More later on the blog and the program but as of midnight here are some of the highlights for me.
Eileen Brady: She wanted to be Portland’s “Cool Mom.” She lost because she thought the kids would leave the vegan keggar if she got out her “I Mean Business” voice and acted like an adult.
Perhaps some Portlanders were impressed with her decades old arrest for civil disobedience, but unfortunately for Brady, she was up was up against real time jail birds. Cameron Whitten, used his Occupy Portland police mug shot for his Mayoral 8 x 10 glossy, and Eco-Terrorist-truck-bomber-tree-climbing-girl-friend-batterer, Tre Arrow barely got out of jail in time for election day. What Eileen Brady unwittingly conveyed to Portlanders when she gleefully spoke of her arrest was, ‘I was as vapid and devoid of understanding as these dumb cop baiting-vanity protesters of Occupy.’ Until Eileen could produce a Letter From the Birmingham Jail, she needed to stop pretending she’d done something noble, show a little shame and tell the adults why they should vote for her NOW.
Brady also overplayed her, “I created jobs” card and, while she was repairing the damage by the Willamette Week stories on her veracity, allowed Jefferson Smith’s bus to flank her left.
Jefferson Smith: What do they say about the bear chasing three people? You only have to beat one? Eileen Brady flamed out and Jefferson Smith fooled enough people to beat her. The Community Organizer couldn’t run as his authentic self because he’d reveal himself as even more left than David Plouffe, so Smith tried to reenact a Barack Obama like campaign; speaking in generalities and platitudes but giving the fluff a passionate delivery. In short: the legend in his own mind thinks he can deliver a great stem winder, but can’t actually do a job. We’ve seen this act before. Next.
John Ludlow: He spoke like a political pugilist who was willing to do battle on behalf of Clackamas County conservatives. He had money behind him and will vie for Clackamas County Commission Chair in November. John Ludlow in the Clack Co Chair could be the biggest game changer in Oregon politics in decades. He could be the conservative Paul Revere. Imagine if Tootie Smith and Ludlow win the general in November. Get out your checkbooks, folks. These races are important.
Oregon Republican Party: Needs to find talented people to run for office. Every office. Every seat should have a GOP candidate. Doing hail Mary write ins at the last minute is weak tea. Get in front of it and get it done.
Oregon /Democrat Party: Check over your shoulder. Is that a friendly camera? #War.
