Kitzhaber: Post Partisan? Be Serious.

Former Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber continues to punctuate his rhetoric about running “for a third term” with phrases like, “get past this partisanship,” “too much stakeholder politics,” and the like and then saying he’ll stop all of that.

Before you buy the hype, Kitzhaber says this at the same time he claims he couldn’t get his agenda done–with the sole exception of the Oregon Health Plan (Gee, thanks for covering transgender surgery at taxpayer expense! Thanks for covering killing grandma but not cancer drugs!)– because he was working with a Republican legislature. This is also at the same time he enthuses over being able to work with a Democrat controlled legislature.
Ok, John, which is it?
You weren’t willing to work with the guys on the other side of the aisle at the time. Let me get this straight: you were called, “Dr. No” because of your zeal for less partisanship? You vetoed a record number of bills!
Who’s buying this tripe?
Kitzhaber’s desire for “post partisanship” and expunging incivility from the process lasts as long as he gets his way. And when he doesn’t? He’s the biggest crybaby in politics. He is, after all, the man who declared Oregon “ungovernable.” That claim is only believable, I suppose, if he’s referring to bucking the public employees union bosses who really run this state, but that’s not what he meant. He meant he wasn’t getting his way and so took his ball and left the playground. Past is prologue. Kitzhaber’s depending on your ignorance of his past and his tight jeans to allow him to once again park his fuzzy slippers under the bed at Mahonia Hall.
