Now you know where your (local) tax dollars are going: programs like the one seen here in the Zero today about how the Portland Development Commission (?!) is giving out grants for the likes of Nike, Columbia Sportswear, REI etc to be “sustainable.”
No, there’s still no working, meaningful definition of the word “sustainable,” but we’re giving money out for it.
PDC says it has given a $30,000.00 grant for the program. $30K isn’t much as bail out money goes, but it strikes me as odd that local tax dollars are being tossed into a federal pot of money for these companies. Weird, no?
Just another case of our money being slowly drained away for programs that have nothing to do with the PDC. Which just goes to prove my axiom: Government believes in “sustainability” until it comes to what’s in your wallet.
