…Which is a little less than 10%. The daily paper biz is a tough racket these days but the Zero’s political slant didn’t help endear it to readers, either. The following is from the Portland Business Journal (here):
According to an Audit Bureau of Circulations report in April, in the prior six months The Oregonian’s daily Monday-Friday circulation fell 4.76 percent, from 319,624 to 304,399 and its Sunday circulation fell 3.70 percent, from 375,914 to 361,988.
In a three-year period, from March 2005 to March 2008, the Oregonian has lost 33,307 daily readers and 43,308 Sunday readers.
Nice buyout package, though:
The voluntary buyout applies to employees with more than 10 years of experience. It gives affected employees two years of pay and two years of company-paid health care.
This paper’s looking better allll the time.
