Welcome to Portland where public defenders think jihadists at Gitmo represent the “public.” We’ve talked about it on the program many times. So I’m not at all surprised to read it in the Zero:

Steven T. Wax,  the federal public defender for the District of Oregon, said in anticipation of his office handling today’s arraignment, that Stephen Sady, the chief deputy federal public defender, “has been working on the case this weekend.”

In a news release Sunday, representatives of the Somali American community said Mohamud’s father asked the media to “please respect his privacy and to direct any media questions to Attorney Stephen R. Sady.”
Sady was one of 13 Oregon lawyers who volunteered to defend prisoners held in extrajudicial detention at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Wax represented Brandon Mayfield, a Portland attorney, who was arrested in the 2004 Madrid train bombings, charges that were later debunked and dismissed

If you’re an accused jihadist you need an attorney. I just wish we didn’t have to pay for it. Oh, and we will. We will. Three halals and a cot AND an attorney.

Tell ’em where you saw it. Http://www.victoriataft.com
