In all I counted about 20 people there at today’s meeting.
Thanks for Standing Up for What’s Right!

Speech content below. Hear it for yourself here at KPAM.COM

My name is Victoria Taft I live and work and vote in Portland, Oregon.
I’m here to call on Mayor Sam Adams to resign but you knew that.

I come here on behalf of my KPAM listeners—among them hundreds who have sent me emails calling on you to resign, some of which I have here, all of which I have forwarded to you and the other commissioners.

I grew up here in Portland, went to school here.

I am a Native.

This is my city.

Keith and I are bringing up our girls here.

They’re part of the reason I’m here today.

They’ve heard me talk on the radio about you and have said to me, “Mom, why are you so tough on Sam?”

Because they’ve met you and heard me speak of you in nice terms.

We are politically poles apart but we have had a rapport and they know that.

And I tell them I’m not being tough on Sam…I’m holding a mirror up to him and saying look…you “the Mayor” have, through your actions, distorted the image of yourself, of Portland, of us…

—All with unethical, possibly illegal, certainly immoral actions.

My kids are nearly the same age as that kid you had sex with.

Those actions have reduced Portland to a punch line.

Late night TV comedians usually reserve their worst swipes for right leaning politicians…and you’re right there with them.

Where can an 18 year old have a Sam Adams…

Have you been looking for love in all the wrong places?

Try the City Hall bathroom.

You’re not just a punch line…

Now you’re beside the point…

…recusing yourself from your own education committee…

you’ve got US senators who won’t be seen in the same photo op with you.

Some of your staffers are leaving

You said you’d leave if it were in the best interests of the city.

Why aren’t you gone?

And you and your fellow commissioners are not listening..

Again.

Your confederates refuse to be good stewards of the truth…

…who know this is wrong but won’t call on you to right it.

You’re guilty Sam but they are more guilty today…

because they think so little of the voters that they won’t stand up for what’s right and call on you to resign.

It’s shameful…\

It is unethical

Immoral…

Disgraceful.

You don’t listen to us…

It’s been a long time since you commissioners have listened…

Remember that mirror I told my kids about?

See who’s standing behind the mayor?

…those are the commissioners.

They stand mute while you flout the law and pretend there’s nothing to see here

There may be one party rule around here…but no political party has a corner on the market on STANDING UP FOR WHAT’S RIGHT.

You and the commissioners should do that…

Resign Mayor Adams.

Tell ’em where you saw it. Http://www.victoriataft.com
