CRC: Liberals Try to Take Credit for David Madore’s Expose on Bridge Project

When Vancouver businessman, David Madore, set out to battle back against the light rail boondoggle being brought to Clark County he put his money where his beliefs are.

The CEO of US Digital rounded up support and went to meetings where friends were ‘gaveled down,’ made fun of and ignored. So he and another business leader from Portland collected web experts, political allies (and foes), forensic accountants, economists, think tankers and who knows who else to begin an offensive against the light rail mafia. The target? The conveyor of light rail: The Columbia River Crossing Bridge Project.

Now the media have awakened from their slumber. We’re seeing the latest story about how boat makers told the CRC board that the bridge is too low. We’ve seen studies that the CRC will cost more than $10 billion including debt service. We’re seeing stories about the widening of Interstate 5 in the Rose Quarter which is a pinch point for traffic between Mexico and Canada.

After YEARS of sleeping on the job, rewriting press releases and looking at pretty pictures of bridges–which by the way–turned out to be pictures of a bridge that WOULDN’T WORK– reporters are finally starting to do some actual objective reporting!

Thank you, David Madore for getting this badly needed conversation started.

Now the left is attempting to get in front of the parade and claim credit for Madore’s hard work. They’re taking credit for pushing the bridge into what appears to be zombie project land. See my twitter exchange with Blue Oregon writer and Jefferson Smith cheerleader Carla Axtman after the latest CRC story came out.

The left hates the bridge because they don’t want cars to conveniently get anywhere. Sam Adams has spoken of “car abuse” in relation to the use of the bridge. Planners say they want only to help trucking, not cars, and that the goal of the bridge should be measured in, “the trip not taken.”

The right doesn’t like it because it’s prohibitively expensive. We just want a basic bridge without light rail.

SHOCKING NUMBERS FROM WASHINGTON: Obama IS the Food Stamp President

The food stamp program HAS DOUBLED IN SIZE since President Obama took office.

When Obama took office one in every 50 people were on food stamps. Now it’s one in seven. H/T to the Daily Caller who pointed out Senator Jeff Sessions floor speech where he revealed the latest Congressional Budget Office numbers on SNAP program expenditures which comprise 80% of the farm bill now being debated in the Senate.
And fraud continues apace. To the chick who tried to sell me a $20 SNAP /EBT card for $10 at the downtown Safeway recently: you’re committing fraud and you’re stealing from the American people.

Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rally Set for Noon Today at Terry Schrunk Plaza in Downtown Portland

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
That’s your first amendment to the US Constitution. It’s being broken right now by the Obama Administration which has written into ObamaCare a regulation requiring religious institutions to provide abortifacents, sterilization and birth control in their health insurance. This is in strict conflict with the religious beliefs of most Christians, but is a dagger in the heart of the pro life Catholic Church.

It’s shocking the Obama Administration would have stuck with the plan to place politics over religious freedom, but there it is. Lawmakers of faith from both political parties urged Obama and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to stop but they did not.
After the Catholic Church exploded in anger, the Obama Administration said it would fix this problem by rewriting the regulations but has not done so. It threw a bone to the Catholics by proclaiming they’d just have insurance companies pick up the tab for the health insurance. Insulting though that is, it’s beside the point because the Catholic Church and its various organizations are largely self insured, therefore it’s a distinction without a difference.
After it was clear the Obama Administration had no intention of changing the language of the bill, several large Catholic institutions sued Sebelius and the Obama Administration:
Notre Dame, Franciscan University of Steubenville, and dozens of Catholic hospitals and organizations have filed a total of 12 lawsuits today against Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and the Obama administration over the controversial HHS mandate.
The lawsuit challenges the Obama administration’s unprecedented mandate that attacks the freedom to practice religion without government interference. Under the HHS mandate, employers must provide insurance coverage that includes abortion-inducing drugs, as well as contraceptives and sterilization procedures.
Everyone from Occupy to the Tea Party to the ACLU should join with people of faith to oppose this frightening intrusion of government into the lives of its free citizens.
The Obama Administration should be repudiated. Join the rally today at noon at Terry Schrunk Plaza in downtown Portland because you’re next.
