Perhaps this is just the time to make a difference—when a group has declared the current working plan unworkable. Let’s get a cheaper bridge without forcing light rail on the ‘Couv. Here.and Here
…on Thursday, a panel of national and international bridge experts called on the governors of Oregon and Washington to scrap that design, saying technical and engineering complexities could doom the largest transportation project in the region’s history.
The report said the deck truss bridge, similar to the Interstate 205 Glenn Jackson Bridge, would be the cheapest at $340 million. However, for $60 million more, the cable-stayed bridge with its bold columns and sharp edges would “provide a more meaningful aesthetic statement.”
You know, if we can take light rail off the bridge we can whittle down the cost even more from that $4 bil boondoggle.
