Today’s Columbian headline, Baird applauds response to oil spill, After tour of Gulf, Congressman says Obama, BP doing ‘pretty good job,’ but not Louisiana Gov. Jindal
“I don’t think the public has an appreciation of the magnitude of the effort to respond to this.”
“We’ve got to give credit where credit’s due. The Obama administration has done a pretty good job, and compared to other companies, BP has done a pretty good job.”
“I have very little patience with the governor of Louisiana. The game is, if you are a local official, pick a tremendously costly, questionably effective and scientifically dubious measure, demand that the federal government do it, and if they balk for either fiscal or scientific reasons, blame them and say they just don’t care.”
Is Baird sucking up for an administration job in the Obama White House after he retires in January?
He seems to be the only person to date applauding Obama’s golf games while the Gulf of Mexico languishes in oil washing up on beaches. What has Obama done except play golf and visit for photo ops?
