Your Tax $$ for "The Children" at Work: More New Teachers in Oregon Universities

Although I’ve advocated for NO VOTES on both Measures 66 and 67 and now Measures 68 and 69, the latter stand a good chance of passing. It’s interesting to note, however, that Oregon State University plans to staff up, initially telling employees they planned to hire more than 60 new professors to extend the school’s mission in the following areas:

Advancing the Science of Sustainable Earth Ecosystems, Improving Human Health and Wellness, and Promoting Economic Growth and Social Progress.  These are areas where the challenges are pressing, complex, and immediate. These signature areas of excellence accord with existing strengths within OSU’s faculty.

As my alert 5th Listener points out, it appears all this money we’ve already passed for “the children” and could pass in today’s election for “the children” will free up money for the university to spend it on President Obama’s agenda:

1. Advancing the Science of Sustainable Earth Ecosystems (global warming, carbon footprint, incandescent light bulbs, cap and trade etc.)
2. Improving Human Health and Wellness (ObamaCare, mandated reduction in sugar, salt, fat etc.)
3. Promoting Economic Growth and Social Progress (wealth redistribution, social justice, reparations, amnesty for illegals)

The lesson to take away here is this: If you want to get in the “free” money game, you use taxpayer dollars to hire more oppressives. This frees up the university to troll for government grants. This explains the man-made-global-warming-theory fad at the university level.

Criteria
Decisions regarding new faculty positions will be based on the degree to which the proposed position meets the following criteria:
§  Advances one or more of the three signature areas of excellence: Advancing the Science of Sustainable Earth Ecosystems, Improving Human Health and Wellness, and Promoting Economic growth and Social Progress

In today’s election M 69 allows the universities to use bond money to buy existing buildings and go more into debt. Sounds like bad deal now, doesn’t it?
NO on M 68 and 69.
