Democrats are in a better position to win this seat in a special election and I don’t only mean because of the electoral advantage in the 1st CD. The Republican choice last time, Rob Cornilles, has been toying with the idea of running again but doesn’t have a campaign superstructure in place as does Brad Avakian for instance.
I talked to Oregon GOP leader, Allen Alley, yesterday on the program and he says that if the election were held today the newly redistricted lines would be in effect. That means the D’s still hold an advantage but less so now due to the 1st CD moving out of Multnomah County slightly.
