As the grand jury said in a letter (here), this is a case of police procedures that need changing. I would add, this isn’t about race. If it were me I would want the most help in highlighting the case with the city, but I’m not sure raising the specter of racism by bringing out the professional race hustler, Jesse Jackson, to town is terribly helpful–unless you want an 8×10 glossy.  Here.

The situation is excruciatingly sad. The 25 year old victim in this case was distraught over the death of his brother earlier that day from a lingering disease. Campbell was threatening suicide and had a gun in his apartment. The cops knew this because reportedly during texts with the victim he told them about the gun and the circumstances of why he was distraught. After several bean bag rounds, Campbell was turning to go back into his apartment when the Portland Police Bureau Officer shot him.
The cops had to keep him from the gun, which is procedure.
The grand jury, which cleared the officer of wrong doing, wrote a letter to the city in which they blamed the training protocol of the PPB.
The grand jury had a different take of the situation saying the police protocol was lacking and that the officer who fired the fatal shot wasn’t in the loop on the information (here),

The jury said Officer Ronald Frashour, who fired a shot from an AR-15 that struck Campbell in the back, had little information about Campbell’s mental state, or the ongoing police negotiations . He arrived at the scene with details from police dispatch, that Campbell was armed and suicidal, but didn’t get updates as he stood in the Sandy Terrace parking lot, aiming his sights on Campbell’s “center of mass.”
He didn’t learn, for example, Campbell “had specifically and emphatically said he was not going to hurt himself or anyone else,” jurors said.

If this is about protocol, why is a professional race hustler being brought in? And why is Al Sharpton’s organization “investigating” the incident? Is Aaron Campbell dead because of his race?
