Olympic Silver Medalist and MMA “Super Star” Matt Lindland,  an Oregon native — and certified conservative American patriot —  fights the main event tonight at the Rose Garden in a “Strikeforce Challengers” promotion which showcases  some of Oregon’s finest athletes competing in America’s fastest growing sport, Mixed Martial Arts.
This is a major MMA promotion which will be broadcast by Showtime. The first fight will begin at the Rose Garden at approximately 6 p.m tonight, Friday, May 21, 2010. (It can be seen on Showtime starting at 11p.m. on the West Coast.)
The Strike Force event gives Oregonians and Washingtonians the opportunity to see, cheer, and support many Oregon and Washington MMA competitors who are not only outstanding homegrown athletes, but, like Lindland, patriots grateful for the freedom and opportunities America has given them.
Lindland, an All American at the University of Kansas who brought home to the U.S. and Oregon the Silver Medal in Greco-Roman Wrestling in the 2000 Olympics, has brought also honor to himself and Oregon by achieving universal respect for his skill as an athlete,  and his personal character and integrity.
Lindland  has contributed back to his community,  Eagle Creek, OR, state and nation, particularly by his support of our troops and veterans generally. Among other things, Lindland  has volunteered his time and talent to train and do exhibitions for troops here, in California, and elsewhere.
As he expressed in an interview on the Victoria Taft Show on KPAM860,  Lindland remains aware at all times that while he fights in MMA, a much tougher fight is made daily by our troops, and  the success and freedom he enjoys has been purchased by the service and sacrifice of veterans.
Lindland,  as sharp intellectually as he is skilled in MMA, won the Republican nomination for Oregon State Representative, and nearly defeated the much-better financed Democrat who was elected in the Obamamania of Oregon in 2008.  He also received a public apology from his Obama-supporting Democrat opponent’s campaign manager, Mrs. Robert Packwood,  when he threatened to sue her for defamation in the dirty politics launched to defeat him.
Lindland,  an entrepreneur, operates the nationally and internationally famous Team Quest MMA training center in Gresham, OR, which he co-founded with his co-MMA Super Stars Dan Henderson, who now also fights for Strike Force and heads the Team Quest facility in Temecula,CA, and Randy Couture,  another local MMA fighter now of international renown, who operates his “Extreme Couture” training center in Las Vegas.
At Team Quest, Lindland has trained and given opportunity to other Oregon athletes to succeed in MMA, and life, as he has.  Several are on the Strikeforce card and at the Rose Garden:
The Main Event:  Matt “The Law” Lindland (21-7) against against Kevin “King” Case (3-1) of Hawthorne, CA, at approximately 8 p.m. (185-lbs.)
