The kook er State Senator from the “U” district thinks allowing 14 year olds to vote in school board elections is a great idea. Some ‘bright’ kids came to him and told him that ‘education without representation’ is bad. Funny, I thought that’s why we had parents. Instead of telling the little tykes to come on down to Olympia and see how the system works or some such thing, Senator White put their request in bill form (SB 5621) and it’s received two hearings already.
Allows students, having attained the age of fourteen as of the date of the election, to vote in school board elections for the district in which they are enrolled and in good standing.
Says the good State Senator:
To be sure, there would be very real challenges associated with implementing the legislation, such as verifying voter eligibility and increasing the number of different ballots printed and issued by an elections office. However, irrespective of one’s position on the issue or the likelihood that the bill will pass, it is certainly worth having a conversation about this issue.
Don’t worry, Washingtonians, your budget disaster and problems with your terrorist/illegal alien friendly drivers licenses are in good hands with this guy.
And, thanks, Lew, this provided me with the biggest laugh of all yesterday on the program. Gadzooks.
