Adams said Sunday evening, “Tomorrow I go back to work as your Mayor. I know I have let you down and made mistakes. I ask your forgiveness. I believe I have a lot to offer the city I love during this time of important challenges.”

Does it escape Sam that one major challenge is his lack of credibility?

One omen for Sam might be that he had trouble opening the locked door at City Hall with his card key.

  1. I’m pleased to say that Sam Adams isn’t my mayor (quite literally, since I don’t like in Portland). Moreover, I’d be ashamed to have him. He has not bothered to deny that he committed several serious ethical breaches yet he feels like he should remain mayor. Why don’t people get that?

  2. By the by… since you compiled the numbers, Lew, 44 more votes have come in… 7 for investigation, 12 for staying, and 25 for resigning. So far, not only does a significant majority want him gone, that majority is expanding faster than the other side. Yet he’s going to stay and “fight the allegations” even though he admitted in news conferences that they were true.

  3. The Democrat play book reads. . .

    Get caught: Deny

Presented with the Truth: apologize and continue in job or position of power.

Gov. Blagojevich is the “Wacko exception” to this rule and is known as a Rogue Democrat.

Sam used our money or Campaign money to coach Breedlove in the best way to Lie to us. The Lie was used to influence the election. That is two crimes right there.

    Exit stage Left. . .

  4. I still applaud those Democrats and other liberals who have opened their eyes and refuse to circle the wagons around Sammy.

Sam, it isn’t about you. It’s about Portland, the city you say you love?

    Resign!

  5. It sounds as if Ol’ Sammy is using the Blogovich playbook here. (Except Blogo has yet to offer up an empty apology to the people of Illinois as Tram Scam Sam did to Portland). Next thing you know, he will be declaring, as Blogo was yesterday, that he is like Gandhi, in that his presence is vital for the community health of Portland, or some such nonsense.

The investigations need to keep going on and, if this lasts until July, a recall effort started.

  6. Comrade Obama is too busy establishing his would-be God-like reign over the Country and releasing terrorists from Gitmo to be bothered with such mundane things as prison riots.

  7. Aside from law enforcement.. I can no longer take Portland government seriously.

This is starting to be beyond a joke. I also consider this a example of Democratic arrogance to morality.

He should resign and quit streatching this this drama out

  8. Starting with that idiot, Nurse Ratched, the council should demand that Adams resign. Their failure to do so only demonstrates their disregard for the welfare of this city. This mess is wholly Adams’ fault, but it drags us all down with him. To refuse to acknowledge that this issue will cost far too much in time, money and continued erosion of public trust, simply to indulge one man’s hubris, is both selfish and cowardly.

Too bad there isn’t a real leader on the council.

  9. Reading Pedophile Sam Adams D-Portland Oregon’s open letter
It sounds abit like it was written
By the same defense team of
    Gov. Rod Blago D-Chicago Illinois.
To use the Term Political Opponent, “WILLAMETTE WEAK” is hardly a political Opponent Sam. Willamette Weak is always a Defender of the Socialist Democrat Party Way. Your Opponent Sam is starring at you in the mirror.

    Time to resign Sam

  11. So a question for all of you,

Remember, the following challenge from the Adams campaign,

“I believe that Sho Dozono violated public financing laws by not claiming his poll that was dated December 21, 2007. The poll which cost $27,295 violates in kind contribution limits.”

Was the Breedlove denial process and cover up also an “in kind” contribution? Do you suppose that mayoral candidate Adams properly declared all Breedlove cover up expenses to the State of Oregon Elections Division? Just another potential violation that needs to be explored by the Attorney General.

But I am sure that Sam is smart enough that he declared not only the value of the cover up itself (priceless), but additionally all the costs of the media relations consultant (whether or not public funds), the cost of all those dinners, transportation costs, letters of denial, and all other incidentals associated with his lie.

  12. Hi Keith,

“He has not bothered to deny that he committed several serious ethical breaches yet he feels like he should remain mayor. Why don’t people get that?”

Not only that but the deceptions/lies seem to almost expand “exponentially” with every additional press conference or news article.

By the way, it’s been a while. How have you been?

  13. Keith

Glad to hear you are doing well.

Time will tell I suppose whether Adams will ultimately be held accountable.

He really hasn’t been yet. Ultimately, perhaps. But you are certainly right, Portland doesn’t seem to display any real leadership!

I almost never agree with Randy Leonard, but I have always thought that he was at least ethical, just misguided. Obviously, I must have misjudged him.

I have to suggest at this point that the only City Council member, who has any hope of salvaging his credibility is Nick Fish. However, we will have to wait and see.

  14. Out of curiousity, how do you figure? His comments made him sound like one of the spineless synchopants who want to ignore Adam’s misbehavior and just “move on” and concentrate on doing the business of the city. Such idiocy ignores the fact that purging dishonest and unethical officials is a vital part of the city’s business. In fact, my impression was that Randy Leonard was the only one who had an independent thought out of the entire bunch which puts him miles above the rest of the dullards that pretend to have leadership ability while fleeing from their responsibility to deal with Sam.
