Here’s what the White House is encouraging you to do if anyone “misinforms” the public about health care:
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
Here’s a 5th Listener’s missive to the snitch line at the White House:
Dear White House:
I just heard this request and found it to be fishy…can’t you find better things to use our tax-payer dollars for, like help people in Africa to rid their country of Malaria and improve their quality of life? Or maybe improve the conditions of our streets, hey, maybe fight crime. Gee wiz people, come on…I feel like I am back on the playground.
Sincerely,
Rachel

Here’s what Congressman David Wu has put on his web page after a key vote on July 17th:
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today Congressman David Wu released the following statement immediately after voting to pass comprehensive health care reform in the Committee on Education and Labor, the first House committee to take up this legislation:
“Americans deserve better than the health care status quo. They deserve quality health care that they can afford, that doesn’t deny them for preexisting conditions. They deserve to keep their coverage if they lose their job.
After an all-night work session, the House took one of the first steps toward comprehensive health care reform this morning when the Education and Labor Committee, which I am a member of, passed the America’s Affordable Health Choices Act. President Obama keeps saying, ‘We are going to get this done.’ Passing the health care reform bill out of the Education and Labor Committee is a major step in that direction. We are trying to build on what works in our health care system and fix the parts that are broken.
No one is talking about a status quo. He’s misinforming us! How come he says nothing of the republican plans that will keep people with their own insurance? He’s misinforming us!
What about the ideas to make health insurance:
Portable, untethered to employment, readily available from PRIVATE insurance companies, allow companies to sell insurance across state lines, allow people to decide what kind of coverage they need by getting rid of costly government mandates, stop jack pot justice and bring on some tort reform so doctors don’t get stuck with hundreds of thousands of dollars in malpractice insurance costs just to keep unscrupulous attorneys from bringing big time lawsuits —you know, like the baby whisperer, John Edwards.
