Rees Lloyd: Victory for Pat Healy of Portland’s Team Quest MMA

Pat (“Bam Bam”) Healy of  Portland’s Team Quest, scored his fourth consecutive victory in a “Strikeforce” MMA promotion which was broadcast nationwide on “Showtime” out of Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, March 3, 2014.
After two tough rounds, Healy forced rising star Carol Fodor, previously unbeaten in “Strikeforce” competition, to tap out due to a triangle chokehold by Healy at 3:35 of the third and final round.
Healy’s victory raised his professional MMA record to 29-15, including a 5-1 record in “Strikeforce” competition.
His victory also raised speculation by the broadcast commentators that Healy may now be in line for a shot at the “Strikeforce” 155-lb Light Weight title.
Healy has long trained at and been a fight team member of  the internationally renown Team Quest MMA in Portland (Gresham), which was founded by Matt Lindland, Oregon’s Olympic Silver Medalist (Greco-Roman wrestling) and MMA legend who leads Team Quest as competitor and coach.
Lindland was in Healy’s corner in the “Strikeforce” event in Ohio, where Healy prevailed with his usual combination of skill, toughness, and “Bam Bam” whatever-it-takes true grit.
Healy is also, like Lindland, and so many MMA competitors, a patriot who has strongly supported active duty troops and veterans.

Occupy Portland Exposes Private Info of Journalist to Intimidate and Shut Him Up

Why did Occupy Portland activists put out private information about Citizen Journalist Dan Sandini (aka Daylight Disinfectant) on their facebook page over the weekend? Because they wanted to intimidate him? Because they wanted to urge someone to hurt him?

Why? Because he’s effective at exposing their inanity.

An alert listener sent me this screen cap of three times on the Occupy Portland facebook page that members posted links to private information about Sandini. I’ve blotted out the links, but not the culprits.

The left’s stock in trade is trying to shut up the voices that don’t agree with them.

They do this by attempting to shame people for some imagined transgression, releasing personal information and completely and utterly adhering to Alinsky’s Rules numbers five, eight, nine and 13. To wit:

5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counteract ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.”
 8. “Keep the pressure on, with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.”
9. “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.”

13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

People sometimes relent under such withering pressure.

Now they’re trying it on Dan Sandini. I’m asking Portland Police today on the program if this intimidation is illegal.

Stay tuned.

Wood Stoves on Washington Legislature’s Hit List

“I’m sorry grandma but I’m going to have to confiscate and destroy your wood stove. Rules, you know.”

That conversation is a possibility in the future in Washington State.

House bill 2326 in Washington State proposes to outlaw wood stoves that officials think spew too much smoke. It’s not enough that we’re restricted in cutting the trees and energy prices are going through the roof, now the one mode of cheap heat left is being threatened by the EPA and state busy bodies.

The house has passed this bill and now it goes to the Senate. Good Lord. But wait! There’s more!

I got news of this when I talked to the Freedom Foundation’s Property Rights Director Glenn Morgan (interview here at about the 23:00 mark) on Friday during our regular weekly visit.

In fact state legislators are actually considering COMING AND GETTING WOOD STOVES AND DESTROYING THEM. This shocking revelation is found over at the Freedom Foundation’s blog:

In this bill, the legislature is expanding the definition of “prohibit the use of”. Most of us understand the definition of “prohibits the use of” and in the context of wood stoves, this means you cannot use it during burn-bans. The legislature, however, has greatly expanded the definition to include removing and destroying wood stoves—this clearly isn’t the common meaning of “prohibiting the use of”. Here is the exact definition from the bill:

“Prohibit the use” or “prohibition” may include requiring disclosure, removal, rendering inoperable, providing evidence of destruction, or other similar requirements as may be approved by rule by a local air pollution control authority or the department.”

Call your legislature, send Freedom Foundation some money DO SOMETHING to tell these people to keep their hands off your wood stove. If not then what or who is next?

Andrew Breitbart: Not Murdered

Andrew Breitbart died last Thursday and conservatives can thank him for empowering a new generation of activists and conservative media to question authority and expose the answers–if they weren’t already doing it. But his friends say there was no murder. No conspiracy theories. See below.

As many knew, Breitbart announced at the CPAC convention in February that President Obama would be getting the vetting he should have had the first time he ran for President. He claimed he had tapes of the President while a student at Harvard. See his CPAC speech below:

On the day he was to release the first part of his expose he died.
Many people thought the untimely death and the bizarre timing spelled a conspiracy. One wonders how many of the President’s own acolytes considered the possibility that one of their guy’s Chicago or union buddies had a hand in Breitbart’s death.

An autopsy will reveal what killed him but his friends say there’s no conspiracy theory. They say Breitbart was sick and they knew it.

Best selling author and Breitbart friend, Brad Thor, told me on the program here
that the conservative provocateur had been suffering from a serious ailment and had been getting back in shape to prolong his life. His own father in law, Orson Bean, says Breitbart had heart issues.

As Thor told me,

“I knew for quite some time that Andrew was sick and he asked me not to tell anybody. So I want to put the kibosh on any conspiracy theories that somehow somebody got to Andrew, blah, blah, blah. That didn’t happen. The people around him knew that Andrew had been wrestling with some health issues. He’d lost weight, he’d been getting into shape, uh, looked fantastic at CPAC, never lost an ounce of his energy or courage and it’s unfortunate that we’ve lost such a great voice, but aren’t we as lucky to have had him for as long as we did?”

I naturally asked Thor what Breitbart had been suffering from and he referred any comments on that to his family.

Let’s not get sidetracked on a conspiracy theory that may take us away from the real issues of the day. You should check out Breitbart.tv today. There’s a blockbuster story up there. I’ve linked to it in a nearby post.

And think about this: there’s not one story on his own websites about Breitbart being murdered. You’d think they’d have the exclusive on that one, wouldn’t you?  But let’s wait for the autopsy, raise a glass of scotch (Thor told me wine and scotch were Breitbart’s favorites) to his memory, wipe our mouths with the backs of our hands, sigh and carry on.

There’s much work to be done.
