I wish I could give the family a donation for the defense fund. I saw the photo of their house and the 40K dollar auto in their driveway. I have a hard time believing they cannot afford the attourney to fight the case. Remember on the show yesterday, the families attourney said he believes this case is winnable. My own attourney told me that his interest is in telling this to everyone. He doesnt get pain unless he wins. The defense fund is pumped up by him telling the public the family cant afford his services. He drains the account working on the case. Walks away with the money, and for what? Getting the DA to drop a hollow case? If there is nothing to the case, he wont have to work that hard and the defense fund is a racket. I think the kids should not have been charged with a crime in the first place. I see much worse than that in public schools all the time. Petition the state attourney general to fire the DA. Thats what I did to help the family. The families attourney was not so brilliant to say publically the case should be dropped and then say the family cannot afford his services. When he mentioned the case should be dropped, he aluded to him not really having any validity of creating a fund and charging for a bunch of work.
It looks like Mike Nifong has been reincarnated into the DA of Washington County. This whole fiasco should have been handled by the school only and then forgotten. It never should have gotten this far out of control. And maybe some one ought to look into the DA’s past when he was in middle school. I would bet that he did the very same thing these two boys did. and maybe the State Bar Association ought to look into the DA’s handling of this thing.
And I think cnskate is right when he asks for the Attorney General to fire the DA. But, with Hardly Matters Myers, that ain’t gonna happen.
