$20,000,000.00 is the amount the City of Portland will announce tomorrow that it’s short,
according to Willamette Week (here). And why will the City be short of money? Because business license fees are down. And why are business license fees down? Because there are fewer businesses. The recession has taken a toll and businesses are LEAVING Portland in greater numbers than in neighboring areas (here). And what did Oregon choose to do to the remaining businesses and individuals? Fee them and Tax them. And what did that do to business? Made them want to leave here, here, here, here, here, here, here,
And what do Randy, Sam, Dan, Nick et al choose to do with water and sewer money? ‘Jack it for bike paths (here)(here). And how much did they steal? $20,000,000.00.
Fiscal insanity breeds business flight. Please make a note of it.
