In light of the outrage over pat-downs of citizens at airports and the use of x-ray scanners revealing intimate body parts, just how far is too far in the claims of safety? How about 6th graders being banned from having pens and mechanical pencils in school out of fear they can be used as weapons?
This is a real letter sent to parents of children at North Brookfield Elementary in Massachusetts. Fortunately, parental outrage was such that the principal intervened and children may once again have free use of writing utensils and not be reliant on government issued pencils.
