The ‘New Civility?’

Within minutes of the tragic shootings in Tucson, Arizona, Saturday January 8, 2011, an unprecedented assault was launched verbally, in print and in the media, directed against conservatives and Republicans. An assault unlike any I have seen in all my years, placing blame where no evidence even suggested it laid.

A Memorial/Campaign Kick-Off Pep Rally was held Wednesday evening, January 12 at the University of Arizona, complete with souvenirs and a personal message from Barack Obama to the nation, supposedly to “bring us together.”

Did anyone on the left listen as he stated, “At a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized – at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who think differently than we do – it’s important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we are talking with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds?”

Obviously, the publishers of the New Republic failed to get the message with the cover of their next edition of their magazine, due out February 3, 2011.

Add to this cover the emails sent out by supporters of left-wing politicians lambasting the right still, seeking donations by standing on the graves of the dead and it is apparent that like much else said by Democrats, a lot of feel good hot air was expressed Wednesday evening.

Where is this “new civility” you all are whining about, Democrats? Does “Civility” only mean everyone agree with Democrats? And if not, destroy them?
