Watch This Guy Advance on Mike Strickland Right Before He Pulled Gun At BLM Protest

People have come forward to identify the man whom we believe uttered these words the day of the Black Lives Matter protest in downtown Portland:

“I Was There! I’m the reason why he pulled the gun.”

The gun to which he refers is the gun pulled by citizen journalist Mike Strickland in an attempt to stop an onslaught of people who were bearing down on him — even as he backed away in fear.

Strickland spent several days in Multnomah County jail on $250,000 bail all because he pulled his weapon in self defense against thugs, anarchists and black bloc rabble. They were the ones who acted illegally and Strickland paid the price for legally defending himself.

Strickland will be back in a Portland courtroom on August 5th to face four charges — two of them felonies — for unholstering his weapon in self defense.

And we have yet more proof of self defense.

Now. Who is this guy?

We believe we know his name.

I heard one name independently from at least five different people.

One name.

Benjamin Kerensa.

One person just sent me this link via email as an identifier: https://www.google.com/search?q=benjamin+kerensa+portland&sa=X&biw=1680&bih=941&tbm=isch&imgil=eISn7sIKw2rfCM%253A%253B-OcIOEKMtZ4GzM%253Bhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Ftwitter.com%25252Fbkerensa&source=iu&pf=m&fir=eISn7sIKw2rfCM%253A%252C-OcIOEKMtZ4GzM%252C_&usg=__MwZRm00xBnCTMtArGA31ms8MjkM%3D&ved=0ahUKEwj-_8TeqPbNAhVY2mMKHRY8DA4QyjcIPw&ei=2UiJV74v2LSPA5b4sHA#imgdii=eISn7sIKw2rfCM%3A%3BeISn7sIKw2rfCM%3A%3B21j9mRwFhWq-rM%3A&imgrc=eISn7sIKw2rfCM%3A

Another person just sent me an email with his name. A website commenter wrote his name in a comment. Two others from Facebook identified him.

Kerensa is an open source tech acolyte who, when he’s not sitting in front of computer screens, apparently rushes people he doesn’t like at protests.

Here is the man, identified by people as Benjamin Kerensa, bearing down on Mike Strickland as he tries to back away from the smaller group that broke off from the main BLM protest. This was in an apparent attempt to hurt him and keep him from filming. Watch the man believed to be Kerensa at the top right of this GIF.

This video has been out there for all to see on The Oregonian website. The paper stripped this video off periscope and youtube accounts of the incident. But it wasn’t until I heard from people who identified Ka

Kerensa and told me he was in this video that I was able to connect the dots. See the part I isolated at :17:

Notice that the very second he saw the man identified as Kerensa coming, he immediately tensed and pointed his gun in his direction.

Why? Because the “big guy” roughed up Mike just minutes before. Read about that part of it here.

Here it is in slo-mo:

And they were all converging on him. As Mike told me:

“I’m watching the guys with masks with the sticks …they’re beelining for me…and they’ve got the sticks…and yelling, ‘Get the fuck out of here!!’ They keep coming at me screaming, ‘Get the fuck out of here!!’”

And then the man identified as Kerensa is seen moving around to come at Strickland perhaps from another direction:

Here’s another angle which shows the man identified as Kerensa waiting on the sidewalk:

I’ve held this post in hopes of receiving a reply to the email I sent to Kerensa July 24th:

Hello Benjamin,

Based on photos from that day, I see that you were there when Mike Strickland pulled his gun at the BLM event recently in Portland.

I had some questions:

Where were you in relation to Strickland when he pulled his gun?
What were you doing at the event?
Have you gone to protests in Portland before?
What’s your relationship with the protesters at the event that day?
Did you file a police report that day?
Had you seen Mike Strickland before that day?
Were you in fear for your life?
Did you exchange words with Strickland before he pulled his gun that day?
Did you talk with Strickland after he pulled his gun?
What did you think about the incident?
Did you think he was within his rights of self defense to pull his gun?
Did you hear anyone threaten him?
Did you see anyone threaten him?

What were your general observations about that day?

Thank you so much for your help.

He hasn’t responded.

Strickland has a court date on August 5th. If the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office doesn’t drop charges after all of the evidence showing Strickland moved in self defense, well, then the ‘rule of law’ isn’t really a ‘rule’ is it? In fact, it would be closer to a goal-line-moving enterprise solely dependent upon the political whims of whoever’s in charge.

It’s sure looking that way.

“Self Defense”: Lefty Videographer at BLM Protest Told Cops Twice That PDX Reporter Mike Strickland Drew Gun In Self Defense

A lefty Portland videographer, who goes by the nom de guerre “Mike Bluehair,” has told police for the second time that reporter Mike Strickland pulled a gun on protesters in self-defense. Bluehair told a detective at the scene the night of the incident at the Black Lives Matter protest that Strickland drew his weapon in self defense and reiterated the same in a follow up phone interview. Bluehair recorded the conversation which is below.

Bluehair has taken the most compelling video seen so far of the moments during and right after the Portland reporter drew a weapon and pointed it toward protesters converging on him. Strickland’s own video, which he says exonerates him, has been seen neither by the public, nor at this writing that we’re aware, by district attorney investigators. Strickland has been in jail since July 8th and will be in court tomorrow to answer to two felonies and two misdemeanors relating to unholstering his weapon at the protest.

The charges, which were increased at his first hearing, are being seen more and more as being  transparently politically motivated by anti second amendment Multnomah County prosecutors.

In one exchange, Bluehair even drew a picture for Officer Sarah Taylor on why Strickland drew his weapon:

Officer Sarah Taylor:  You don’t get the sense that he was out of control.

Mike Bluehair:  No, he was being very measured. … If you look at my video off to the left, you can clearly see a guy, seconds before he pulls a gun out –rather large black gentleman — drop a back pack and move in towards him quickly.”

And, as I’ve reported previously, black bloc protesters also came at Strickland with their flagstaffs.

Here’s one guy showing how they’re used:

Mike Bluehair also told Officer Taylor that others in the crowd felt Strickland was in danger too:

“Some of the people who helped Strickland feel safe, believe it or not, were anarchists. I have a friend that was in black bloc attire that was there that turned around and helped me keep the crowd from Strickland.

Like I said, I think he [Strickland] was feeling the need for self-protection, but I didn’t see what happened leading up to that. There will be testifying that I know about the situation.

I think he was being very measured and controlled in his movements. He put the thing in his retention holster, or whatever, when he felt that there was no danger.”

Strickland also believes that Mike Bluehair was trying to warn him before the incident happened.  I asked Mike Bluehair about that. Here’s what he said:

“I told him something to the effect of watch his ass or some such. I don’t remember the exact words I used. That said, I’m pretty sure his camera was rolling When I said that. People in that crowd looked more Agro than usual.Thanx Victoria for covering mikes story. I wish people would get to through their thick skulls that if we don’t stand up for mikes liberty we are ultimately eroding our own. [sic]”

Bluehair sent me his video of the conversation he held with a Portland Police Bureau officer. See it below.

He also told the cop:

“I can pass along the names of two individuals that saw the entire thing. And they’re both willing to, you know, testify as to what they saw.”

I asked him for information on the two and he demurred.

The officer on the call told Mike Bluehair that she was glad for his “impressions” of what happened but felt some of what he said was hearsay.

At this point, I have to shake my head.  In court, the District Attorney used worse than hearsay — let’s call it derivative hearsay — to increase the charges against Strickland. She took the word of a leftist protester who was pissed off at Strickland over texts he sent. The protester labeled Strickland a “white nationalist” who sent him “possibly race based threats.”

Because of the protester’s conjecture about why Strickland asked them particular questions about a previous protest, he was labeled a racist and the district attorney’s office used that hearsay to increase the charges against him — perhaps destroying his career and livelihood. Worse, costing him his freedom.

Strickland sits in jail on $250,000.00 bail on trumped up additional charges because someone got their feelings hurt.

Strickland will be in court for a bail hearing Monday at 1:30.

Protester Going After Mike Strickland Was “Black Panther” Calling for Violence & Gun Play Before #BLM March

((Not safe for work.))

Yesterday, I demonstrated conclusively that Oregon-based citizen journalist Mike Strickland had a defensible reason for drawing his weapon at advancing anarchists and Black Lives Matter protesters that surrounded him on the street during a protest. The incident, which subsequently videotaped an assault against Strickland, occurred near the federal and county courthouses in downtown Portland.

Four police officers and a second amendment expert weighed in on the case in yesterday’s post, so I won’t re-litigate it here.

Strickland now sits in a Multnomah County Sheriff’s jail cell on a felony charge. His bail has been set at $250,000.00. To say that’s excessive for one with no police record is an understatement. Kevin Starrett of the Oregon Firearms Federation calls him a “political prisoner.”

But, now, thanks to video posted by a Twitter user who goes by the name “Prison Planet,” we know that protesters were amped up in advance with a pep talk at Pioneer Courthouse Square by non other than self described “Black Panthers.”

As we’ve since learned, the Dallas shooter  responsible for shooting 11 people, killing five white police officers last week, was an erstwhile member of the Houston New Black Panther Party, an organization which has called for violence against the police, among other things.

Here’s the “pep talk” these New Black Panther Party members gave to the Portland Professional Protester crowd. H/T to John Trudel for tipping me off to this video:

The self described Panther admonished the crowd that if things got violent,

“You pull your pistol out and bust it.”

He referred to others as “the enemy.”

There was the wind-up. Now for the delivery:

“When we move with the Panthers, trust when you see me move, I’m moving in violence!”

“We’re tired of asking y’all to help us! We need action! We need to fucking take action.”

“I don’t give a fuck if you fucking knock them over. You run up on ’em, whatever! Whatever you do, you’d better fucking take action!”

Now, as discussed yesterday in the break down of the video tape, after pulling his weapon, the mob was held back. But then a breakaway group followed Strickland as he fearfully backed up the street. He kept telling them, “I’m leaving, I’m leaving!” The photographer told the crowd to leave him alone.

Look who the leader is: Sideways hat. He follows Strickland up the street:

While everyone else has been implored to leave Strickland alone, sideways hat comes at him, sometimes seemingly to be a calming force, but definitely there to intimidate.

Here he is again. First, at Pioneer Courthouse Square holding his hat:

And later walking toward Strickland wearing his hat:

Did Mike Strickland see the pre rally pep talk by the New Black Panthers? Probably. This was a dangerous crowd. Strickland was smart to carry his pistol.
