5th Listener Excellent and Random Thoughts

Sometimes the best things I read all are your emails. Herewith are a few good ones from today. The best emails are self contained and self explanatory.

From Uncle Ron:

From Andy from Beaverton about Al Gore taking ‘BIG OIL’ money from the terrorist friendly regime of Qatar when he sold his “Current TV” network and turned it into AlGoreZeera:

It’s funny listening to the left about this.  They could care less about the pro-Palestinian viewpoints, but are upset that Gore sold out to big oil.  Doesn’t anyone remember how much the Gore family benefited from Occidental Petroleum?

On what could be the same subject, Marc writes in:

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the galleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor—he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and wears their face and their garment, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation—he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city—he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.
– Cicero, 42 B.C.E.

From Rich on what could be a future blog post here about it:

I am a writer and by accident I ran across your ad on ArchNewsNow. I write for them (http://www.archnewsnow.com/features/Feature305.htm). I am also to former director of planning for the Portland metropolitan area. I got the federal government to provide $750,000 for a earthquake study of the Portland metropolitan area. The money helped map the region’s earthquake issues. And I learned that every 350 years a major earthquake in the 8-9 magnitude destoyed the place. It is called the Juan de Fuca. But no one is aware of this. I found out that my home was not covered, by insurance, for an earthquake. Now it is. Good luck. The timeline is up and is now. I hope that I do not live to experience it. All bridges will collapse. Most of downtown Portland will crash. It will be a disaster beyond all comprehension. And this story will only be told on the day after it happens. But that is the price the media pays for the short story.

Oregon and Washington Given D’s by Michelle Rhee’s Student’s First Organization

Michelle Rhee’s organization, Student’s First, has given Oregon and Washington both D’s in the organization’s National Policy Report Card.  Only two states received B minuses (Florida and Louisiana) and none received A’s.

The 2013 State Policy Report Card grades states on education laws and policies instead of education outcomes

Rhee is a controversial figure–but only because that’s the way the media portray her. She is in truth only controversial because she puts, as the name of her organization explicitly states, student’s first. That will not win you any awards by so called national education groups run by the teachers union cartels.

The former DC Education Chancellor was run out of town because she became a first believer parent choice and vouchers.

In putting the report together, StudentsFirst took into consideration whether the state elevates the teaching profession, empowers parents, spends wisely and governs well. No state received an A, and 11 states received an F.

Rees Lloyd:: Newark Mayor Has New Wrinkle in Old Totalitarian Game

What is the practical difference, in terms of freedom, between, Progressive liberals like Obama, Feinstein, Schumer, and the Mayor of Baltimore waving dollars at Americans (collected fromtaxpayers or borrowed from Communist China) and calling on Americans  to inform on one another’s ownership of guns, legal or illegal  —  including apparently children turning in their gun-owning parents a laBig Brother in  Orwell’s “1984” — and such self-proclaimed “socialists” as Lenin, Stalin, Hitler and Mao

waving guns instead of dollars at their subject peoples to disarm them and leave all the weapons in the hands of their totalitarian socialist governments, and, of course, in the hands of  other criminals?

The end result is the same–the end of freedom.

That doesn’t change because Progressive bless each other narcissistically in depriving Americans of their constitutional right to bear arms, on the ground that that their gooey liberal motives are really so pure and they only want to “serve the people” and, most of all, “protect the children.”

The philosopher George Santyana was right to warn that “those who forget their history are doomed to repeat it.” So was “Orwell” right. So were the American Founders who armed the American people to create freedom, and wrote a constitution protecting the right of the American people to remain armed if they were to preserve that freedom.

How a Former Marine’s Letter to Diane Feinstein Has Informed the Gun Debate and Left CNN’s Piers Morgan Without Ammo

You may have seen the letter written by Joshua Boston (see it below) to Senator Diane Feinstein about her latest round of proposed gun control legislation and thought, ‘Wow. Smart kid.’ After I got over the first pangs of, ‘Does this person really exist?’ I then tried to get him on my show. He’s very much in demand.
Look at this interview with Piers Morgan and see that the young man more than holds his own with the CNN talk host and serial attempter at gotcha talk. And note something more.

In a new move for Piers, he’s changed the trajectory of his hate for guns. He’s gone from deriding all guns, to deriding all semi automatic weapons, to wanting to ban versions of the AR 15. He states that people who own AR 15’s will open carry into movie theaters. Piers has been beaten down so far on the his ridiculous assumptions on guns–and those who carry them– that now he’s just going for the most absurd scenario to make his point. Ladies and Gentlemen, he is a beaten man. The former Marine schools him.

Senator Dianne Feinstein,
I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.
I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America. I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.
I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.
We, the people, deserve better than you.
Respectfully Submitted,
