That’s what Minority Whip Eric Cantor is saying in his assessment (here) on the health care bill nose count. He’s identified 37 Democrats who, Cantor believes, would be making a huge political miscalculation if they vote for the bill, which (we think*) contains cuts in Medicare and obliterating Medicare Advantage. Cantor says 49% of the people on Medicare in his district buy Medicare Advantage. And, Cantor observes, because of the cram down of the bill happening at such a rapid pace–and in the dark—Congressional reps won’t take Pelosi’s word for it when she promises they’ll fix the flaws later. There IS no later.
The Democrats need 218 to pass this monstrosity. Do your part to make sure you touch Schrader’s offices, phone lines, emails to tell him he shouldn’t be one of them (Contacts below). He’ll be in Oregon City at a town hall tonight:

You Medicare Advantage folks might want to be there to ask him why he said this after he voted yes for the last house health care bill:

I am proud to have cast a historic vote to overhaul America’s failing healthcare system to improve the healthcare of all Americans.

I have received assurance from House leadership and the Administration that additional cost containment measures will occur in the final conference agreement. 

*It has been in previous bills, but we don’t know because Democrats are conducting negotiations in secret, without cameras, reporters, the American people, or, for that matter, Republicans.
