The same nut who brought you the “Sarah Palin didn’t actually give birth to Trig” rumor mongering is the guy who wrote this piece. Nice subhead, huh?
Remember now children, Republicans are dumb! Talk about your double speak. Up is down, down is up. The usual meme for the left trotted out again.
Didn’t we already go through this with the jive about GW Bush being a dummy and then we found out the Yale undergrad and Harvard grad was smarter and had better grades than his Yalie opponent, John Kerry?

Bernie Giusto:
Obama Critics Will Probably Fall For It!

The one thing you have to give the Obama at any cost crowd is they are very skilled at taking us off topic.  Andrew Sullivan’s Newsweek article really is not aimed making us uncomfortable with an under achieving conservative field of candidates or their political entourage. It is not meant to be a political IQ check of the other side.

Nor is it about sparking a discussion of Obama opponents’ inability to really surface the Obama record of under performance as President.  Its all about using a headline to get the conservative game plan to change and by changing the political playing field

Sullivan in fact has nothing but the best to say about Obama.  Its that he just doesn’t understand how conservatives can’t get it right. Obama has kept his political promises from reforming Health Care to bringing our troops home from Iraq. He argues that the conservative just are not smart enough crowd refuses to think it through and argue the correct points of the President’s performance.

The risk is based on the early reactions the conservative political brain trust will fall for it.  But they should avoid the temptation to chase what turns out to be a pretty smart headline but misses the real target the economy. Because the article uses bait that voters won’t take until they get they get to keep their homes and get their jobs back.  But these non starters could be given new life by conservatives who will rush to defend their honor against the purpose of a here today and gone tomorrow headline.

Americans don’t often have time to think past the headlines.  But they will remember that our current president could not keep his economic promises to them. And they will remember the money got to the banks, just not to their street. And they will fear that if he gets to keep his job they will not get to keep their jobs.  But if the conservatives fall for it and track off message, they will wonder the same about their candidate.

Rich Carson:
I am an independent. Some of the Republican candidates, like Bachman, Caine and Perry, don’t come across in the electronic media as being the sharpest tools in the shed. However, calling Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, Paul or Huntsman dumb is dumb.
I am currently writing a doctorate paper about strategy and decided to use the book “Obama’s Wars” by Bob Woodward as my case study. Obama had no management experience in either the private or public sector. Certainly he was clueless about how to manage the military or anything else. So in terms of being dumb, he was really dumb. But he did some smart things in terms of strategy. He listened to experienced and smart people. Mainly he listened to Petraeus and Gates. My point is that inexperienced people can listen to experienced people.
Since World War II, the presidents of this nation have had little military experience. We basically had a couple of Chief Executive Officers (CEO) who were Commanders in Chief (CIC). Only Dwight Eisenhower and George Washington were actual military commanders who became President. Others had military experience, but at a much lower level.
As a manager, I have found that listening to smart people makes you smarter. I happen to agree with Ron Paul. It is time to bring all the troops home. There is no war worth fighting today. America should only fight when attacked. I count the Civil War, World War II and Korea in this category. I am a descendent of Kit Carson who was a general in the Civil War. My uncle died in Korea. My father was captured and escaped in World War II from the March to Bataan.
And I was a volunteer during the Vietnam War. I made a mistake that my ancestors did not. I fought in a stupid and pointless war. Vietnam in now a tourist destination. Afghanistan is a tribal country that the British and the Russians lost. And Iraq needs to evolve on its own. It is the birth place of civil governance. But when your country calls, the you go. Now matter how stupid the mission.
The Republican candidates left standing are – on balance – smarter than Obama was the day his took office. They will be just fine.
