Did Democrats forget their past, or are they just ignoring what one they considered one of the betters once stood for?

“A nation which has forgotten the quality of courage which in the past has been brought to public life is not as likely to insist upon or reward that quality in its chosen leaders today.”

Can you imagine the dismay of President John F. Kennedy if he knew, when he wrote that in the beginning of “Profiles In Courage,” that he was describing not only his own brother, but the future of his party as well?
