As Victoria recently covered on her program, Medford Police rousted an innocent citizen from bed at 3 AM and taken into “protective custody” to be taken in for “mental evaluation” due to his having a dispute in his job with ODOT and being on administrative leave.

He also had legally purchases some guns, giving Police “cause” to think he might have planned something with them.

Police act swiftly after gun purchases

They confiscated the guns for “safe keeping” and took him for “several hours of evaluation” before being released as not being a threat. Police held on to his legal guns.

Recalling the gun grab in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, the case drew national attention stirring up controversy.

David J. Pyles, the ODOT worker denied all of his rights in this case, requested return of his legally purchased guns Thursday. Police said they would comply.

Friday morning, they were finally returned in a “professional manner” according to Pyles.

I now wonder if Medford Police will sit outside of Bars and Lounges and stop people as they enter, confiscating their cars for “safe keeping” out of concern they might drink too much and drive drunk?
