Forget the blah blah from Democrats about conservatives/republicans being unwilling to reach across the aisle, how noble it is and how all would be well if they would just extend their fingers a bit. The far left’s moves in this Oregon State house race show it to be the campaign throw away line that it is. When one of the Democrats’ own does it–even as little as he does it–they go after him. Big time.
Such is the case with Happy Valley Democrat, Mike Schaufler. The
MoveOn.Commies have gone after the less partisan Democrat hammer and tong sickle.
You can’t go on any political website without seeing this expensive ad (see above and nearby) with Shaufler dressed up in a GOP elephant get up.
Along with the pictures and bloated claims, the MoveOn.Commies are sending out this email asking for more money to trash Schaufler even more:
Dear Oregon MoveOn member,Conservative Democrat Mike Schaufler is running scared. In the final days of his state House primary against progressive challenger Jeff Reardon, Schaufler is scooping up money from big corporations and hiring a Republican consulting firm to get out the vote.1The company Schaufler hired is owned by a Republican operator, who among other things is the lobbyist for Koch, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, and a long list of other companies in Salem.2 These are the bad guys who make it difficult to get anything progressive passed into law in Oregon. No wonder they are so intent on protecting big business’s favorite Democrat, Mike Schaufler.
Wow, the Oregon Working Families Party.
How far left is that political organization? It’s the party of the perennial voter rip offs: ACORN.
The far left’s outside money has been brought in to influence the Oregon election and to elect a guy who, by definition, must be very far left. (I’m in favor of allowing funding from legal sources, I just like to zing the left with their own criticism because they always bring it up in the case of a republican) That should tell you there that their touted candidate, Jeff Reardon is not a match for the Clackamas area district. He sounds moderate on paper but ACORN and far left environmentalists back him? Draw your own conclusions.
Here are the votes the MoveOn.Commies target Schaufler on:
He voted against Governor Kitzhaber’s reorganization and increased government involvement of health care to make it ObamaCare ready.
He didn’t vote in favor to increase Oregon’s already onerous environmental laws.
He didn’t vote for tax increase contained in Measures 66 & 67 (which have been an abject failure, btw)
I’m not an apologist for Schaufler, I’m just pointing out that, even with all his faults, he’s still the better of the two choices for Democrats. And Democrats have a decision to make. Go with the normal guy –as much as I can disagree with him–or with the socialist. Please make a note of it. Then vote for the Republican in the general election.
