Occupy Portland has held Lownsdale and Chapman Squares hostage for 120 days and continue to do today. This is even though the City of Portland has just made a move to at least open the pathways through them.

The Parks and Rec Bureau has replaced the chain link fencing enclosing the entire with this fabric mesh stuff (“sustainable” I’m sure) which is being draped around the trees and grass that Occupy Portland destroyed.

While it’ll be characterized as a huge step forward, it’s not really.

The Occupy Portland crowd has made these parks in heart of downtown unusable. October 6, 2011 marked the beginning of the hostage taking. Because of the ham handed way in which Mayor Adams and the Rainbow City Council played this idiocy you can now accurately say that the taxpayers and the parks are both being held hostage.
