This measure calls for a constitutional change allowing the Governor to marshal resources in an “emergency.”

The governor already has the ability to do this statutorily, but with this measure he has less legislative interference to ‘fix’ a catastrophic disasters. Under this measure, the Guv would be able to label anything a ‘catastrophic disaster’,  like say, man made global warming or coal dust off of trains and, with a smaller number of legislators that usually required, raise funds to attack the ’emergency.’

I imagine John Kitzhaber rewriting what is an emergency much the same way he has “rewritten (by fiat) crime and punishment and education reform in Oregon.

Backers will tell you that this constitutional change limits the Governor to only 30 days from declaration of the ’emergency.’ However, there’s nothing to stop him from declaring the same emergency one second after the first 30 days elapses.

Don’t forget: our legislators often declare ’emergencies’ in order to fast track implementation of legislation.

Don’t be a chump.

This is not just a no, this is a no way!

This politically correct measure chick-washes the entire state constitution to make it gender neutral.

Stop it. You people keep saying you want to preserve our heritage. Well, keep the charming language. We’re not stupid.  We all know what “he” means: it means all of us which has been embodied in law.

As Gloria Steinem might have said, “Women need to chick-wash the constitution  like a fish needs a bicycle.”

This measure prohibits any real estate transfer taxes on your property.

This wonderful measure is to stop the greedy progressives from stealing money from your pocket when buying and selling homes. Of course, they did nothing to earn this money and do nothing FOR it–THEY JUST WANT TO STEAL IT!

Tell these greedy jackwagons to keep their paws off your money by voting YES on this measure.

Remember to vote YES.

This measure legalizes marijuana and then puts the state in charge of it.

What the what?!!

Really. This measure sets up the state to run the dope business.

We’ve been trying to get the state out of the rum running biz for years. Now these crack heads want to put the state in CHARGE OF DOPE and open dope stores!!

I don’t care what you think about marijuana, creating a new government program to dispense it is madness. Reefer madness.

As Nancy Reagan would have said: JUST SAY NO.

I’m not an angler per se, but I know a political angling when I see it. Look at the people speaking in favor of disallowing gillnetting:

• The fuzzy puppy coalition against toe nail clipping
• Social justice for water breathers
• St. Salmon the Icon
• Fish First

OK, I made up those groups but their dopplegangers are in your voter pamphlet and you’ll get the picture.

This may be the first time I have ever agreed with the far left Ecumenical Ministries people. They believe this will prevent people from earning a living. I agree.

But that’s cuz I’m messing with the pollsters. I know the backers of turning the dog track into a casino have halted their campaign because they know they’re going to lose. I’m voting yes just to blow up their polling.

Phases out the inheritance tax on large estates and families. Hallelujuah!

Taxing people’s stuff when they die is stealing from the grave and your family. What business does the government have in taking a share in what you have built after you’ve already paid taxes on it?

As a result of Oregon’s high inheritance tax, people literally move out of Oregon in order to avoid inheritance taxes when they die. People literally lose the family house/farm because the state forces them to sell in order to pay the ridiculous inheritance taxes.

I think this kid’s got the right idea. This is just plain stealing.

So vote yes to phase out the inheritance tax.

The kicker may be whack, but the pretext under which this measure operates assumes a company’s money is first the state’s and that’s anathema.

Stop stealing and prioritize spending and you won’t need to keep contriving ways to steal money from hard working citizens.
