400 pounds, people know who you are with or without that mask.’

No Shame: Strickland Assaulter Kerensa Runs to Cops to ‘Snitch’ on ANOTHER Videographer

Click here to give to Michael Strickland Defense Fund.

Benjamin Kerensa is a professional protester who bragged on video that he was the one who made Michael Strickland draw his weapon last July at the Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX rally and march:

“I Was There! I’m the reason why he pulled the gun.”

Strickland’s prudent defense against the approximately 400 pound Kerensa, who was among several people advancing on him, is what got the 37-year-old videographer in trouble with the law. Strickland now faces years in prison after being convicted of 21 counts. (Please see my previous posts on the case in the links at the bottom of this story.)

These same people had assaulted Strickland moments before while he was trying to cover the rally.

The head of the rally, John Slaughter, and Kerensa admitted in court that they were part of a conspiracy to assault Strickland to get him to stop covering the event. Kerensa actually admitted to assaulting the videographer in court.

Last weekend, at the “March 4 Trump” rally in Lake Oswego, Kerensa was back, this time threatening another videographer.

Kerensa has a long history of crime. He’s considered to be a dangerous, violent and disturbed individual. That’s what his lengthy rap sheet says.

You’d think that a convicted criminal (federal, state, local) who has seen the inside of a federal prison cell would want to stay as far away from cops as possible, but Kerensa seems to be drawn to them like a moth to a flame. In fact, there are those who consider Kerensa to be a police informant–which may explain why he’s never been charged with assaulting Strickland and why the man who impersonated an FBI agent and made bomb threats was brought in as a prosecution “victim” witness  in Strickland’s case.

See the video below from another ever-present protester who was threatened by Kerensa and who wonders if he’s really an informant.

Last weekend  Kerensa ran to the cops at the Lake Oswego protest to get videographer Leo Stratton in trouble for, laughably, “making third party contact” with the ever-present roly-poly-protester:

Apparently, the entire world is a “third party” to Kerensa.

Of course, the odd thing is, ‘snitching’ is verboten in the protester/anarchist world, remember?

Last November, protesters were handing out this flyer to people covering the event. It was a threat to them to take them out–much like what they did to Strickland. The last line reads:

“Consider this a warning.”

And Strickland’s own video from 2011’s Occupy Portland, shows one of the other protesters at the July event, Jessie Sponberg, and other familiar faces get in Strickland’s grill for recording them in the public park that they had “occupied”:

Now listen to the video by Mary Eng, who uses the handle Brain Garbage, talk about Kerensa, his attempted assault on her –with several well known witnesses– and her passing observation that he appears to be a police informant:

I can’t imagine why a person who’s a professional liar, as Kerensa is, would be helpful as a police informant, but there is one glaring reason why it could be plausible: He’s never been charged for assaulting Strickland — even after admitting it in court.

I don’t want to get carried away with flights of fancy or anything, but if you consider that a possibility, doesn’t it seem possible that the conspiracy to get rid of Strickland went higher than the protesters? Just a thought.

Strickland Presentation by Victoria Taft at Executive Club Wednesday

Announcement from the Executive Club:

Executive  Club  Meeting!
7:00 pm  •  Wednesday March 1st  •  Airport Shilo Inn

Multnomah County turned darker in February, and it wasn’t the rain.

In spite of the overwhelming statistics that indicate handguns
drawn in self-defense are almost never fired, and when they are
fired kill an innocent party only a tenth as often as police do…

In spite of clear video evidence that a mob was in pursuit of and
assaulting a journalist as he tried to get away…

In spite of the mob not being so much as charged with any crime…

It was “2nd Amendment be damned! Fear for life and limb, stand down!
So what if that journalist had already been hospitalized by one such
unprosecuted thug, and was now pursued by a several with hate-full eyes?”

Darkness took the win, by the hand of one judge:
the victim of that mob assault, Mike Strickland, was charged with,
and convicted of, 21 felonies.

Perverse “progressive” Portland’s very own political prisoner.

Our speaker this month takes just a bit of exception to this travesty.

Strickland Selective Prosecution Was All About His Political Beliefs

One can’t discuss the Mike Strickland gun case in Portland, Oregon without considering the first amendment ramifications of his prosecution.

Strickland, a freelance journalist, drew his legal, licensed, registered concealed hand gun while covering a Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX march and rally July 7, 2016.

After covering the event for awhile, Strickland was forced to draw his weapon, a  Glock handgun, to stop a phalanx of protesters who converged on him. The mob came from three sides in order to attack and stop him from covering the rally.

Believing he was in danger, Strickland swept the black bloc attired mob, without his finger on the trigger, to stop the threat coming at him from the left. He then protected his right flank, sweeping the people converging on him from the front.

His self defense move worked long enough for him to back away from the mob. When he got to relative safety,  he surrendered to police–who had just arrived about a block away.

Strickland drew his pistol after getting assaulted–roughed up if you prefer–by the same mob of people mere moments before. This time, he knew they were going to ‘get’ him–because they told him–and he drew.

Indeed, as video proves, the mob surrounding him began yelling “He’s got a gun! He’s got a gun!” before he even showed his gun or drew it. They knew he carried.

One was overheard on video bragging that they had gotten him to draw his weapon.

A witness in court testified there had been a conspiracy by anarchists to assault him and toss him out of the rally.

Strickland was questioned and released the night of his attack and he was ordered to court on a misdemeanor count of menacing.

When it was discovered who prosecutors had–the hated Laughing at Liberals guy–the 1 charge turned into 21 and the 1 misdemeanor turned into multiple felonies.

Deputy District Attorney, Kate Molina, decided that Strickland was a danger to society and–who knew?– was a “white nationalist” and “racist.”

The “racist” label was attached to Strickland for his coverage  of a “whiteness” lecture series which made national news. It certainly was not due to Strickland’s own beliefs and actions. But thereafter, protesters routinely yelled at rallies and marches that he was a racist or white nationalist in order to incite violence against him and ruin his video coverage of them.

The prosecutor took the word of the people who had-it-in-for Strickland and, using prosecutorial discretion, sprinkled fairy dust on the assaultive mob who then magically became ‘victims.’

Strickland’s attorneys told me they believe the prosecution always had been a political statement.

An outside attorney who lives in Vancouver, Washington arrived at the same conclusion and wrote me:

“Prosecutorial zeal and judicial hostility to the Second Amendment have combined in a perfect storm of injustice.”

In leftist, anti-gun Portland, a simple act of self defense was inflated into a 21 count felony indictment that could land the 37-year-old Portland journalist in prison for 50+ years.

Abject lies about Strickland’s ‘racism’ and ‘white nationalism’–made-up thought crimes–enhanced the charges against him. Deputy district attorney Kate Molina said so in court.

Strickland’s bail blew up to $250,000. The charges included 10 counts of unlawful use of a weapon, 10 counts of menacing and one count of disorderly conduct.

Court watchers told me that after fewer than five minutes of reflection, on Friday, February 10, 2017, Judge Thomas Ryan announced his verdict: guilty on all 21 counts.

By now you may have read the various posts about this case. Maybe you’ve seen the video of the mob going after Strickland.

Here’s what you don’t know.

Ever since Strickland was formally charged, his own video of what happened that day has been under seal. It saw daylight only to be shown in court the day the judge convicted him. The judge said the attack by the mob should have NO bearing on Strickland’s actions that day.

But there’s more.

Strickland has been ordered not to do what he did for a living. He can’t work.

  • He can’t blog or write.
  • He can’t go near any protest.
  • He can’t video any protest.

The institutional left in Portland has silenced a contrary political voice. Moreover, the institutional left in Portland has done so to a journalist.

The leftist protesters and some members of institutional Portland–Cease Fire Oregon, perhaps?–allowed this miscarriage of justice to occur to a person with an unpopular viewpoint who defended himself with unpopular weapon.

As you can read in my posts (see below), after Strickland’s incident, a local television photographer was injured while covering a mob, other reporters were threatened by anarchists if they dared use their cameras to show protesters … or else.

Anarchists were running the show on the streets. Who was running the prosecutor’s office?

The one guy who tried to defend himself was brought up on 21-felony charges and faces decades in prison. And the very people who assaulted him in order to shut him up haven’t been charged.

Let’s stop and appreciate this for just moment. Prosecutors, the mayor, police–institutional Portland–threw the book at a guy who defended himself from getting the shit beat out of him by a bunch of anarchists because they don’t like his viewpoint and were trying to stop him from reporting a story.

In short, if you defend yourself you could be thrown in prison just because they don’t like your political viewpoint. That’s a powerful message to send a community.

And Strickland can’t say one word to defend himself…or else.

Sounds familiar.

Strickland Trial Day 3: Only ‘Victim’ During Kerensa Testimony Was the Truth & Cops’ Testimony Helps Strickland

Prosecutors in the Mike Strickland case suffered yet another embarrassing blow when they put their star witness on the stand, felon and ‘victim’ Ben Kerensa.

Kerensa was seen on several videos at the July 7th Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX protest charging Strickland. The 400 pound man and others rushing him caused Strickland to draw his weapon and point it at the men rushing him. The prosecution calls him a ‘victim.’

What became clear as soon as he opened his mouth was that the only ‘victim’ in that courtroom was the truth.

Under cross examination Kerensa was found to have lied about:

  • Talking to police July 7, though there was a police report.
  • Emailing police information, though the email was never given to defense attorneys during discovery.
  • How many times Mike pulled his gun. Kerensa testified Strickland pulled it as many as 5 times.
  • Shoving Mike in the protest crowd.

Kerensa is an ecumenical felon, having been tried and convicted at both  federal and state levels. He went to prison for  impersonating FBI agents, been accused of extortion by a former boss, spent time in federal prison for making bomb threats on yet another former employer and a huge tech convention in San Francisco.

He was arrested for theft during the take over of Portland City Hall by protesters in October:

Kerensa and others menaced and surrounded the car of a couple who were trying to get to the airport but blocked by protesters a couple of weeks ago.

Viewers of KOIN 6 saw his antics during a live shot by a reporter covering the airport protest:

Observers told me that during Kerensa’s testimony the judge looked shocked and disconcerted. I don’t know what they’re basing that on. It could have been a case of gas for all I know, but that observation came from more than one court watcher.

Kerensa’s unbelievable testimony was followed up by Portland Police Officer Brandon Combs.

The cop, who also had been called by the prosecution and who was undercover and  in the crowd during the protest, testified Strickland pulled his gun once. He also testified that he didn’t see the initial assault by the anarchists in the crowd which precipitated the unholstering of Strickland’s weapon.

Another police officer Mihran Andonian testified that he had his gun out at “low ready” as Strickland made his approach.

This is how a court observer said his cross examination went:

He testified that Mike was compliant and did not resist. On cross-exam, the defense attorney was able to ask some hypotheticals against unsuccessful objections by the state. “What if Mike came running to you? Would you have used your gun?” Andonian’s answer, “No, because there were many officers around and Mr. Strickland would’ve been tackled to the ground.” Follow up hypothetical by defense attorney, “What if you were all alone and he came running at you? Would you then draw your gun?” Andonian’s response, “Yes, I would draw my gun.”

The last hypothetical in which the officer claimed he would have drawn his gun was the exact situation in which Strickland found himself.

The prosecution also called the downtown precinct commander at the time, Chris Davis, who testified they heard about the protest but didn’t have enough time to get uniformed cops out there in time.

This explains why Strickland couldn’t depend upon help from cops and why he felt the need to defend himself.

Next: The prosecution rests.

Strickland Day 2: Defense Waives Jury Trial & Prosecution Witness Admits Anarchists Plotted to Assault Journalist

Day-2 of Mike Strickland’s trial saw a pivotal moment in the case.

Lawyers for Strickland waived his right to a jury trial and opted to be tried solely by the judge.

Strickland is on trial for pulling his legally licensed, registered gun at protesters and anarchists as they rushed him to assault him–again–at a Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX rally last July 7th in downtown Portland.

Court watchers  reported Tuesday that the Portland  jury pool had so many anti-gun, anti-second amendment members that Strickland wouldn’t get a fair trial. One of the prospective  jurors  belonged to a an anti-gun group whose leader was pushing for Strickland to be prosecuted.

The Oregonian reported that 30% of the jury pool was against guns.

Previously, Strickland’s defense team moved for a change of venue which was denied by the judge.

In day-2 testimony, the first prosecution witness was absolutely picked apart by the defense.

Court watchers reported that the cross examination was so thorough that the defense attorneys, Jason Short and Chris Trotter, were able to use the witness’s testimony to their advantage.

Witness John Slaughter is a local sports coach. He’s had gigs at Benson High School and PCC. He’s also a frequent protester and one of the organizers of the July 7 Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX event.

Slaughter crossed paths with Strickland when the journalist was videotaping a ‘peaceful’ tribute to Orlando victims.

Activists gathered for the event immediately seized on Strickland, calling him names such as “white nationalist,” “racist” and other labels in an attempt to stop him from videotaping.

Eventually, one man grabbed his camera, explaining  that it was a ‘peaceful’ vigil and that he should leave, but that didn’t stop the hate from being heaped on Strickland by  ‘peaceful’ protesters.

A man wearing a dress began shrieking at Strickland and calling him, wrongly, a “white nationalist” and telling him to “get your white nationalist ass out of here”:

Activists who had gathered for the Orlando tribute were ‘triggered’ by Strickland enough to surround him, push him and try to take his camera away from him.

Let’s pause here for a second and take up the ‘white nationalist’ issue.

This white nationalist label and the left’s copious use of it to describe Strickland appears to come from the journalist’s coverage of the Portland Community College series on “whiteness.” The uncomfortable spotlight on one of the left’s pet issues–white privilege– angered them. Protesters began calling him a racist and white nationalist for showing (and sometimes mocking)  the lectures on his YouTube channel.

Strickland’s stories made national news.

That infuriated the organized left.

After Strickland was arrested for drawing his weapon, PCC and Portland State University, places where he found endless story ideas, immediately banned him from campus. That ban continues today.

Prosecutor Kate Molina used the left’s ‘white nationalist’ and ‘racist’ labels to increase and enhance the charges against Strickland and keep him behind bars for a longer period of time.

Molina never provided proof, rather she relied hearsay reports–from people like John Slaughter, anti-gun crusader (and frequent Strickland object) Penny Okamoto, and, who knows, maybe that guy in the dress, to say Strickland was somehow a racist.

This game of prosecutorial ‘telephone’ cost Strickland plenty. And their adolescent group think cost Strickland his freedom.

Back to the ‘peaceful’ Orlando tribute. Eventually, one man told Strickland he could video him and even gave his job title and phone number for public consumption.

That man was John Slaughter. He was the prosecution’s  first witness.

Slaughter testified that on July 7 a group of anarchists and protesters got together and conspired to go get Strickland. Their aim was to kick him out of the protest to prevent him from covering it.

Of course, he didn’t call it a conspiracy, but that’s what it was. Court watchers told me he also seemed to have no clue that planning an assault  was illegal.

Slaughter was one of the organizers of the Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot #PDX event.

  • He testified that Mike’s concealed Glock was openly carried. Wrong.
  • He testified that cops swarmed the place. Wrong.
  • He testified that some of their members were armed. Oops.
  • He didn’t know if his “event” was permitted.
  • He claimed Mike was a racist and troublemaker but testified that members of his group initiated the contact with Mike to get him thrown out.

Prosecutors are hanging their hats on the idea that somehow this protest was “family friendly” and that Mike came to disrupt it as a counter protester.

The organized left knows this isn’t the case, but lied in court to go after the man who holds up a mirror and makes them look at how stupid they’re acting.

As I’ve shared before,  before the July 7th march, self described members of the Black Panthers gave protesters a pep talk about attacking people, shooting cops and, ironically, urging them to carry guns.

One warned protesters that if they saw him go somewhere he “was going in violence.” He menacingly followed Strickland up the street after the journalist put his gun away and was backing away to safety.

And here’s John Slaughter endorsing this ‘family friendly’  violence right along with them:

Actually endorsing violence, plotting a crime and carrying it out has not resulted in Slaughter being banned from PCC, by the way.

This post about the day-2 events is late  because photos from my first post were reported to the court and got one our court watchers banned from the courtroom.

Next up: ‘Victim’ Ben Kerensa takes the stand.
