Clackastanis Rebuffed by Oregon Supreme Court

The Clackastani Rebels have suffered another set back in their efforts to stop Clackamas Commissioners from issuing bonds to pay for the county’s portion of light rail funding.

The Oregon Supreme Court has lifted the stay on the sale of the bonds which had been granted to the Clackastanis last week. The stay was sought because the Clackamas County Commissioners were trying to get the bonds issued before the election on Tuesday, September 18th.

From the Zero:

The court’s decision today gives the county the option of scheduling another bond sale before a divisive anti-light rail initiative on the Sept. 18 ballot would, if approved, take effect.

If the measure passes, County Clerk Sherry Hall would have 10 days to certify the result before the measure could take effect. That means county officials might be able to schedule another bond sale or arrange for private financing before Sept. 28.

The Clackamas County Commissioners have done everything they can to do an end run around the people. Please see the timeline in a near by post.
