The man who went to a SE Portland bar a week ago Friday and was beaten by Portland Professional Protesters™ while wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat went to another bar before the beating and got into a shouting match with patrons there.
Now Antifa and “The Oregonian” newspaper think they’ve unearthed a “gotcha!” moment.
KPTV and Gateway Pundit report that Luke Lenzner was on a date night with his wife and walked into Growler’s Taproom on SE Hawthorne in inner SE Portland in the early hours of August 17th. The bartender told him they weren’t serving anymore so Lezner left. As he did so, surveillance tape shows he pointed to his hat.
Apparently, that red hat was just too much for Portland Professional Protesters™ who met Lezner out on the side walk, “circled him,” attacked him and then cold cocked him. Lezner told KPTV: “I got mobbed by everybody that was in that bar outside. People came from the inside out – just circled me and my wife.”
After the beating and the understandable outrage over the beat-down, including a hate-rain on Antifa, “The Oregonian” ‘found’ a video that the reporter obviously believed provided more context to the story about the tap room beating.
It seems Lenzner and his wife went to another bar before going to the tap room. At “The Vern,” Lenzner was seen yelling at customers:
The video shows an outburst by Lenzner – and a boorish one at that. He yells at patrons who lustily yell back at him. But notice where the 1:18 video starts. It starts after Lenzner starts his braying.
“The Oregonian” reported that the man who took the video, Michael Radosevich, “locked eyes” with Lezner [sic] and believed he was “looking for a fight”:
“The second I locked eyes with him there was no doubt in my mind he was looking for a fight,” Michael Radosevich told The Oregonian/OregonLive on Tuesday. Footage captured by Radosevich shows the man hurling expletives and pointing at people inside The Vern on Friday night while claiming he served in the military and had been disrespected.
Maybe he was looking for a fight and didn’t get one. Doesn’t it make you want to know what happened before his outburst?
The Oregonian doesn’t, else that line of questioning would have been pursued and included in its post.
Antifa surely does not care what happened before.
After all … the hat…
Portland Antifa members and allies (forget deleting them, boys, I have them screen capped) reacted to the video by saying Lenzner deserved the beat down:
“Guy goes to a bar to troll people and gets beat up [sic] Well [sic] maybe he should have went [sic] to a bar to troll people [sic] Can’t really have sympathy for people looking for fights that get them [sic] That’s like having Sympathy [sic] for the school bully when he gets checked [sic]”
Antifa allies (or members) waxed psychological about the possible underpinnings of Lenzner’s actions which resulted in his beat down at the hands of Portland Professional Protesters™:
They believe Lenzner went on a date night with his wife to pick a fight. Let’s assume they’re right for a second. No fight occurred at “The Vern.” Lenzner was boisterous and called out the customers, at one point actually lying about his ‘military service (he’s not a veteran),’ for which he apologized later.
I’d love to know what happened before his outburst.
Then, Lenzner went to the tap house with his hat on and was beaten by Portland Professional Protesters™ who have been arrested at protests before.
Over the years, I’ve interviewed some pretty spectacular guests. Vincent Bugliosi, who prosecuted Charles Manson, and Andy McCarthy, who successfully prosecuted the terrorists who tried to blow up the World Trade Center in 1993, have both presented me with strains of the same question, which I think is pertinent now:
What would it take to get you to [murder/commit and act of terrorism/beat up a guy in a MAGA hat]?
And that’s the question left unanswered by this video, the patrons and even Mr. Lenzner.
The answer should be that it would take nothing to get you to beat up a guy with a MAGA hat.
If Lenzner went to troll people at a bar on Friday night, that’s uncivil and not nice. It’s boorish, inadvisable and the height of douchebaggery.
Things have deteriorated to such an extent in Portland these days that people don’t even stop to ask the question. And that didn’t start with Lenzner.
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler should condemn what happened to a man in a Portland bar a week ago Friday. However, the ‘leader’ who has given Antifa a pass while condemning ‘right wing’ protesters with a full blown civic gaslighting, is unlikely to do so.
KPTV and Gateway Pundit report that Luke Lenzner was on a date night with his wife and walked into Growler’s Taproom on SE Hawthorne inner SE Portland in the early hours of August 17th.
Lezner told KPTV:
“I got mobbed by everybody that was in that bar outside. People came from the inside out – just circled me and my wife.”
They surrounded him like jackals:
“Surrounding me, like literally surrounding me, pushing me. I’m just trying to get through, trying to stop the person from hitting me, from taking my hat, and then I get sucker punched,” Lenzner told FOX 12.
The two arrested are no strangers to Portland police, either.
The two perps, 22-year-old Leopold A. Hauser and 23-year-old Adebisi A. Okuneye, were hunted by police after Lezner gave him their license plate number.
The cops know Hauser from a 2018 scrape with the law involving an Antifa riot and Okuneye was last arrested in another Portland protest in 2017 involving Black Lives Matter and Antifa.
It makes you wonder a few things.
Is Portland safe for Republicans or Trump supporters anymore? Portland’s
Can a guy with a Trump hat even get a beer in this town anymore without getting beaten up by Antifa?
As he told the gathering before the planned Proud Boy, Patriot Prayer march August 17th, “violence is not a civil right.”
Wheeler would do well to remember that his demonized ‘right wingers,’ once again, had nothing to do with this act of violence and the violence that occurred had to do with a man wearing a hat – an act protected by the First Amendment.
Leftist leadership allowed this bigoted institutionalized balkanization. This is what you call institutionalized bigotry.
Now, what are you going to do about it, Mr. Mayor? If past is prologue, the answer to that question is … nothing.
Portland Police rolled up 13 Leftist Antifarioters who came to clash with ‘Patriot Prayer’ and ‘Proud Boys’ demonstrators at a planned demonstration by the right-wing groups on August 17th.
Before the August 17th event, which saw plenty of illegal and disgusting behavior by the Antifa protesters, Mayor Ted Wheeler condemned the right-wing groups, dismissing them as hateful outsiders who didn’t ‘belong here.’
He said nothing about the far Left Antifa, whose antics have cost Portlanders their safety as well as millions of dollars to clean up after them.
So feeble has been Wheeler’s response that he couldn’t even bring himself to ban Antifa’s masks, something that Police Chief Danielle Outlaw asked him to do.
Now what are Portland Police are reduced to? Asking for help to identify people with masks over their faces.
Sure, guys, we’ll get right on it.
Portland police also asked for help in identifying this person next to the guy in a mask:
This regular Antifa member was last seen spitting on Patriot Prayer founder Joey Gibson at the Cider Riot! clash. As I reported, Gibson was the one charged with riot for his behavior. Her assaultive behavior was never charged.
Nice ‘burqa,’ ‘lady.’
You may remember that in Michael Strickland’s case, eight of his ten “victims” who attacked him couldn’t be identified because they were masked. Nevertheless, the Multnomah County District Attorney counted them as victims anyway and issued two felonies each on behalf of each of Strickland’s victims. Charges that could have put the man in prison for 50 years. His conviction for drawing his legally concealed pistol at his attackers (no shots were fired) is on appeal. See a variety of the stories about him here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here … there are lots more. Just do a search on this site.
Now the police need help identifying these people … because Ted Wheeler won’t order them unmasked.
An Oregon man has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Portland and Multnomah County after he was the one arrested when his vehicle was attacked by Antifa and Black Lives Matter protesters on Halloween 2018. None of the protesters was arrested.
Mark Dickerson was trying to find a parking spot in downtown Portland. As he drove slowly along 4th Avenue, Dickerson was blocked by Black Lives Matter and Antifa members. As they parted to finally let him through, a man, who couldn’t be seen behind the group, intentionally backed into his vehicle.
Watch the video, which was posted on Dickerson’s GoFundMe page and depicted as an “insurance scam,” which it most certainly could be.
Protesters attacked his car with fists, sticks and protest signs. And, as I noted in my previous post about this case yelled hateful epithets at Dickerson:
“Yah, you little white little fucker! You’re a little whitey aren’t cha? … Just please turn right … You are a little whitey supremacist! … we don’t need your KKK … you fucking hit me right now, I’ll beat the shit out of you.
When he slowly moved forward as the protesters parted, Dickerson was obviously concerned about the protesters to his right and claims not have seen this man intentionally back into his car until he did it.
Dickerson got clear of the protesters and then stopped when he saw police coming to his aid. Or so he thought. In fact, Dickerson was the one arrested for the incident.
Earlier in October of 2018, another man was chased and his car pummeled by Antifa and Black Lives Matter protesters. Portland police stood by and did nothing. It’s entirely possible Dickerson was in fear for his life when he found himself in the same predicament.
As I reported at the time, a Multnomah County judge – shockingly – tossed out the case against Dickerson when the man who intentionally walked into his truck failed to show up to court to testify against him.
It’s entirely possible that Arthuray Dudley, reportedly the brother of a man killed by Portland police who was the subject of the protest, didn’t want to set foot in a Multnomah County courtroom because he’d seen enough of them:
Arthuray, it turns out, far from being a ‘victim’ as he told KATU in his attempt to sell a ‘hands up, don’t shoot’ narrative –
– is a longtime Portland cocaine runner. Arthuray was arrested multiple times in 2010, again in 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2018.
Dickerson, whose wife claims has never had a scrape with the law, wants his life and reputation back.
Dickerson had to sell his beloved horse to help get the $10,000 to hire a defense attorney for his criminal trial.
Not being a wealthy man, he’s mounting his own legal case against both the City of Portland and Multnomah County for false arrest, civil rights violations and malicious prosecution. He’s asking for a minimum of $500,000 in damages.
It’s going to be an uphill battle. This guy needs an attorney.
Updated with more video from Stumptown Matters and photos.
The Multnomah County DA’s office has charged the leader of the Patriot Prayer group, Joey Gibson, with “riot” for initiating a riot with riotous behavior, which resulted in no riot on May 1, 2019. Got that?
The charge issued against Gibson on Thursday appears to be a shot-across-the-bow timed to do somethingeven if it’s wrong before the planned march by conservative groups in Portland on Saturday. Either that or someone’s sniffing glue at the DA’s office again.
Gibson’s attorney, James Buchal, issued a statement about the charge, accusing the DA of rushing to get Gibson without evidence and without going to a Grand Jury:
The District Attorney claims that Mr. Gibson committed the crime of “riot” (ORS 166.015), which requires proof of “tumultuous and violent conduct” by Mr. Gibson.
Buchal implied that the hasty way in which the District Attorney’s office went after Gibson again demonstrated Portland’s two tiered system of justice: One for Antifa and one for everybody else:
[B]y arresting only one side of the alleged “riot,” the District Attorney of Multnomah County is by all appearances acting as a special prosecutor for Antifa.
Buchal chided the DA’s office saying that this charge must be the result of a “website malfunction:”
Today an alleged website malfunction at the office of the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office has revealed that the District Attorney (without waiting for his grand jury to indict), has rushed to file criminal charges against Mr. Joseph Gibson. The District Attorney claims that Mr. Gibson committed the crime of “riot” (ORS 166.015), which requires proof of “tumultuous and violent conduct” by Mr. Gibson. There are multiple videos of the events at Cider Riot, and not one of them shows Mr. Gibson engaging in violent conduct.
Well, I spent way too many hours on Thursday going through and transcribing Gibson’s own livestream video from May 1, 2019 and Buchal’s right. The only ‘riot’ that occurred that day was in the name of the Antifa bar at 8th and NE Couch called “Cider Riot!
The only thing that could be remotely described as ‘provocative’ was Gibson showing up to the Antifa’s hangout.
You may think that’s the dumbest idea in the world, and I get it, but there’s actually no law against walking over and talking to people hanging outside a bar. No, really. Buchal said as much in his statement when he said that the DA’s office is having a very difficult time separating what’s free speech from riot:
These charges represent a total failure of the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office to distinguish between violent conduct and the exercise of First Amendment rights.
Gibson was pepper sprayed repeatedly and spat on several times by masked Antifa thugs who did so on the Cider Riot! premises and onto the public sidewalk.
Buchal noted as much in his statement:
Mr. Gibson was repeatedly pepper-sprayed and spat upon by violent members of Antifa, none of whom have been arrested or charged for their conduct on May 1st. It is not as though the government is ignorant of the identity of the Antifa combatants; even now, the Oregon Liquor Control Commission refuses to release an investigative report about Cider Riot that Mr. Gibson requested long ago, which should identify other combatants.
And after she was de-masked.
I know it must be surprising to hear that Antifa layabouts and their confused part-time anarchist alter-egos patronize a place started by capitalists when so many of these lawless thugs do no more labor than lifting other peoples’ facile slogans while pretending to slay Nazis.
As Gibson walked up to the establishment he was met with a hail of pepper spray, spit and “get the fuck outta heres” by the, ahem, the self-described heroic ‘anti‘ Nazis.
He told them:
You guys are Nazis. You won’t even let a brown man [Gibson] exist on a public sidewalk? You guys are Nazis! You guys are the fascists. You can fucking walk anywhere you want and I will never stop you. I believe in the First Amendment, the Second Amendment.
Do something! More, more, [sound of spraying from Antifa inside the property line of Cider Riot onto the public sidewalk] more pepper spray.
Gibson walks away flashing the peace sign, demonstrating that he’s leaving. Then looks at the camera and predicts, “Shit’s about to go down.” It almost did until Gibson got Antifa to go along with his plan to stop it.
Here are my notes and some of the transcribed comments from what transpired next:
Walking away from Cider Riot he sees Antifa members or allies (same thing) threatening one of his guys and Gibson says, “Hey, do you want us to leave or not?! We will go! We will go! Do you want us to leave or not? “
As they’re leaving, Antifa apparently takes a swing at one of his guys and Antifa allies start to pounce on the pair. Gibson implores Antifa to stay away and “Let ’em fight! Let ’em fight! Let ’em fight! No! Hey walk over here and fight it’s mutual combat. That’s their right! Hey, no hey put your weapon away! Put your weapon away! Hey, hey! It’s mutual. If they want to fight let ’em fight.
The friend of Antifa says, “That’s not a law in Portland. I’m just telling you man, that’s not a law in Portland.”
Some Antifa guy who’s been watching looks at Gibson with his hands out saying something indistinguishable and Gibson responds, “Well, we’re not going to get involved!” He yells to the Anifa guy who had been involved in jumping one of his guys, “Hey!
Tells Antifa to stop.
Gibson implores his guys, “No one jump in! No one jump in! Let the men handle it! It’s mutual. It’s mutual. It’s better that two guys go down than all of us. This is the way it’s supposed to be. You don’t cheap shot people. This is the way it’s supposed to be. This is the way it’s supposed to be. Just two men fightin’!”
Then within a couple minutes the Antifa guy gives up.
Gibson declares “ok he’s out, he’s out. You quitting’ or are you in?”
The masked Antifa guy reengages.
“This is two fucking men fightin'” says Gibson says. Gibson declares during the shadow boxing and the Antifa guy kicking the patriot prayer guy, “My face is burning right now [from pepper spray], just so everybody knows.”
Says off the side to someone, “Hey back up a little bit. Back up you got the weapon. Back up.”
The PP guy backs up and trips on his feet sending him to the ground. Gibson immediately starts slapping five with the masked Antifa fighter and friends saying “Good job, good job. I like that man, I like that. Holds out a fist for fist bump with the Antifa guy. “hell yah, hell yah, we’re out. That’s what I’m talking about. Tells his guys, “let’s go, let’s go, let’s go.
Gibson talks to the camera, “Two guys fighting like men. Instead of running around and punching people behind their back. Like fucking men. Now we’re gonna leave like real men.
As they leave Antifa spoils for another fight and one of Gibson’s ‘racists’ who’s black, tries to engage but Gibson wrangles him and then berates him for touching a woman on the way back. Berating him for escalating.
Gave the other guy an atta boy for getting in the ring and says it deescalated everything. “We got a truce for the night.”
Here’s another view with the presumed “riot” at toward the end. Make sure you check out these two (pictured) toward the end. That strap-on the Antifa guy has is a lead weight while his buddy has on two sets of brass knuckles as they chased Gibson and company down the street after an Antifa member was knocked down. I’m pretty sure the Multnomah County DA’s office will overlooked any illegal weapons used by their friends in Antifa.
Sure, Gibson came to Cider Riot! to antagonize Antifa and to show their hang out. Is that against the law? Is that inciting riot? Gibson could have engaged in riot, but didn’t. Instead of engaging in “riot,” Gibson de-escalated what was a precarious situation. To Antifa’s credit, they went along but only for awhile as you see on the video directly above. Once again, Gibson de-escalated it. He didn’t commit the act of “riot.”
You may dislike Gibson’s approach. I know I have my problems with it. But Gibson’s antics flush out the modus operandi of Antifa. Every time.
As Buchal said:
These criminal proceedings are part and parcel of the dishonest campaign by Portland leaders to blame out-of-town demonstrators for violence that began and persists because Antifa wants to shut down any right-wing demonstrations in Portland. Antifa publicly asserts its insistence on shutting down these demonstrations by any means necessary, and to date, nearly all the perpetrators of Antifa violence have escaped justice.
If Mr. Gibson’s conduct on May 1st constitutes “riot,” so does the conduct of thousands of peaceful demonstrators who have appeared on the streets of Portland standing near violent Antifa members. The District Attorney’s decision to destroy constitutional protections against free speech by charging a peaceful protester with a crime of violence makes this a dark day for the rule of law in Oregon.
Whenever Antifa shows up there’s violence. When they don’t show up there’s none. This time Gibson and company, a multi-ethnic group of men who are constantly berated by Antifa as “racists” and “nazis,” held back his guys – and the (lily white) Antifa – while one Antifa provocateur was given his wish to fight one Patriot Prayer guy. And one of his guys pushed a woman at the end, Gibson did not engage in any violence. Indeed, armed Antifa antagonizers chased Gibson and company away.
That’s not “riot.” And that’s just something that the Multnomah County DA’s office – filled to the brim with Portland Leftists – can’t accept.
But this time one prominent Constitutional expert was watching and said enough is enough. Senator Ted Cruz called for a federal investigation into Portland Mayor/Police Commissioner Ted Wheeler’s handling of antifa violence.
The people who call themselves “anti” fascist organized an un-permitted response to two separate legal marches by right-leaning groups and ended up clubbing two reporters covering the competing marches.
Quilette editor, Andy Ngo, was beaten so badly that he took himself to the ER:
The beating is hard to watch. Good thing someone got it on video because the police weren’t there to watch it … or stop it:
Well known attorney Harmeet Dhillon said that Ngo had been hospitalized with a brain bleed. Interesting that she would know that. Do you think that she’s Ngo’s attorney?
The thugs who threw rocks and what police believe may have been quick cement “milkshakes” also stole his camera equipment.
Here they are handing out the “milkshakes” from the back of a rented pick up. Notice no one is drinking them. It was 81º in Portland.
Ngo was in the ER and Antifa’s facebook page declared “J29 was a success for the people of Portland and showed that we will always stand up to fascism” and bragged about their concoction:
I’ve begged people to complain to the US Attorney’s Office or DOJ to investigate the political and police response to Antifa. There is a two-tiered system of justice in Multnomah County, Oregon as the Michael Strickland case shows. There is a First, Second and 14th Amendment case to be made against Portland’s one-party system of justice.
Mike Strickland’s case was the canary in the coal mine – Antifa’s ‘Victim Zero’ – on how local prosecutors and police blame the victim if he holds the wrong political views. His case happened before Berkeley, before the campus violence. Worse for him, Strickland drew his legally possessed concealed hand gun and backed off the advancing group of Antifa and other protesters who had already roughed him up and were coming back to do worse.
After police let him go with a ticket. Prosecutors, egged on by anti gun activists, ginned up 24 counts against Strickland, many of them felonies. The Antifa marauders were turned into victims. Here are two of them:
Strickland stood to go to prison for 50 years. So bogus was the case, that Strickland, who was stripped of his First and Second Amendment rights, was sentenced to 41-days of weekend jail. Strickland was ordered to never video another protest and to shut up about his case. As a convicted felon, he will never again be able to carry a gun or vote.
When he finally was allowed to talk about his 2016 case, a ‘protester’ with a cowbell came and drowned him out while police watched and did nothing.
Strickland’s case is on appeal at the Oregon State Court of Appeals. His attorney, Robert Barnes, thinks the case may go to the state Supreme Court. Oregon’s Leftist judiciary, which has failed to acknowledge the Antifa threat and its chilling effect on speech, is not up-to-speed yet.
Here’s what Barnes said of Strickland’s case after he argued at the Appeals Court:
With Harmeet Dhillon and Ted Cruz finally seeing this threat and Robert Barnes working on the Strickland case, we may finally get the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice’s attention. But only if you complain.
Now they’re passing along their bag of tricks to ten-year-old kids.
No, it’s not an article in The Onion or The Babylon Bee, this is real and real serious.
The Portland Professional Protesters™ have planned a “summer camp” to teach children, from fourth to eighth grade, the not-so-fine-art of professional Monkey-Wrenching. Apparently, this is the second year of the effort.
Instead of teaching kids about making a fire, flora, fauna and swimming, this day-camp, held this year at St. Peter and Paul Church on SE 82nd Avenue – nee “Avenue of the Roses,” from August 12 – 23 – teaches kids how to become politically involved through blocking streets, finding “allies” to help them strong arm their ideas into the public sphere, and freeing ‘caged’ lab animals held by evil corporations.
The “Budding Roses Summer Camp,” refers to how these babes-in-the-woods learn how to become anarchists and part of the Portland’s Professional Protesters™ world. The story is told in their own photos.
They take a page from their older teachers and brethren in the “Black Rose Anarchist Federation,” whose members undoubtedly comprise Portland’s Antifa black bloc (they’re all the same people).
The group’s Facebook page tells the story of how the radical protesters use “anarchist pedagogy in action” to teach the kids.
Here, from the 2018 ‘summer camp’ we see that the girls pictured here on the group’s Facebook page learned how to war-game freeing animals from evil corporations, because, after all, “they destroy nature.”
Sure, no indoctrination going on here or anything.
Here’s a close up of what those kids were thinking about:
And their teacher featured in the above photo, is a self-avowed anarchist with the “Black Rose Anarchist Federation.”
These students are pictured discussing going after ICE at the “detention center.”
That’s weird. I’m reminded of something. What could it be?
From these photos, freely seen on the group’s Facebook page, it doesn’t appear as if anyone is asked to come in and explain rights and responsibilities as a citizen. I guess that’s just no fun.
It won’t be long before the kids are taught that this is the way to get sh*t handled on the streets.
And the kids seem to aspire to the usual Antifa tactics, such as covering their faces so cops can’t ID them.
And kids getting masked up for a photo opportunity at the 2018 camp.
Nice social justice fists, kids. What do those fists remind me of?
Going after the “man” with the old hammer and sickle, right kids?
A chip off the old block – black bloc, I mean:
It won’t be long before the kids learn that “snitches get stitches.”
And, no doubt, they’ll learn how to arm-up for street battle like their teachers in anarchist/Antifa groups:
The group supporting this camp makes no effort to hide the tactics and methods it teaches the kids.
Though, obviously, the camp doesn’t put an emphasis on spelling:
Teachers at Portland Public Schools have already conspired – yes, conspired – with local violent protesters to allow students out of class to protest their pet progressive issues. A lawsuit filed recently has taken the District to task for it.
Now Antifa and anarchist groups are grooming grade-schoolers to do the same.
‘Nice’ mask, kid.
It might be interesting to see if a kid, say from a normal Portland family, would wear a wire to this two week camp to check things out.
If so, get in touch with me. Click on the contact link.
The cadre of far Portland Leftists who, at the drop of a hat, will grab their protest signs from the umbrella stand, burrow into their closet for their nail-backed flag pole, and rifle their mom’s sock drawer for their balaclava, stormed city hall on Wednesday – injuring several guards and forcing the city commissioners to flee their meeting.
What was the reason why commissioners, including Mayor Ted Wheeler, fled to the safety of mayor’s office?
“A protest against police brutality itself turned violent Wednesday when activists attempted to storm Portland City Hall, clobbered one security guard and scuffled with several others.
It was the biggest disruption to a Portland City Council meeting in more than a year, but the Council did not address the substance of protesters’ ire: violent crowd control techniques used by police during a large counter-demonstration downtown Saturday.”
Or, in other words, “Portland Professional Protesters™Violently Storm City Hall to Demand City Hall Stop Punishing Them for Violently Storming Portland.”
And they brought their balaclava-wearing ‘best.” Here’s another excerpt from The Oregonian:
“One demonstrator, who was masked and wearing a baseball helmet, smashed a security guard over the head repeatedly with a megaphone. The guard was seen afterward clutching a bag of ice, a bruise beginning to form on his cheek.
City Hall security chief Dorothy Elmore said she was also struck by a protester, in the arm.
An unidentified man, bandana-clad and lying on the floor outside the mayor’s office, was detained and carried out of City Hall by his arms and legs. Cops also arrested Diane Keeauver, 67, said Sgt. Chris Burley, a Portland police spokesman.”
The Orwellianly-named anti-fascist protesters are violently upset about a couple key things:
They’re upset that the city gave the Patriot Prayer group a permit to hold their “free speech” march
They’re PO’d that police for the most part successfully kept them apart from the Patriot Prayer group. Why? According to their Twitter timelines, they’re upset that police “protected” the people they don’t like (and they didn’t have the opportunity to bash their heads in, like, for example, what they did to the guards at City Hall)
They’re upset because police employed flash bang distraction grenades and other methods of non-lethal force to disperse the violent mob– and they worked.
How about not allowing hateful intruders who want to harm this city and citizens to legally obtain permits to “peacefully protest.” Seems like a healthy place to start.
Antifa and their allies in the ACLU, and friendly, in-the-tank websites, depend upon an incurious MSM media and the reliably Sgt Schultz-like BAMN-believing Left-wing power players to ignore a few key things:
Antifa brought illegal mortars to set off in order to blame the cops for deploying too many flash-bangs, the complaint for which they violently stormed City Hall.
During today’s protest officers seized firework mortars (incendiary devices that create a loud explosive noise that can be dangerous when detonated near people). It is unlawful to possess firework mortars (ORS 480.120). pic.twitter.com/5DWnx1iqzK
3. In addition, Antifa feigns outrage by distracting (squirrel!) people to a trumped-up ‘wrong’ done by their opponents. Police have suggested that it was Antifa that brought Confederate flag draped objects to show others, that, see, they’re not the fascists here.
— Voodoo Doughnut Special Investigator Mike Bivins (@itsmikebivins) August 7, 2018
Some Patriot Prayer people may have brought some of it for all I know, but Antifa is all about disinformation, starting with the group’s very name.
4. Also, Antifa blamed ‘injuries’ on cops. That may have happened, but the disinformation campaign by the group included overstating at best, and fabricating at worst (see my post from yesterday which proves this), injuries from ‘police.’ Worse, some have made the case that the ‘injuries’ were accidentally self inflicted from their own explosives.
If the Patriot Prayer group didn’t exist Antifa would find another group of people to assault, buildings to vandalize, ‘wrongs’ to right, and flags to burn.
As exhausted Portlanders already know, this group was pulling these violent antics well before anyone had ever heard of Patriot Prayer.
Mike Strickland has called on the Oregon Appeals Court to set aside his conviction for unholstering pistol to defend himself after being attacked, menaced and chased by masked and armed Antifa protesters in July of 2016.
The incident happened at a “Don’t Shoot Portland”/”Black Lives Matter” event when a group of anarchist/masked Antifa broke off from the main protest group to stop Strickland from filming the event. Just moments before, some of the same people attacked Strickland with their Antifa flag poles and fists.
Strickland feared for his life with the 300 pound Kerensa bearing down on him and others rushing the videographer.
Strickland is a working journalist who covered these events for his own news site on YouTube as well as for other national news sites.
Strickland was found guilty of ten counts of unlawful use of a weapon, ten counts of menacing, and one count of disorderly conduct in the second degree. He could have gone to prison for decades for the offenses. At sentencing, he was ordered to serve 40 days in jail.
The appeal was filed by Robert Barnes of Los Angeles and Mark Geiger of Salem.
In the discussion of the case, Barnes said that Strickland’s case was a study in ambush:
“Attack by ambush followed by trial by ambush followed by verdict by ambush.”
Among the issues that the attorneys claimed were wrongly decided were:
The trial court committed reversible error when it denied Defendant’s motion for a change of venue.
Local media about the case described Strickland in prejudicial terms which would have tainted a jury pool:
Within the articles, misinformation concerning Defendant was widespread and included falsely alleging Defendant was a “white nationalist anarchist”; falsely stating that Defendant was at the protest to instigate others; falsely describing Defendant as a “counter protestor”, “right-wing troll”, and “crazy guy”; and falsely claiming Defendant came to the protest “prepared for battle” and “nearly shot [the protestors].”
Barnes argues that the local prosecutor and police chief clearly tried to prejudice media coverage against Strickland:
At arraignment, State Attorney Katharine Molina told the press that Defendant had a past police report involving a situation wherein an attendee of a vigil for the Orlando nightclub shooting was sent harassing text messages of a race based nature after asking Defendant to leave the vigil. (ER 45) The State pushed this story to the press despite there being no proof that Defendant had anything to do with it. (ER 45) The State essentially accused Defendant of being a racist to the press, in a time where racial issues are at the forefront of American politics, despite no proof existing for the claim. (ER 45) Also, Portland Chief of Police Mike Marshman, in a memo sent to the Portland Police Bureau that was later spread by the press, described Defendant as someone who “menaced other protestors” and claimed that as a result the protest “could have turned deadly.” (ER 135.)
Those statements were not only unfair, they were untrue.
Barnes further argued that the unprovoked beating by an anti gun filmmaker, which severely broke Strickland’s arm, requiring surgery, should have been allowed into evidence to help establish his state of mind at the time of the attack at the Don’t Shoot Portland event.
The trial court committed reversible error when it granted the State’s motion to exclude evidence of an unrelated prior altercation.
A surprise use-of-force witness brought in at the 11th hour, giving defense attorneys only a few hours’ notice was prejudicial and reversible error by Judge Thomas Ryan:
The trial court committed reversible error when it allowed the prosecution to put forward a surprise rebuttal witness because the State had not properly notified the defense of said witness.
The defense attorney took issue with the way in which the ‘victims’ were labeled by local prosecutors, giving Strickland no way to object:
It also offered vague descriptions of the alleged victims, rather than naming them. The court denied the demurrer, holding that the prosecution can charge in the alternative. The trial court committed reversible error when it denied Defendant’s demurrer, although the indictment charged more than one defense not separately stated and it was not definite or certain.
Strickland’s appeals attorney took issue with the Judge’s order not allowing him to use a camera, video equipment – in other words, the tools of his trade – while under parole and probation:
In addition to the myriad of prejudicial decisions against Defendant, the trial court committed an error when it violated Defendant’s constitutional rights guaranteed by the first amendment.
The 456 page document, complete with multiple pages of exhibits and testimony, was filed in court on December 12th.

This video recorded by Michael Strickland as he was attacked that has been under seal by prosecutors has been released from custody.
Now people will finally be able to see the video showing Strickland being manhandled – attacked – by black bloc outfitted anarchists and so called “antifa” at the Portland Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX protest. These are some of the same people whom prosecutors turned into ‘victims’ in their outrageous case against him in Portland, Oregon over the last year. See posts about the case by clicking on this link.
It explains why Strickland, a videographer and journalist working for news websites, pulled his gun in self defense to back off the thugs who admitted in court to conspiring to physically throw him out of the protest.
The video shows what happened before people started filming Strickland being physically thrown out of the Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX protest, march and rally.
Here’s Strickland’s description of the video:
“Violent Ben Kerensa, known domestic terrorist and federal felon, attacks me last July 7th, 2016. You can see him leading a group of mask-clad anarchists, 3 of which of with flag poles in hand, which I have seen used as weapons. They surround me, Kerensa verbally accosts me, then begins to physically attack me. You can hear me issue verbal commands as I start to retreat. Benjamin Jacob Kerensa begins to pursue me as I retreat, and calls for others to join in the pursuit. After retreating down the block, while being aggressively pursued, my attention was drawn to the bulk of mob on my right. At this point, Ben Kerensa begins to flank me from my left, my blind side, and I caught him out of the corner of my eye. At that point I draw and issue commands for everyone to get away from me. I had every reason to believe that Ben Kerensa’s 400 pound body was seconds away from flattening me into the pavement, and that several others, already in a mob mentality, would join in, not only beating me but also robbing me of personal possessions, which included my video camera, computer, other electronic devices, and my Glock 27. They left me with no choice but to draw in self defense.
Somehow, Kerensa and the rest of the mob are considered “victims” and were never charged with any crimes, even though Ben Kerensa’s actions clearly meet the definition of Riot (ORS 166.015), Assault (ORS 163.165), Menacing (ORS 163.190), and Disorderly Conduct (ORS 166.025), having begun the altercation in the first place.
Benjamin Jacob Kerensa has a long criminal rap sheet that includes bomb threats, impersonating FBI agents to get people SWATed, filing false police reports, improper use of 911, theft, writing fraudulent checks, and more. He also been known to creepily stalk students at PSU, attack female police accountability activists, and tried to get the mob to attack another videographer earlier this June.
It is best to stay away from him if you see him in public and have no contact with him. I post this as a public service announcement so that people know how dangerous and violent he is.
This video was my first person video of the events that night. I was arrested a few minutes after I was attacked, and my camera and SD were seized immediately. This video was part of the sealed evidence. The prosecutors, Kate Molina and Todd Jackson, and Judge Thomas Ryan did not want the public to see this video before the trial. The evidence has since been unsealed.”
Strickland was charged with 21 counts, ten of which were felonies, for defending himself. He’s been sentenced to 40 days in jail, 29 with time served.
Three men stood up for right and paid a huge price on the Max line on Friday when a crazed man threatened two Muslim women on the train. Two of the men died and another was badly hurt as they were slashed by the knife wielding crazed man.
In this video, Twitter user “St. Tenderheart” claims to have been an eyewitness who chased down suspected killer Jeremy Christian who was still foaming at the mouth and in a psychotic episode before his arrest:
First, a spokesman for the far leftist anarchist, self described “anti fascists” in the form of Cameron Whitten said the nutter who killed two people on Portland’s light rail was a Trump supporter and that as long as Trump was in the White House he would feel unsafe:
Yes, the person who likely committed the murder is a repeat offender and suffering from mental illness. But if Donald Trump was not president today, I believe we would still have two bright lights among us today. I believe that stronger than I believe in my own birthday.
Then, Marc Abrams of the KXL weekend radio show Kremer, Abrams and Pasero claimed that the nutter was a Christian. No, Marc. His last name is Christian. He’s no more a Christian than you are Abram.
Attempts have been made to connect the killer to the “alt right” (whatever that means) because the accused killer turned up to a so called “free speech” event in Portland in April. As you can see by the video posted by YouTuber Airliner World, the suspect was disavowed, told to get out, shut up, and even one guy said “he’s on his own.” As the YouTuber put it:
Please don’t put Jeremy with those guys, they have already made it clear that he wasn’t a part of them.
Christian was separated from the so called “Patriot Prayer Group” by the cops because they didn’t want him in their group. He’s shown on tape (surrounded by photographers) complaining about it.
Christian then walked down the street toward the anarchist, black bloc protesters.
But, oddly, Ted Wheeler is not calling for an end to the far left protests that occur nearly every week in Portland — only the so called “alt right” one scheduled for June 4th and 10th.
Remember now, to some people facts are fungible. They’re plug-and-play components for certain intellectually dishonest people to construct them into a jerry-rigged storyline so long as it concludes that it’s all Donald Trump’s fault.
In the left’s and City Hall’s (but I repeat myself) zeal to construct this narrative, Mayor Ted Wheeler has taken it upon himself to urge the federal government officials to stop a planned “free speech” protest by what he calls an “alt right” group on federal property on June 4th and another one June 10th.
I recognize that Portland’s heightened political atmosphere is ripe for riot and the mayor wants to keep things peaceful. But allow me to remind you that the city has been the victim of several such riots without the presence of so called “alt right” free speech supporters. In fact, the street violence has been a function entirely of the left and helped by the city’s inability or unwillingness to confront it.
Scapegoating the “alt right” in this case is absurd, intemperate and unbecoming a serious politician.
I don’t recall Wheeler calling for revoking or disallowing the planned May Day riots and I actually asked him to do that. I’ve also called for the National Guard to protect the citizens of Portland during the leftist’s riots due to the city’s unwillingness to do its job.
It was leftist thugs who threatened violence against Republicans participating in a civic parade and got it canceled.
It’s understandable that Wheeler’s concerned about riots. But who’s been doing the rioting in Portland? Not the so called “alt right.” It seems that the better part of valor would be to appeal to the leftists to leave the permitted protesters alone.
