I couldn’t even muster excitement to blog this story in my weakened, delirious state last week. But even in that state I could tell that Occupiers are getting desperate.
Occupy Portland–eight of them–trudged downtown last week to flash the 99% all in a call for –wait for it– getting rid of nuclear power. Nevermind that hasn’t been an issue till now with the Occupiers; it is now and they’re going to take off their clothes to call attention to it, doggone it!

Apparently they took their cues from the Occupy WTO Anarchist Professional Protesters, but I repeat myself, who went to Davos to stick it to “The Man.”

How sad. Camping out didn’t work. Presiding over drug dens and smelly people in lean to’s in downtown “occupations” didn’t work. In fact people have now grown so weary of Occupy Portland that Occupiers have now taken to stripping to get noticed.
Still, I think we have a scar-to-star moment here.
Last Saturday night my daughter and her boyfriend went to a lovely concert downtown. After it let out they came upon some guys playing soccer in Pioneer Courthouse Square. They were having a jolly time. Until the Occupy Portland clowns, oh I’m sorry, did I say clowns? I meant clown. …took a bullhorn and started blathering on; soaking the atmosphere in the usual vapidity that emanates from the mouths of Occupiers. It ruined the moment.
If Occupy Portland is going to blast out your conversation with your boyfriend or drown out play calling in a pick up soccer game on the square, shouldn’t the people being put out get something for it?

I give you: New Orleans and Mardi Gras. At Mardi Gras women get beads (and I suppose vice versa) for every time they flash their breasts.
Occupy Portland should really think about giving folks a flash for every one minute speech they want to give to folks downtown.
You couldn’t be more ethically and morally bankrupt than you are now. And, as an added bonus, since some of you want to start a new system of trading and bartering with a new currency you could try beads.
Think about it. This could be the start of something big.
Occupy Portland’s Jeremy says they’re upset about possible leaking of nuclear material, not nuclear power.
“Victoria, your article is incorrect. The people down there were not protesting against nuclear power. They were protesting the nuclear waste dump at Hanford that has been leaking into the river.”
