Or. State Senator Defends Mike Strickland Before Colleagues

Mike Strickland got a show of support from Oregon State Senator Kim Thatcher Thursday on the floor of the Senate floor.

Thatcher gave a one minute and 20 second speech on the Strickland free speech and Second Amendment case in the time saved for “remonstrances.”

As you can see from the video below, Thatcher thoughtfully and forcefully laid out the judicial wrongs committed in Strickland’s conviction on more than 20 counts stemming from Antifa thugs attacking him as he covered a Portland protest rally in July 2016.

Strickland’s appeal is now with the state appeals court.

For back ground please take a look at my nearly three-year-long coverage of the Strickland case.

Radio talker turned candidate, Bill Post, suspends show on Oregon station

billpostConservative Salem, Oregon radio show host, Bill Post, has announced today he’ll suspend his talk show while running for an Oregon House seat (see his announcement below).

Post explains FCC rules and election laws require him to step back from his week day show, although he says it is “a sacrifice I planned for and am willing to make for the opportunity to represent the people of House District 25.” He’ll remain in operations and program director positions at KYKN.

Post recently announced a run for House District 25 being vacated by Representative Kim Thatcher, who is running to replace retiring State Senator Larry George.

House District 25 comprises Keizer, St. Paul and Newberg. Post and his wife live in Keizer.

You can reach Post–and by that I mean send money– at www.BillPost.us.

George bows out, Thatcher jumps in to race for his state senate

Less than 18 hours after Larry George announced he wouldn’t run again for his senate seat, Representative Kim Thatcher jumped into the race.

“I’ve been honored to serve in the Oregon House of Representatives over the past 10 years and work closely with Senator Larry George on a number of important issues,” explained Thatcher. “Senator George’s skills and leadership will be missed. I will do my best to go forward in some of the key areas the Senator and I have worked on and look for new opportunities to help the citizens of our great state.”

Thatcher is a good fit for the district since her house rep district covers some of George’s senate one. The senate district includes Keizer, Newberg, St. Paul, Sherwood, King City, Wilsonville, Hillsboro, Tigard and Bull Mountain. Thatcher is a warrior for her constituents and would get my vote.
