Specter Versus Toomey

Toomey leads so far. Even Specter knew that. Give Toomey money. He’s going up against George Soros et al; he’ll need the cash.

  1. What the Republicans are saying:

“Still stunned by Arlen Specter’s party switch, Republican senators are pessimistic about the chances for conservative GOP hopeful Pat Toomey in the Pennsylvania Senate race.”

“I don’t think there is anybody in the world who believes he can get elected senator there,” said Sen. Orrin Hatch, the vice chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Asked if the NRSC would back Toomey, Hatch said, “I don’t think so” and that the party should look for “someone who can win there.”

Save your money, or send it to Norm Coleman and Jim Tedisco. They have some bills to pay.

  2. Specter is 21 points behind Toomey, mini.

Now that he went home to the liberal idiots, only a brain dead moron would think he moves into the lead.

Republicans, other than RINO’s say “good riddance.”

Take the rest of your moles back any time, son.

  3. The neocon Rethugs rolled the dice in PA and came up snake eyes. This has been happening a lot lately. Live with it.

  4. Get a grip Lew. Sen. Hatch has an American Conservative Union rating of 80 for 2008 and a lifetime rating of 89. He is not a RINO.

Repeat after me: Every Republican that disagrees with me is not a RINO. Say this several times and then get some air.

  5. WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement today:

“Some in the Republican Party are happy about this. I am not.

Let’s be honest-Senator Specter didn’t leave the GOP based on principles of any kind. He left to further his personal political interests because he knew that he was going to lose a Republican primary due to his left-wing voting record.

Republicans look forward to beating Sen. Specter in 2010, assuming the Democrats don’t do it first.”

  6. As for me and my house we will donate a couple hundred to Specter’s campaign. It will be fun having Senator Specter around just as a thumb in the eye of the obsolete Republican Party. I do find it curious that you are so riled by his leaving the party. What do you expect a guy to do who is on a sinking ship? Specter jumped. Give him credit at least. Now where is my check book…

  7. Wow Abel… you as a Oregon voter (if your old enough) would be willing to give to a PA senator?

you must be one of those rich democrats..

  8. kitanis, abel would give away his milk money. Specter would keep the 25 cents too, provided Democrats rally around him, which just may not happen.

  9. Seems I wasn’t too far from wrong,

“I won’t be happy if I don’t get to chair something because of Arlen Specter,” said Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.)

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and two other members of the Senate Republican leadership asked Specter to refund campaign donations.

One senior Democratic lawmaker told The Hill that the Democratic Conference will vote against giving the longtime Pennsylvania Republican seniority over lawmakers like Harkin, Mikulski and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)

    Top Dems rebel on Specter

  10. Specter has always been a Democrat at heart. Now, he just took the opportunity to made a grab for personal power and media love when it became too much trouble to maintain the illusion that he was a wise and courageous senator. I cannot recall an instance of the man EVER standing on principle against the wishes of the “progressive” media harpies. This is sort of like Jim Jeffords jumping parties… he was always against his own party but waited until he could grab some power before he had the honesty to formally switch. And what better way to grab glory than handing a fillibuster-proof Congress to the opposition?

  11. Arlen Specter, who when a registered Democrat and attorney, defended and had the bail reduced to a ridiculously low level for Earth Day founder and murderer, Ira Einhorn, allowing him to flee to Europe and avoid prosecution for the 1977 grizzly murder of Helen (Holly) Maddux, and keeping her corpse stuffed in a trunk and locked in his closet for a year and a half.

Specter is also credited with having “discovered” the ”magic bullet” thory for the Warren Commission investigation into the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

Specter even took credit in his book “Passion for Truth: From Finding JFK’s Single Bullet to Questioning Anita Hill to Impeaching Clinton.”

An obvious man of no integrity, he fits in perfectly with the new Socialist Demokratik Politburo.

  12. BTW, Ira Einhorn was finally returned to the U.S. in 2001 and prosecuted for the murder and sentenced to life in prison.

I was unable to find any statement on the sentence from comrad Specter.

  13. So what? While knowing all this, the Republicans were able to tolerate him in their party for quite a while. I believe the Democrats can do the same.

Wow! This story must be bigger than I thought. It is day three and Lew’s panties are still in a twist.

  14. Iago, if you can’t even figure out how to copy and paste, you’re pretty pitiful. You don’t even need to figure out how to spell my name yourself while staring at it on the screen.

Incidentally, what do any of those senators have to do with Arlen Specter?

  15. Well you see Kmoo, you were going off on Specter as to how awful he was for changing parties when the named senators did exactly the same thing, although from Democratic Party to Republican Party. This must be pretty awful in your book too.

  16. mini, it all just shows some of the reasons we in the GOP don’t miss Specter at all. He was a mole from the Democrats and a cowardly opportunist who rarely agreed with conservative philosophy.

Purging ourselves of these liberal moles just may stop the GOP from following the Democrats and becoming a communist front group.

You see mini, you can hate us, but we enjoy our freedom and liberty and are even trying to ensure you retain yours to be the biggest idiot you desire.

Call it foresight, something definitely lacking from the left.
