Tea Party "Terrorists" Versus "Standing Down" for Occupy

Just one day after Judicial Watch revealed documents showing the Obama Administration orders to “stand down” and go easy on Occupy Portland protesters (see our posts here and here), we’re reminded of a report that same Obama DHS has been targeting CONSERVATIVES for scrutiny.

San Diego radio talk host, Roger Hedgecock, along with Stephen Gordon of the Liberty Papers blog wrangled out of the DHS a copy of a report targeting conservatives and libertarians back in 2009.

Author and blogger Michelle Malkin thought the report sounded looney until she talked with DHS officials herself and verified that what she called this “piece of crap” “report” was no more than an iteration of anti Tea Party talking points writ large.

But in light of the recent Judicial Watch report giving Occupy Portlanders a free pass on federal lands, the treatment of the Tea Party stands in stark contrast. One’s given a pass and other group is deemed extremist racists.

See the report after the jump:

See Michelle’s report here on the Department of Homeland Security report here.

Here’s a link to the report.

Malkin provides commentary and excerpts. The following is an example.

It is no coincidence that this report echoes Tea Party-bashing left-wing blogs (check this one out comparing the Tea Party movement to the Weather Underground!) and demonizes the very Americans who will be protesting in the thousands on Wednesday for the nationwide Tax Day Tea Party.
From the report, p.2:

Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.

From the report. p. 3:

(U//LES) Rightwing extremists are harnessing this historical election as a recruitment tool. Many rightwing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restrictions on firearms ownership and use. Rightwing extremists are increasingly galvanized by these concerns and leverage them as drivers for recruitment. From the 2008 election timeframe to the present, rightwing extremists have capitalized on related racial and political prejudices in expanded propaganda campaigns, thereby reaching out to a wider audience of potential sympathizers.

(U) Exploiting Economic Downturn
(U//FOUO) Rightwing extremist chatter on the Internet continues to focus on the economy, the perceived loss of U.S. jobs in the manufacturing and construction sectors, and home foreclosures. Anti-Semitic extremists attribute these losses to a deliberate conspiracy conducted by a cabal of Jewish “financial elites.” These “accusatory” tactics are employed to draw new recruits into rightwing extremist groups and further radicalize those already subscribing to extremist beliefs. DHS/I&A assesses this trend is likely to accelerate if the economy is perceived to worsen.

Notice that the Obama Administration believes if Tea Party folks are racist if they want to reduce government spending–after the President inflated the spending through expansion of welfare, food stamps, jobless benefits and “stimulus” spending which was (wink, wink) ever intended as a redistributive anti poverty program (See Stanley Kurtz’s book, “Spreading the Wealth” and Jonathan Alter’s book, The Promise if you don’t believe it).

The Obama Administration actively chose NOT to go after Occupy Portland protesters. Why? Because obviously they’re his base. That’s the only thing Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton and Breitbart’s Lee Stranahan could figure. Hear my interviews here.

The Feds did not want to go after Occupy Portland even though there were open members of the ELF and ALF present; anarchists; molotov bomb makers; a convicted rapist who literally tried to throw a cop under a bus; registered sex offender/s while 24 children were in residence. See my chestnut of a post about all of it here.

So while they WERE BREAKING the law, the Obama Administration chose to look the other way. While WE WERE NOT breaking the law the watchful eye of the Obama Administration was on US.

No need for a directive to stand down for Tea Party members but we got the scrutiny anyway.
