Why did…

People who signed the petitions calling for the repeal of Erik Sten’s and Gary Blackmer’s so called “Clean Campaigns Initiative” sign the petitions 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 times? Were they, uh, encouraged, to spoil the petitions knowing if they did that HUNDREDS of signatures would be thrown out of the tally to get this on the ballot? In fact it’s because of the multiple signers that the repeal initiative failed to make the ballot. Coincidence?

See, this clean campaigns initiative was an attempt to circumvent the will of the voters by using the force of their Portland City Council offices to vote themselves payment for theirs and others’ campaigns and throwing the voters a bone to vote on it later–you know, after a couple of election cycles.

The multiple signers’ names have been turned over to Secretary of State Bill Bradbury’s office where, I’m sure, he’ll give it his undivided attention. See photo above.

  1. In the “fair elections” department, Bradbury is in the same class as Mogabe and Castro. He’s clearly headed for the Political Hack Hall of Fame. When the electoral process has no integrity, democracy fails.

  2. Victoria _ I’m sure SecState Guillermo Bradbury will give your letters his full and undivided attention all the time he needs to put them through the shredder. Because of the sheer numbers of these letters he may have to enlist the help of Teddy the K.

By the way Bear, Guillermo Bradbury will be joined in the Political Hack Hall of Fame by Teddy the K, Eric Sten, Randy Leonard, Vera, and the Girls of Hawthorne on the County Council.

  3. We all must remember that those in the Political Hack of Famers know more than we do and can more effectively spend our money than we can.

So lets do as Victoria says cut the check and go lay down by our bowl.

  4. Actually i Agree, however bite the hands that don’t feed us my not be enough. Es-specially with those who stay up nights thinking of creative ways of spending others money.
