Just a rumor last evening, confirmed today in the Columbian and the Olympian, Democrat Deb Wallace is withdrawing from the race for the seat being vacated by Brian Baird.

From the Olympian,

“Wallace’s campaign manager Zach Knowling said in a follow-up email that Wallace was not pressured by the state or local Democratic Party and the decision was entirely hers.”
“People in the party and in the district were surprised by this announcement. There has been a ton of support for her candidacy and the party has been great to all the candidates – by being fair and not taking sides in the race,” Knowling wrote.

Wallace said,

“We cannot let the 3rd Congressional Seat go to an anti-choice, anti-health care Republican. We must come together and support a Democrat who will keep the people at the heart of their mission to serve.”

I suspect the Democratic party machine will heavily back Denny Heck, a polarizing former state representative and multi-miliionaire in hopes of overcoming displeasure with incumbent Olympia Democrats due to the steadily deteriorating economic conditions.

Wallace was the second highest money raisier for the Democrats in the race.
