Republican Governor candidate Rob McKenna gets the Stand for Children endorsement?! Say wa? The Stand for Children outfit usually supports Democrats. McKenna says he wants to get more money into education. Recently the Washington State Supreme Court took the state to task for siphoning money away from school and toward their pet projects. McKenna says he wants the funding to return to the schools. Why doesn’t this group just call itself “Stand for Money” and Stand for Truth in Advertising?

Joe Zarelli surprised a lot of people when he retired before the filing deadline Friday night. Ann Rivers has decided to run for his 18th District State Senate seat.

Vancouver CEO David Madore has filed to battle Marc Boldt for his seat on the Clark County Commission in November. Pat Campbell, a former Vancouver City Councilman has also filed for the seat as an Independent. Former Oregon lawmaker Eileen Qutub files to replace Craig Pridemore in the 49th Senate race.
