
Posey, a graduate of Wichita State University, later expanded into the paving business, which has brought him a bit more success but continued frustration. “There’ll never be a minority-owned firm the size of Walsh Construction in this town until the opportunities are equal,” says the 58-year-old candidate, who runs a deli on the corner of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Stanton Street, in addition to owning a small construction firm. (Posey also has been on the other side of the law. He says that about 10 years ago he was convicted of menacing an ex-employee whom he caught trying to break into his house.)
