DeFazio Closes Eyes and Lies

Oregon Congressman, Pete DeFazio, dusts off pictures of old interstates to use as props as he inveighs against transportation cuts proposed by Paul Ryan and the Republicans on the floor of the House. 

DeFazio would like you to believe that he proposes money for interstates when instead, as a subcommittee chair, he lavished communities with money for expensive and inflexible light rail, street cars and, of course, elevated bicycles to the level of cars in transportation schemes–not interstates. The better to create his beloved Portopias everywhere.

The Congressmen calls “Bozos” and “Flat Earthers” those who do not agree with him. He denigrates the people who now have to figure out how to pay the bills for the Democrats’ spending spree.

Please remember this when you accuse Republicans of being uncivil. And this is on the floor of the House of Representatives, no less.
