Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and the anti gun group Washington Ceasefire are holding a presser today to announce a new gun-free business program. Mc Ginn and Ceasefire are asking Seattle businesses to put up signs declaring they’re gun free to, “…[S]upport businesses that do not wish to have guns on their premises.”

Put another way, Mc Ginn has begun a program to help the Pacific Northwest’s robbers better choose their targets by putting up a ‘rob me’ sign that looks like the ones close by.

I’m sure robbers will comply.

The approach is laughable, of course. It’s right out of a James O’Keefe video expose in which newspaper reporters, publishers and editors of a New York area newspaper were asked to put gun free signs in their own front yards and they refused. This, after they published an interactive map displaying the names and addresses of all legal gun owners in a two county area, including law enforcement, prosecutors, prison guards and single women following the Sandy Hook school shooting. Gun Free Zone 4 biz

Some businesses have already signed on (see list nearby).

Here’s what Washington Ceasefire’s Board President Ralph Fascitelli said in their press release which reveals what the real end game is here,

“We’re making a statement as a community. We know this won’t stop someone determined to cause violence, but we hope that standing together and giving businesses a tool to say no to guns will change the conversation around gun violence. Maybe our message will even make it to Olympia – we need better tools now to stop gun violence in our community.” [emph mine]

Translation: all guns are dangerous–even ones owned by law abiding citizens. We must demonize guns. Rinse. Repeat.

Fascitelli and Mc Ginn may think they’re on the side of angels, but, if so, why are they intentionally misleading business owners? I’ll tell you about that in the next post.
