To Portland City Commissioners,
I recognize that groups of people who only have the security and safety of America at heart are now inveighing against the city rejoining the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). The Portland Peaceful Response group which over the years has included Earth first!, ELF, ALF, anti Israel groups and the ACLU are attempting to convince you that there’s no reason to stay on top of possible terrorist activity around here. I agree. It’s really an easy decision for you to opt out. After all:
  • Just because 7 convicted terrorists came from one Portland mosque and tried to get to the field of battle to kill American soldiers in Afghanistan is no reason to rejoin the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF).
  • Just because an 8th accused terrorist attended the same mosque is no reason to rejoin the JTTF.
  • Just because one of the Portland 7 terrorists said he attended that mosque because it preached violent jihad is no reason to rejoin the JTTF.
  • Just because an accused Portland terrorist twice tried but didn’t succeed in blowing up thousands of Portlanders at a traditionally Christian event is no reason to rejoin the JTTF.
  • Just because this area has been the focus of eco and animal terrorists and the headquarters for “the family” is no reason to rejoin the JTTF.
  • Just because an Oregon “charity” was used as a money laundering service for Muslim terrorists in Chechnya is no reason to rejoin the JTTF.
  • Just because a Portland “charity” pleaded guilty to money laundering “aid” to Iran’s mullahs is no reason to rejoing the JTTF.
  • Just because a jihadist imam tried to set up a terrorist training camp in Oregon is no reason for the largest law enforcement organization to rejoin the JTTF.
See? There’s no reason to rejoin the JTTF. Portland has no problems with terrorism. Move along now, I’m sure there must be a bio-swale or windmill you must attend to.
Most sincerely,

Victoria Taft
