Buffet is a key advisor to Obama and frequents Capitol Hill where he testifies and has access to sensitive non-public information (per source in first Insider Trading Blog post) about business and financial matters. The Treasury has now been “eyeing” Buffett to clean up Ally’s subsidiary Residential Capital’s mortgage mess. http://www.thestreet.com/story/11339156/1/treasury-eyes-buffett-for-ally-mortgage-fix-report.html According to the article they haven’t approached Buffet yet. Curious it would be announced through the media without checking with Warren first? Ally was formerly GMAC, the credit arm of General Motors, which was the subject of the current Administration’s bailout of GM. A little background about the shill of a Federal puppet can be found in last year’s article by Smart Money which stated, “You can’t miss the print ads for Ally Bank posted all over Chicago streets, almost laughable deceptions aimed at covering up the outfit’s failed history and ongoing government ownership. “We don’t take money. We take care of it,” boasts one ad, more than a little ironic considering the bank is 73.8% owned by the Federal Government. They don’t take money? Maybe not from customers, but from taxpayers they’ve taken billions. For a company that received numerous bailouts exceeding $17 billion dollars in total, it takes chutzpah to run ads promising to “treat your money like it’s actually yours.”” http://www.smartmoney.com/invest/stocks/ally-banks-straight-talk-is-crooked-1300374728021/ Ally which touts its success and fiscal prudence has yet to take its stock public in an IPO to pay back the majority of its outstanding debt to US Taxpayers. http://www.foxbusiness.com/industries/2012/02/17/with-ipo-in-doubt-ally-could-unload-auto-lending-banking-units/ What would prompt Warren Buffet’s interest that is unavailable to those in the general public? Perhaps it is nothing more than being on a first name basis with the President, Secretary of Treasury, Federal Reserve Chair, several prominent members of both houses of Congress and assurances that his investment would be safe. FYI.  Something I think we have known for a while but the Press finally seems willing to admit.

From CNBC citing Citigroup,

“The bank estimates that total North American energy production will rise from 15.4 million barrels per day in 2011 to almost 26.6 million barrels per day by 2020, boosting gross domestic product (GDP)  and creating ripple effects throughout the economy.”

“In its analysis, Citigroup acknowledges infrastructure bottlenecks and legislation that blocks exports of crude oil of U.S. origin. It also points out that new environmental regulations could prevent the scenario from playing out. But the analysts point out the surge in energy production could be game-changing.

“It would not only improve incomes and create jobs, but also improve national energy security and reverse perennial current account deficits.””

And even the New York Times admits, “At the same time, domestic oil production is actually increasing after decades of decline, meaning we have to import less than before.” http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/21/opinion/oil-under-our-noses.html?_r=1&ref=opinion

Perhaps President Obama should just get his Administration out of the way!!

Oregon’s Political Machine Gears Up to Steal an Election?

Author and columnist John Fund said in Portland over the weekend that Oregon elections officials love to confuse people into thinking their corruption is actually incompetence.

People forgive incompetence. It’s bad form to actually look corrupt.

Oregon’s Secretary of State Kate Brown looks like both today.

You see, what Fund had no way of knowing is that just hours before his speech Saturday night, Oregon elections officials had finalized a plan to look incompetent while apparently trying to steal the Bureau of Labor and Industries race for incumbent Democrat, Brad Avakian.

Both Avakian and his opponent, State Senator Bruce Starr, were both under the impression that the law stated their election would be held on the same day as the Oregon primary May 15th.

But Brown pulled a rope a dope before the deadline for the May ballot on Friday afternoon. When Starr called to make sure all paperwork was in, Brown’s staff told him his election had been MOVED TO NOVEMBER.

Brown’s office hadn’t bothered to tell anyone. Surprise!

It’s believed that a November election will help Avakian. A lower turn out May primary would likely aid Starr.

Now do you know why he’s suing the Secretary of State?

Here’s Starr’s explanation for the lawsuit. Both he and Secretary of State candidate, Knute Buehler were on the program yesterday starting at about 12:16. Find that here.

County Push Poll Tries to Tamp Down Clackastani Rebellion

And it appears as if they tried to achieve it in this apparent push-poll of 400 residents.

From the Clackamas Review we see the question the pollsters asked:

“The county has committed to pay for $25 million of the $1.5 billion project. It is projected to create 14,000 temporary and permanent jobs and expand transportation options to accommodate the area as the population increases. Knowing this, do you feel positively, negatively or neutral about this project?”

Even with that obvious bias in the formation of the question 37% said they were positive while 34% said they were negative. Most of the positive responses came from people who have lived in the county for less than ten years.

The story alludes to the fact that the County commissioned the study but doesn’t make it clear.  However, it does tell us,

The poll by DHM Research was done between Feb. 23 and 27 for $25,000.

Commissioner Charlotte Lehan, who’s fighting for her job as chair from three other contenders, says this poll really shows what a great job they’re doing:

“This survey is an extremely valuable source of public input,” said Clackamas County Commission Chairwoman Charlotte Lehan. “Our residents have told us that they are overwhelmingly pleased with the services the county provides. Commissioners and staff will use this input to inform our thinking on many key issues and priorities going forward.”

Apparently you can go online and take the survey yourself through tomorrow.

The community survey had been conducted every four years, and will now be conducted every two years. This year’s survey included an online component for the first time. The public can take an online version of the survey through Thursday, March 22, at clackamascountysurvey.com.

Unfortunately when you go to the poll it’s closed:

MORE Oregonian Call Girl Caldwell Fall Out

At this story at Willamette Week we find out more of the details of former editorial page editor Bob Caldwell’s death inducing tryst with a prostitute (see previous posts herehere, and here).

It seems the (unnamed) cheerleader turned prostitute is an internet call girl of some (probably ill) repute who possesses a certain specialty that keeps the johns coming back for more. Reportedly feedback from former customers sing her

praises. No word on if there was a Yelp account but we can only imagine she would have rung up boffo ratings.

However we also find out a bit more about Kathleen Glanville, the editor who lied about the details of her friend’s death.

WW has subsequently learned Glanville did more than provide a false story to her paper: She also drove to the young woman’s apartment and moved Caldwell’s vehicle from the scene. Glanville declined comment.

Gulp.

Democrats Should be Embarassed by This Woman

The Democrats have gone from, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country,” to “Ask not what you can do for your country, ask for free stuff.”
Mitt Romney had it exactly right when he told a young woman who actually thought she’d come up with a ‘gotcha’ question that if she was looking for ‘free stuff’ she’d better throw her lot in with President Obama.

Men in High Heels Against Rape

Stop the Madness

Have you ever had a team building assignment where you had to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes?  I want that hour back. Now American men are being asked to double down on the craziness by donning high heels and spending a day marching against rape.

Yes, you read that right.

The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes latest “Walk for fill in the blank”  idea probably sounded cool when some seniors in search of a mandatory project hatched it over cold pizza while strung out on Mountain Dew.

“Hey, I know, let’s do a march against rape! Everybody but rapists are against that, right? Now, what’s our hook? What will get us noticed? Wait–let’s punk guys into wearing high heels and tell them it will help end violence against women! …So epic!”

So now men are walking down the streets of America in high heels.

I’m no prude. I’ve seen men in drag on buses, in marches –outside Spartacus leather shop in downtown Portland. I have an autographed picture of Darcelle. I buy my cosmetics at the downtown Nordstrom MAC counter! Can’t we leave the gay crossing dressing to, well, gay cross dressers?

Men are already carrying purses, for crying out loud. Can’t we just stop the madness? Can’t we just leave alone what heterosexual men we have left?

I like men being men, not Nancy boys. If men just stand up in their own shoes and speak out– like men– against raping women and then not actually not go out and rape women, I’m good with that.

Let’s allow them to be against violence like the men we’d like them to be.

Just a thought.
