No brag, just fact. One year after Occupy Portland took over downtown parks, do you think I had them pegged from the git-go? I do. Let’s start with some back ground and then, in the first of a series, look back at those first blog posts one year ago.
On September 17, 2011, the backers of Occupy Wall Street planted a story via a New York Times reporter (and Occupy supporter) about a “spontaneous” rock concert rumored to be happening at a little piece of real estate in the financial district near Wall Street. The place was called Zucotti Park.
The concert was a fraud. But the hundreds who showed up wouldn’t know for quite some time. Their 2011 version of Woodstock was a sham and was all done in the service of President Obama, unions and their progressive buddies to build momentum for his 2012 election. It quickly turned into a rally against Wall Street, just as planned. 
The gathering, which included their friends in the media and fellow progressives elected to public office, was quickly embraced as a “movement.” That, too, was a fraud.
The fact is, the Occupy “movement” was actually just another name for the same old people on the fringe left.

The far lefties with their union friends, planned and financially supported the protests there and wherever there was an “Occupy” event.
On October 6, 2011, a group, supported by the AFL-CIO and other unions, gathered together to reveal Portland’s response to Zucotti Park. They called it Occupy Portland. They planned to take over Waterfront Park after a long march through the streets of Portland. They didn’t have a permit. They told the cops they didn’t think they should have to get a permit. Hence, a pattern had begun between the Occupiers and Mayor Sam Adams: We tell you what we’re going to do and you comply.
Eventually, the Occupiers moved to Chapman and Lownsdale Parks where they pitched tents, blocked main street, peed in bottles, pooped on cop cars, made molotov cocktails, attacked women, contended with lice, sparked up in their hotbox “medicine tent” and deprived Portland of the use of those parks for 224 days.
Throughout the “occupation” we showed up and told the truth about them.
This is the first of my blog posts from that time. This begins the series of Occupy Portland One Year Later. They’re not all pretty posts. Some are just slap dash but combined they tell the story of a duplicitous system; of a double standard of law enforcement: one for people with whom the electeds agree and one for the rest of us.
We begin with the original announcement of an Occupy movement and march. The Occupy folks–the supposed leadersless pack–sent out and then denied sending out the announcement of the march to Waterfront Park.

*UPDATED* Occupy Portland: If You Threaten the Cops You Don’t Need a Permit

As I have pointed out here the Portland Police Bureau received a fax–who sends those?–to the cops theatening illegal behavior such as marching in the street, refusing to get a permit, occupying local parks. So what happened when the rabble hit the streets at 2 yesterday afternoon? The PPB LET THEM march in the street without a permit and sleep in the parks.
That’s getting tough Portland!
Mayor Sam Adams even commented on his twitter account that he was happy to see such a peaceful event. Peaceful, maybe. Illegal, you bet. Would they have been peaceful if the City had said no to marching in the streets without a permit? Ah, that’s a good question. And obviously it was a question Sam and the PPB had the answer for: no. Nonetheless the Mayor gamely met with the protesters yesterday outside City Hall:

The leaders of the “leaderless” Occupiers told their minions via bullhorn yesterday what the rules were: “You speak only for yourself, not for Occupy Portland.” Thank goodness, we wouldn’t want to get a bad message out there!
And that brings us to our Portland rabble arrested overnight for vandalizing a police car among other things:Portland Police Bureau Central Precinct night shift officers after they were observed by a citizen “tagging” several locations in Downtown Portland, including a marked Portland Police Bureau patrol car. Some of the businesses that were tagged include the Pioneer Square Starbucks location and a building located at 888 SW 5th Avenue.
The tags that were painted include, “Occupy Portland,” “Wall Street Loves No One,” “Perspective,” and “Occupy.”
Rabble The guy in this photo is 21 Nolan Zane MacGregor. He and his underaged buddy Alexander Lijenquist were busted. Lijenquist was released to his parents. They must be so proud that their 17 year old was out till 1am using illegal products (spray paint) and vandalizing “the man.”
The police tell us that was the only thing of significance that happened over night. Can’t wait for this morning, then, when the cops have to clear out the parks they let the protesters illegally camp in last night:
