Head of Tenants Group Claims Homegrown Oregonians Are ‘White Racists’ & Should Be Put Out of Landlord Business

Margot Black is the founder of the group called “Portland Tenants United.”

This group, as well as the Portland Professional Protesters,  got Portland City Commissioners to pass an ordinance to  stick it to landlords by forcing them to pay the relocation costs of tenants who are displaced by no-cause evictions and those who leave willingly because of rent increases.

The aim, of course,  is to eventually bring rent prices under the control of government and away from the market place.

In her day job, Margo Black is the director of “Symbolic and Quantitative Resource Center” at Lewis and Clark College, which is a fancy way of saying that she manages the math and science tutors.

Though she is the director of “quantitative” stuff, she appears to have some difficulty quantifying, not to mention validating her wild claim about, “home grown” Oregon landlords.

“Home grown Oregonians tend to be white and racist.”

She felt perfectly comfortable in her own skin in making this offensive and outrageous statement on a recent edition of KATU TV’s “Your Voice Your Vote” hoping that calling others ‘racist’ would win converts to her plan for government take over of housing.

Make sure you catch the part where she says “mom and pop” landlords are too sympathetic so she prefers to deal with large corporate landlords because they’re easier to manipulate by government regulation.

Bomb Threats, Activism, Anarchy: ‘Victim’ in Strickland Gun Case Is a Convicted Liar

In October of 2003, then 19-year-old Benjamin Kerensa was an angry man. Nothing much has changed between then and now.

Photo provided to Victoria Taft  by San Francisco Police Department

The 11th grade drop out was proficient at coding and had appeared to have become beguiled by the computer and online culture of Silicon Valley.

When he came to his volunteer job for a San Francisco mayoral candidate Jim Reid, co-workers remembered that he spent time on the computer and eating the food donated to the campaign.

Kerensa told the candidate he was homeless and appreciated the his stance on the prolific homelessness issues that continue to confront San Francisco. He was said to be an “enthusiastic” volunteer and kept the office open “day and night.”

But his online life wasn’t so sanguine. When Kerensa was given only limited credentials to attend the prestigious Oracle World computer confab in San Francisco, the 19-year-old apparently thought, ‘Well, if I can’t go, they can’t go.’

He called in a bomb threat to the Moscone Convention Center. The entire place, including the thousands assembled for Oracle World as well as other conventioneers, were evacuated.

And it wasn’t a one-off. While San Francisco Police told me the reports from the incident were difficult to get their hands on, an article on the bomb threat at the time made clear that Kerensa was a pro at this.

Kerensa made threats to his former employer, the AMC 1000 Theater,  the Moscone Center, a building at the UN Plaza, a federal building and the Navy vessel, the USS Cleveland. And he did it all from the mayoral candidate’s office:

The threats were lodged in computer messages to the FBI and the Police Department on an electronic network run by MCI that is designed to help hearing-impaired people make telephone calls over the computer via the Internet. Authorities said they were hindered in their investigation by the confidentiality that had been afforded to users of the system. Managers of the service, IP-Relay.com, did not return calls seeking comment.

The threats began with a series of telephonic messages against the AMC 1000 Theater on Aug. 27, prompting the evacuation of 1,000 moviegoers.

New threats were made to the theater Aug. 30, two days after a pair of pipe bombs exploded at Chiron Corp.’s Emeryville headquarters. The threats said a bomb would go off “just like the Emeryville explosion,” authorities said.

Kerensa went to federal prison in Lompoc for several years for the threats:

Kerensa Docket 3-03-cr-00333-JSW

The charges against Kerensa said that he meant to “intimidate individuals and unlawfully …damage and destroy buildings and other real and personal property by means of fire and an explosive.”

The candidate was shocked:

“If I knew he was going to make bomb threats from my office, I wouldn’t have let him in for a second.”

It was an M-O he would use in Oregon and again against another former employer, but more on those later.

Now Kerensa is one of the ‘victims’  of Mike Strickland in his case in Multnomah County.

He’s here, one of several of his compatriots in black block who rushed the journalist when they saw him recording a Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX event:

As I explained in my previous post:

“Strickland drew his legally obtained and licensed concealed Glock pistol, never placing his finger on the trigger, but drew down on the people advancing toward him, stopping what he believed was going to be an attack. He withdrew, walking backwards away from the threat and holstered his weapon when he believed the immediate threat was over.

Since then, the Portland area journalist has been jailed, his tools of his trade–cameras, recording equipment and his own recordings, which are exculpatory evidence in his case, have been confiscated–and Strickland has been ordered to stop working in journalism, thus depriving him of his ability to make a living.

This heavy-handed attack on the rights on one man has been done by the Multnomah County District Attorney and is due to what some involved in the case believe is a political agenda.

Absurdly, the case is also based on the testimony by some of the very people who were rushing to attack Strickland.”

And now Kerensa and some of the very same bad actors who had roughed up Strickland before and were coming back for more are depicted by the Multnomah County DA’s Office as ‘victims.’

But, the prosecution’s faith in Kerensa to tell the truth is belied by his criminal past and the fact that he has a personal grudge against Strickland. More on that next time.

Strickland Hearing Today & the Defense Has a Surprise for the DA

Mike Strickland will be in Multnomah County court today as the judge hears motions for his case.

A perfunctory and necessary rite, both sides will get an idea of where the other side is going strategically, if they didn’t already know from discovery in the felony gun use case.

Strickland was arrested and charged with 21 counts of menacing and unlawful use of a firearm for drawing his hand gun in self defense during the July 7, 2016 Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot Portland protest.

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s office clearly has decided to use Strickland’s case as a precedent  to draw the line at when legal concealed handgun permit holders may draw a weapon in Multnomah County. A lot rides on this case, which is why prosecutors haven’t dropped it, even though Strickland’s case of self defense is stronger on the merits.

Through research and interviews, including trying to talk to the deputy district attorney involved in the case, and talking to eyewitnesses and anarchists, the consensus is, this case is  politically motivated.

In fact, it’s an outcome in search of a case.

Which brings us to the number one “victim” in the case.

It was last July 7th. Hundreds of protesters gathered in downtown Portland for a Black Lives Matter/Don’t Shoot PDX rally, march and protest.  Those gathered at Pioneer Courthouse Square received a pep talk from self described black panther members on doing violence (which I’ve elaborated on before and have received more information on which I’ll outline in a future post) and proceeded to march toward the rally spot.

As protesters listened to speeches on the steps of a nearby building, a smaller group of anarchists saw Strickland recording the event. Strickland covers these events as a journalist for his own social media outlets, one of which is entitled, “Laughing at Liberals” and for a popular news website.

The men made a decision to “go get” Strickland.

The reason why will be dealt with in a future post.

During the protest, a contingent of anarchists snaked around the crowd and rushed Strickland from at least two sides. The moment is captured on video which I’ve chronicled in my previous posts. And since those posts were published,  more video evidence has been obtained.

The first victim mentioned in the complaint against Strickland describes “male wearing a blue hooded top, dark pants and a black messenger bag” who was “in fear of imminent serious injury…”

The “victim” is this man:

The man whom the DA claimed to be “in fear of imminent serious injury…” was one of the anarchists encircling Strickland. He’s the heavy-set man coming at Strickland on his left flank. He stopped only because Strickland drew his weapon.

Why would Strickland ‘go to guns’ at this point? Because he’d already been roughed up by some of the same people in the crowd.

Here’s a photo of this “victim” from a previous protest.

Police officers who have seen this tape have previously stated on this website that Strickland broke no laws. At the point they saw this full video, they didn’t know that the anarchists had previously roughed up and threatened Strickland. Knowing that, it seems that  Strickland had an even greater reason to pull his gun in self defense.

The DA terms this man a “victim” when he certainly appears to have helped provoke the act of self defense. Furthermore, this “victim” possesses  a long and ignominious rap sheet which includes a major federal  bomb threat case and other very, ah,  interesting crimes. Indeed, the DA is using a very shady character to buttress their rickety case against Mike Strickland.

I look forward to the cross examination of this man by the defense.

My next post will outline who he is at length and his rap sheet.

Environy: Global Warming Event Postponed Due to Snow

The same people who were in lock step with Al Gore as he predicted the “true planetary emergency point of no return“–for 2016, the sea levels wiping out American beach front homes, increasing tornadoes, hurricanes, melting Arctic ice caps and the extinction of the polar bears, had to cancel an event late last week.

It turns out that the people who believe that man is so powerful that he can change the weather, couldn’t get the weather to cooperate with their global warming news conference.

You’ll note that the news release (compliments of Lars Larson) shows that the global warming crowd has now included in their list of man-made horribles earthquakes.

Anything to keep the money rolling in, I guess.

POSTPONED: Mayor Hales and Community Activists to Celebrate Fossil Fuel Infrastructure Ban

Portland, Oregon – Mayor Charlie Hales will join community leaders and activists immediately following the anticipated passage of a new city ordinance that renews Portland’s commitment to strong climate action, lower carbon emissions, effective seismic resilience, a safer Columbia River Gorge, and a safer environment for those in and around Portland. This policy also sends a strong signal about the seriousness of Portland’s commitment to green infrastructure and a transition to clean, renewable energy sources.

The ordinance prohibits the construction of new fossil fuel infrastructure that has the capability to transload fossil fuels or is larger than two million gallons in capacity and forbids existing terminals from expanding in size, preventing any further potential damage to their local environment.

This victory is the result of over two years of organizing from local activists and community members committed to the betterment of Portland’s environment and the protection of our neighbors’ health and safety. The ordinance is an important step forward for Portland and should serve as a model for other municipalities and states.

All speakers will be available for a brief question and answer session and interviews immediately following the press conference.

What: Mayor Hales and Community Activists to Celebrate Fossil Fuel Infrastructure Ban

When: To be determined

Where: Portland City Hall Atrium (1221 SW 4th Ave, Portland OR)

This policy was worked on by 350PDX, Audubon Society of Portland, Columbia Riverkeeper, Climate Action Coalition, Friends of the Columbia Gorge, Oregon PSR (Physicians for Social Responsibility), Center for Sustainable Economy, the Oregon Chapter Sierra Club, and more.

The very same people who predicted world wide calamity this year due to man’s influence on the weather, couldn’t get enough cooperation to get rid of the snow.

Remember when the world laughed at Christian charlatans who predicted the world’s demise?

When Former Oregon Governor Barbara Roberts ‘Flipped Off’ Reporter for Asking Her About Her ‘Buddy’, Accused Sex Offender, Terry Bean

While looking for other things the other day, I came across this 2015 video of a lefty videographer verbally going after former governor Barbara Roberts and Governor Kate Brown on the issue of their friend, millionaire Democrat money man and accused child molester, Terry Bean.

The gay activist and founder of Human Rights Campaign was acquitted of having sex with underage boys when the chief accuser failed to show up for court. Bean offered the boy $225,000 for the allegation to go away, according to the outraged prosecutor in the case.

At the time of this video (taken during the Rose Festival parade) in 2015, the allegations were still top of mind for many Oregonians. Though the guy didn’t know who Barbara Roberts was — seriously, he did cajole her into this moment:

Video: “Concerned Citizen” Leaves Car Shaming Note on Portland Man’s VW & ‘Suggests’ He Get Rid of It.

Video below: The car note is  another case of the “Keep Portland Weird” crowd attempting to define what’s appropriately weird for all.

KATU reports that over the weekend Rick Gencarelli received an anonymous note on his VW Tdi car urging him to get rid of it because VW was found cheating emissions standards and that his car was polluting “2-4 times a Chevy Suburban”.

Photo: Screenshot/KATU
Photo: Screenshot/KATU

The “sympathetic and concerned citizen of Portland” wrote in the thinly veiled threat that Gencarelli’s car was manufactured by a cheating car company created by the Nazis. Here’s what the History.com says about the Nazi claim:

“…[T]he government of Germany–then under the control of Adolf Hitler of the National Socialist (Nazi) Party–forms a new state-owned automobile company, then known as Gesellschaft zur Vorbereitung des Deutschen Volkswagens mbH. Later that year, it was renamed simply Volkswagenwerk, or “The People’s Car Company.”

You’d think the you-must-obey-me-for-the-people likely socialist who wrote the note would be inclined to support a “people’s car company” founded by a socialist organization, but I guess the extermination of the Jews/holocaust made it into the consciousness of even this self-centered-self-important-we-know-better-than-you-simpering butt-insky.

Cute cat, but the car must GO! Photo: Screenshot/KATU
Cute cat, but the car must GO! Photo: Screenshot/KATU

Here’s what the note read:

“Hello, VW TDI owner. While cute, your TDI is outfitted with a cheating device meant to elude emission standards.

Your car is currently polluting at rates higher than nearly any modern gasoline car today.

Not to mention VW lied to you and the public, and was founded by Nazis 🙁 .

Perhaps it’s time to consider a different car. (Signed) A sympathetic and concerned citizen of Portland.”

Gencarelli posted the note on his restaurant’s Instagram account:

He posed a question to the writer of the note:

“I wonder if they would buy me a new car.”

Odd, that a person who would go to all the trouble to cut and paste that VW logo, use multiple colors and print the note wouldn’t bother leaving a signature to identify himself.

I imagine it won’t be the last time Gencarelli will be targeted by the left in Portland for his politically incorrect behavior. Get a load of the name of his restaurant: Lardo. Lardo has three Portland area locations. Good for him!

But I know two Portlanders put OUT of business in this town because the politically “correct” left didn’t like what they served or sold. Beware.

Signed,

A (Genuinely) Sympathetic and Concerned (Living Elsewhere) Native Portlander.

Bruce McCain: Bruce of the Blogforce

Bruce McCain’s sober civility was his hallmark in Oregon’s body politic. His memorial is set for May 30

Bruce McCain died Monday.

Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon — indeed, the entire body politic — is the poorer.

You may know Bruce from his television appearances on local TV news casts, the voice of reason on my and Lars’s shows, his time as a Multnomah County Sheriff’s Captain, his professionalism as a Reynolds School Board Member, tireless legal advocate, political tactician, parishioner in the pew, the photographer on the sidelines, the doting grandfather and loving Dad. Husband.

He was a blogger on this website and his own.  A colleague.

He was all of these things.

But Bruce was one more thing that I believe needs to be said:

Bruce was the civil voice in a very uncivil political place.

Columnist David Brooks says:

Politics exists on the surface, but conduct is at a deeper realm.

When I would engage in free-style verbal flame-throwing, Bruce would draw me back to reason. He did that for many people. His inner conduct — devotion to and love of God — was his deeper realm and informed everything he did.

At one point in his life, Bruce considered the ministry as a profession, but found his calling in different areas. Still, he was always guiding people. Always the teacher.

Greek philosopher Heraclitus said,

Character is Destiny.

In whatever he did, Bruce brought his best. There were never any halfway measures on his part. Whether it was in his writings, legal briefs, advocacy or even his photographs, he always strived for his best.

And he always strove to do more. The father of the polio vaccine, Jonas Salk, once said:

The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more.

Bruce’s work was never done. There was always a challenge to confront, a case to win, a wrong to be righted.

He was ambitious, but his ambition was never at the expense of others. There was room for everyone in his successes.

And he was trustworthy. As fellow Blogforce member (and Bruce’s good friend for many years), former Sheriff Bernie Giusto wrote:

From the earliest days at the Sheriff’s office Lt McCain was one of my closest and most trusted advisors. From there Bruce McCain became my closest confidant. When things were very tough during my second term, Bruce’s unwavering friendship was indescribably vital to my life at that time. The last time [I] talked with Bruce he called me friend. A great honor friend. I will never forget your strong character and honest friendship.

And he was generous. Generous with his time, his expertise and his spirit. On his daughter Kelly’s Facebook page I saw this photo:

bruce family

In the age of self indulgent, beauty-shot selfies, the meticulous photographer gave his family this photograph of himself. He’s not at his best here. He’s dying. He may not have wished this to be his parting shot. But in his spirit of generosity and love, he gave his family this memory.

But they’ll always have this one too.

bruce selfie

And so many more memories, little and big.

Salk once said,

Our greatest responsibility is to be good ancestors.

Bruce McCain was a good man. A man of rare generosity. A man of good character. A servant leader.

He knows where he was going and to those he left behind –his descendants– this ancestor left a road map of how to do it right.

Rest in peace, friend.

‘Bring It, Baby!’ East Portland Man Helps Lead a Movement to Secede from Portland.

One thing you can’t do is ignore Pat Edwards.

Back in the day, Pat Edwards would call the Victoria Taft Show. His signature sign off would be, “Bring it, Baby!”

The phrase was a throw down; a dare-you move and marker the-now East Portland resident would toss off as he signed off. He hasn’t changed. He’s a git-her-done kind of guy.

Pat’s an extraordinary man. After getting out of the Marines, he became an entrepreneur, fast-car fanatic, went back to school and re-calibrated his career. He’s now eased into life as an East Portland resident and can’t believe how this part of town gets such a short shrift.

KATU reports Edwards is now part of a group of East County residents trying to secede from the rest of the City:

According to the group, East Portland has since been forced to deal with drawbacks like an increase in crime, and an inequity in spending on services, roads and park development.

Movement spokesman, Pat Edwards, says, “We’re finding that it’s becoming very difficult as a citizen in this community to have a quality of life based upon the amount of taxes that we contribute to the city of Portland.”

He’s part of an effort by the East Portland de-Annexation Movement to collect 31,000 signatures to put the secession to a vote in November of 2016.

A Facebook page has been set up to call attention to the effort.

Pat is a fair minded, independent thinker. You should pay attention to him.

KITZHABER ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION

John Kitzhaber will retire on Wednesday of next week.

I do solemnly swear that I've been up to no good. Image Credit: The Oregonian
I do solemnly swear that I’ve been up to no good.

Here’s his petulant letter released today.

I am announcing today that I will resign as Governor of the State of Oregon.

It is not in my nature to walk away from a job I have undertaken – it is to stand and fight for the cause. For that reason I apologize to all those people who gave of their faith, time, energy and resources to elect me to a fourth term last year and who have supported me over the past three decades. I promise you that I will continue to pursue our shared goals and our common cause in another venue.

I must also say that it is deeply troubling to me to realize that we have come to a place in the history of this great state of ours where a person can be charged, tried, convicted and sentenced by the media with no due process and no independent verification of the allegations involved. But even more troubling – and on a very personal level as someone who has given 35 years of public service to Oregon – is that so many of my former allies in common cause have been willing to simply accept this judgment at its face value.

It is something that is hard for me to comprehend – something we might expect in Washington, D.C. but surely not in Oregon. I do not know what it means for our shared future but I do know that it is seriously undermining civic engagement in this state and the quality of the public discourse that once made Oregon stand out from the pack.

Nonetheless, I understand that I have become a liability to the very institutions and policies to which I have dedicated my career and, indeed, my entire adult life. As a former presiding officer I fully understand the reasons for which I have been asked to resign. I wish Speaker Kotek and President Courtney and their colleagues on both sides of the aisle success in this legislative session and beyond. And I hope that they are truly committed to carrying forward the spirit of bipartisanship and collaboration that has marked the last four years in Oregon.

In 1968 I was inspired to commit my life to public service by the last campaign of Robert Kennedy. Forty-one years ago I started work as an emergency room doctor in Roseburg with a goal to make life better for those in my care. Ever since then, I have sought to keep that focus by trying to make things better for the people and the communities of this state that I love. I have had the extraordinary privilege of pursuing that work as a State Representative, State Senator, Senate President and as your Governor.

Over those years, I have had the honor to be a part of some remarkable achievements.

We responded to the worst recession and financial crisis since the Great Depression by rebuilding an Oregon economy that has added jobs and vitality in many regions of our state. And, unlike many other parts of our nation, we did it together with cooperation and respect for Oregon and for each other.

We successfully defended Oregon’s spectacular natural heritage of clean water, clean air, forests, farmland and special places. We created the Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds and nearly 90 watershed councils.

We have also found ways to support our rural communities and to create jobs in our natural resources industries while enhancing the environment.

When forces of intolerance sought to divide us we stood up for the principal that every Oregonian deserves respect and basic rights – including the right to choose and the right to marry the person we love.

And I am proud that Oregon has not invoked the death penalty during my last four years on the watch.

We have stood by our working men and women steadfastly supporting collective bargaining and the right to form a union.

We have transformed our health care system, improving access and quality while lowering costs through our new Coordinated Care Organizations. Tonight over 95 percent of Oregonians will go to bed knowing that they have health insurance coverage. We did that together.

In a three-day special session we reformed our public pension system, provided tax relief to small businesses and raised new revenue for mental health and for public education — the foundation of our future.

We have passionately pursued the goal of equity and opportunity – especially for those Oregonians who have been left behind: communities of color, English language learners and those in poverty, those in the rural parts of our state, the very young and the very old.

We have laid the groundwork for eliminating the achievement gap and ensuring that over 90 percent of our children could be reading at level in 3rd grade within five years.

And we are poised to reach agreements that will resolve the century-old water crisis in the Klamath Basin and expand irrigated agriculture in the Umatilla.

As important as what we have accomplished – how we have accomplished it is perhaps even more important. We have had a great tradition of overcoming partisan differences in this state and doing what is right for Oregon. That tradition had faltered, but over the past four years we have rebuilt a functional political center, reaching across party lines to do difficult, important things by reducing polarization and building community to help right the ship and chart a better course for our future.

I ran for a fourth term as your governor to continue that progress. But the questions that have been raised about my administration – specifically allegations against me concerning the work done by my fiancé Cylvia Hayes and the contracts she obtained during my last term – and the escalating media frenzy that has stemmed from this – has clearly reached the point of no return.

I am confident that I have not broken any laws nor taken any actions that were dishonest or dishonorable in their intent or outcome. That is why I asked both the Ethics Commission and the Attorney General to take a full and comprehensive look at my actions – and I will continue to fully cooperate with those ongoing efforts. I am equally confident that once they have been concluded Oregonians will see that I have never put anything before my love for and commitment to Oregon and faithfully fulfilling the responsibilities of the public offices I have held

But it is also clear that this process will take months.

I have always had the deepest respect for the remarkable institution that is the Oregon Legislature; and for the office of the Governor. And I cannot in good conscience continue to be the element that undermines it. I have always tried to do the right thing and now the right thing to do is to step aside.

One thing I hope people know about me is that I love this state and its people, its rivers, its mountains and its landscapes with every fiber of my being. It is because of that love that I tender my resignation as Governor, effective at 10 a.m. on February 18, 2015. Secretary of State Kate Brown will take the oath of office as Oregon’s Governor at that time. Oregon will be in good hands and I wish her well.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you and our state. It has been the honor of my life. And I believe I can say that looking back over those years we have left it better than we found it.

Kitzhaber: ‘I’m Just Here So I Don’t Get Fined’*

Governor Kitzhaber’s performance Friday at a presser (video below) called to do damage control after reports surfaced, and his girlfriend subsequently confirmed, she made money trading on her role as ‘First “Lady”‘and didn’t report it.

kitz hands
Kitzhaber pleading with reporters to believe he’s not ‘trying to be like Marshawn Lynch or anything, but…’ he can’t answer questions.

Though he owes the citizens of Oregon answers, he called the presser Friday morning to stage a little political theater and to pretend to answer questions. And though we did glean a bit of information from Kitzhaber (he doesn’t regret getting together with her, he doesn’t know if he lives with her), he mostly pulled a Marshawn Lynch, “I’m just here so I don’t get fined.”

Kitzhaber brought up the Seahawks running back in his remarks in answer to a question by Lars Larson, “I don’t want to sound like Marshawn Lynch, but as I’ve said before…”

While both people hate the media, there’s a big difference between Lynch and Kitzhaber: Lynch isn’t trying to hide anything.

Here a few things we learned during this most awkward presser:

  • The man who hates the media (especially talk shows) held a news conference. He’s willing to take questions from other than friendly reporters in a desperate attempt to look statesmanlike and in control of his disastrous message (see example below).
  • Kitzhaber doesn’t actually know if the woman with whom he’s been living for the past four years, whom he claims is part of his household and whom he calls Oregon’s “first lady”, actually lives with him.
  • He calls a distraction questions about Hayes’s “first lady” status, though it was he who foisted the title on the citizens and leaned on the media to hop-to and follow along. Or, as I put it in my post, ‘Cylvia Hayes You’ll Look Marvelous in an Orange Jump Suit“, Oregonians have been “forced to tolerate this woman much like kids forced to be nice to Dad’s fourth wife named Bambi”.
  • “Of course” he won’t resign, regardless of whether he’s guilty of violating his ethics or not. Yes, he really said that.
  • He took questions (but never actually answered) questions from radio talk host Lars Larson on whose show he refuses to come.
  • He unsuccessfully tried to sell the idea the woman who’s been trading on the title the Governor gave her, “first lady”, and whom he said he loves and had no regrets getting together with, won’t have any effect on his decision in office, evidence to the contrary notwithstanding.
  • He doesn’t think an independent audit will shed light on his and Cylvia’s shenanigans. Kitzhaber names some of the members to the Government Ethics Commission so I can see why he would want people who aren’t his cronies looking at his and Cylvia’s books.
  • He tried to convince reporters, and anyone else watching, he didn’t didn’t conduct the state’s money and business with his zipper down.
  • Though Hayes is reportedly targeted with an FBI investigation, neither Cylvia nor Kitzhaber has hired a criminal defense attorney, although Kitzhaber confirmed he and Hayes have retained Ball Janik to represent them on civil issues.

This exchange between Willamette Week’s Nigel Jacquiss and the Governor encapsulates why he’s in trouble:

Jacquiss: Governor, have you ever used the authority of your office or attended a meeting to benefit Cylvia Hayes’s career?
Kitz: No.
Jacquiss: Ok, so 2013 you went to Bhutan with Lou Baily from Demos. For the preceding year, you and Cylvia Hayes had been in close contact with Beemos and Lou Baily. You went to Bhutan in the middle of a legislative session. When you returned, Demos awarded Cylvia Hayes a contract. So are you sure that you didn’t go to Bhutan to benefit her career.
Kitz: (Smirks) I’m absolutely sure.
Jacquiss: How can you say that?
Kitz: It’s very easy. I’m absolutely sure ..
crosstalk
Jacquiss: You went to Bhutan, lending the credibility of your name and the credibility of your office to Demos and they rewarded Cylvia with a contract..
Kitz: So, you can draw that conclusion. I suppose the Ethics Commission will take a look at this. Well, but let’s talk about …

Robert Kennedy. That’s right. He changed the subject to talk about Robert Kennedy and how he became involved and enthralled with Beemos during a speech by Robert Kennedy at the University of Kansas in 1968 (he says this searching the room to see if picking up what he’s throwing down).

Changing the subject is the only thing he’s got going for him. Who knows, the compliant press just might let him get away with it.

*He didn’t actually say this, though he did invoke Lynch’s name and the episode where he said this.

*This post has been updated to reflect the correct name of the company from which Hayes received money, perks in exchange for government jobs.

It must be hard to admit the woman whom you’ve personally coronated ‘First Lady’ of Oregon is the same grifter she’s always been.

Her scams just keep getting bigger.

And her men keep getting dumber. Take Governor John Kitzhaber. Please

Let’s go to the Cylvia Hayes hall of shame tote board:

The scam to ‘marry’ a man for $5000.

The scam to set up an illegal pot farm.

The scam to sell the Governor’s office for personal and mutual gain.

The scam to make money using her title and not reporting it to the government.

Wait, whoa on that last one. A ‘scam to sell the Governor’s officer for personal and mutual gain’? From Willamette Week

As WW has reported, Hayes in 2013 leveraged her position as first lady and policy adviser to Kitzhaber into private consulting contracts worth at least $85,000. On Tuesday, EO Media reported Hayes was paid $118,000 for unspecified work by a now-defunct Washington, D.C., non-profit.

WW has also reported that Hayes used state employees to help run her consulting business, and conducted private business while traveling at state expense.

Worse? She didn’t report $118,000 to the government. And the Governor didn’t report it on his ethics disclosures, either.

There’s more, but you get the picture.

In the post modern world of moral relativism, you may not know this behavior is not just unseemly, but unethical, lawless and an assault on the consciences of all good Oregonians who have been forced to tolerate this woman much like kids forced to be nice to Dad’s fourth wife named Bambi.

The Governor and Hayes are both under investigation by the Oregon Government Ethics Commission and the FBI. Good. Both deserve to go to jail.

Oregon’s Al Qaeda Training Camp: ‘Car loads’ of Terrorists Came. Where Will Master Mind Go?

The camp wasn’t a bust. It was a threat. Why weren’t you told?

al-masri-AP-e1422386839718

For years we’ve been told efforts to set up the Bly, Oregon terrorist training camp went nowhere. It fizzled. It was a failure. Now, in stories about the conviction and sentencing of Abu Hamza al-Masri, I read in fact ‘car loads’ of jihadis converged upon the ranch of a woman–a Muslim convert–who turned her place over to the terrorists.

Al- Masri, a British citizen, is the notorious former Finsbury Park imam who funded terrorists, kidnappings and other forms of murderous jihad.

Here’s what the New York Post wrote about the Eva Hatley’s testimony:

But US-born Muslim convert Eva Hatley testified in Manhattan federal court Tuesday [April 2014] that after the “carloads’’ of fellow Muslims she met through her mosque arrived at the 160-acre ranch in Bly in 1999, the couple watched helplessly as their home was turned into an al Qaeda training camp.

“It wasn’t anything like I envisioned for the property,” insisted Hatley, testifying at the trial of one-eyed, hook-handed hate preacher Abu Hamza al-Masri.

Hatley, a two-time witness-protection-program flunky who prefers going by her Muslim name, Ayat Hakimah, said other Muslims from London would soon arrive on al-Masri’s orders.

Failure? Really?

Hatley said one of the arrivals, militant Oussama Kassir, boasted about previously running training camps in Afghanistan and being a “hit man” for Osama bin Laden.

She said Kassir told her that al-Masri was his “leader” and that al-Masri sent him and others to the Bly ranch to create a “training camp” where men would learn to shoot guns, throw knives and do calisthenics along open, spacious fields abutting a ravine and desolate dirt roads.

“He said he was there to train men for jihad,” she said. “He said that Abu Hamza sent him. He intended to train them to fight.”

I’d like to ask what constitutes a failure in any of this? Foreign nationals, possibly illegal aliens, converge upon a property, take it over, and train jihadis IN OREGON. Sounds like a SUCCESSFUL training camp to me. Perhaps it was short lived, but up to now, the description of the the Bly, Oregon operation has been that it simply never got off the ground, no one was trained and little harm was done except scare to the heck out of people after the fact. Now we discover that wasn’t true. At all.

She added that some had CDs with information on how to make poisons to “kill people” and regularly “talked” about “robbing and killing truck drivers” on nearby roads.

Kassir, she recalled, claimed there were plans to eventually dig a hillside compound at the ranch for al-Masri to hide out in.

“I was shocked,” said Hatley, who claims she fled the ranch in fear in December 1999, four months after moving in.

Now granted, she is a bit of a weirdo and twice got booted out of the witness protection program. That’s right, home girl there was in the witness protection program. Why? Because she knew the people running a TERRORIST TRAINING CAMP IN OREGON, that’s why.

The UK Daily Mail reports:

However one arrival, a militant man named Oussama Kassir, told a particularly terrifying campfire story, boasting of running training camps in Afghanistan and acting as a ‘hit man’ for al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

…A Lebanese-born Swede, in 2009 he was convicted of plotting to help al-Qaeda build a weapons-training post at the ranch as well as distributing terror training manuals online to help recruit new members.

Kassir claimed at the time that al-Masri was his ‘leader’ and that he had been recruited by hm to the Bly Ranch to create a new training camp where the terrorist group’s future foot soldiers could learn to shoot, throw knives, and use the open fields to practice calisthenics.

In some of the most willfully ignorant and gullible reporting I’ve seen in quite some time, the Zero said the training camp was a big bust, indeed, it was a scam:

What emerges from the trial record is an almost comic account of passwords, night patrols and target practice. Jihad, it seems, couldn’t take root alongside the sagebrush and weeds that greeted Kassir.

Kassir recently was sentenced to life in prison for his effort, and his two partners in the enterprise are awaiting extradition to the U.S.

The whole set up was in fact a hustle by a petty crook from Seattle named James Ujaama.

Weird. The Feds didn’t think having ‘carloads’  of jihadis coming into train — seriously or not–was a big nothing burger or a hustle.

Then the paper reported on the bad actors involved in the ranch.

Kassir and Aswat took refuge in a Seattle mosque and tried taking the training to the Muslims who hadn’t wanted to move to Bly.

After a few classes, the men from London gave up and packed their bags for home. Kassir explained his exasperation to Osman.

“I’ve been trying to train these brothers,” Kassir said. “They’re not taking it seriously.”

The Oregonian purposely tried to minimize the seriousness of the real and potential threat from this camp. I suppose they’d take it seriously when–what?–a cell from the camp had successfully carried out jihad? And, how do we know people complicit in it did not. We DO know the organizers did and were very bad actors to the highest degree. They’re going to prison for life for it.

The Zero lived up to its name in coverage of this trial.

Al Masri –you know, the guy who inspired this camp in the first place– has been found guilty on eleven terrorism counts, each worth a life sentence. It’s undetermined yet in what prison he’ll spend the rest of his life.

If he is sentenced to the supermax in Florence, Colorado, he’ll join these… er … people …already locked up. See my story on this for Independent Journal Review here.  Note the bad guys who are scheduled to get out in the next few years. I’m sure they’ll be trade bait for President Obama in the future. Watch.
