Randy Leonard: Beyond "Loyalty" to Sam

Portland City Commissioner Randy Leonard has displayed his infamous and frightening angry streak again at City Hall, hurtling after a man who told the Commissioner what he thought of Mayor Sam Adams.
KATU reports the incident occured Friday outside of City Hall when the TV show “Leverage” was filming an episode. A production crew member apparently approached Leonard and talked of Adams sexually going after kids. Leonard believed the man used incidiary language and immediately launched into a loud, F bomb laced tirade against him.
Hard to imagine but the clash actually devolved further when the man was ordered to show ID and employment information by a person from the Mayor’s office. The man claimed Leonard called his boss in an effort to get him fired.
Now do you see why people at City Hall are afraid to speak out or sign the recall petitions? Leonard was willing to go after the job of a guy he didn’t even know based on the man’s opinion! Imagine what would happen if someone like that worked for the city. How many members of the thought police reside in Portland’s City Hall, anyway?
Randy’s supposed loyalty to Sam Adams is irrational. This isn’t the first time he’s jacked someone up to “defend” Sam. He’s appeared in the fetish/SM laced spoof for Candidates Gone Wild, he’s gone overboard to demonstrate his “pro gay” street credentials, demeaning everyone involved in the tawdry display–including the voters of all political spectrums, and recently has spoken from the pulpit, er, his desk in council chambers, quoting scripture out of context about not judging people among other things. (I still can’t find his grandmother’s church he waxed on about at council)
Randy’s lost complete sight of what is right and ethical and gotten it confused with his “loyalty,” apparently afraid that if he did the right thing and called on Sam to resign he’d lose his gay friendly street cred.
Sounds to me like Randy is overcompensating for a man who clearly can stand up for himself. Nobody’s going after Sam because he’s gay, but because he lied. Everyone knows that—except his overcompensating friend, Randy Leonard.
This isn’t loyalty, it’s psychosis.
Gotta go. More later on the show.
