Maxident* Proves Buses Work Better, Are Cheaper and More Flexible

From a Tri Met watcher who is amused by the apparent torrent of horribles resulting from an apparently drunk driver who messed up the Loot Rail tracks in Beaverton. Amused  because the ‘fix’ is a cheaper bus. Surprise!

Buses just drive around the problem, for a lot less  money
and a lot faster, as they fix the tracks and power lines

Police said an impaired motorist drove onto the MAX tracks late Tuesday.
BEAVERTON — Police say a man attempted to take the Oregon 217 exit off U.S. 26 late Tuesday and ended up on the eastbound MAX tracks near the Sunset Transit Center.
The driver, Jeff John Robertson, 27, of Vancouver, was arrested on accusations of reckless driving, driving under the influence and criminal mischief.
When police arrived, they found the BMW Robertson was driving had landed on the tracks. A tree also was obstructing the tracks.

MAX Blue/Red lines between downtown Portland and Beaverton TC are disrupted after a car crash damaged the overhead wire. We are shortening the length our shuttle buses are running. Shuttle buses will serve stops between Washington Park and Beaverton TC. Expect delays through 6 p.m.

Red Line is only serving stops between PDX Airport MAX and Galleria/Library stations. Red Line riders, take Blue Line to travel between Galleria/Library and Washington Park.
Thank you for your continued patience as we repair the wire and assure that trains can safely run through the area.

*Maxident is a term coined by Brooks Burford. Awesome.
